Page 768…
Sorry for the cliffhanger again today.
As you all know…I write this as a book. Not as a webcomic. So the pages end as they need to for the book.
🙂
Thanks for the help yesterday too. Really appreciate all of your support.
You guys all help me to fine tune this story daily. Thank you all!

On another note…
I got SO many fan art pages when I took my break a couple months ago and while I’ve put everything into the book…some creators really were hoping to have you ONLINE readers see their work (and hopefully visit their sites as well).
That being the case…I’d like to introduce you to Michelle Vz and her guest page.
It’s a really great page…and I want to thank Michelle for her awesome guest strip.
Go visit her site (but be warned…some bad language and such…not for kids) and say HI.
Thanks again Michelle. Thanks for your talent and for your patience.
Scott

Darnit! A cliffhanger! Sucks.
Well at least Alex seems happy about his discovery. His expression in the first panel of the last page made he think that he found out something horrible about Dreamland
Argh argh argh argh… Now we have to wait until MONDAY!!!! And yes… I do understand the whole ‘book’ thing… but man…. 😛
ERK! Another cliffhanger. Oh sure, tease us on Thurs with one, then torcher(sp) us with another on Friday. Both clever AND evil at the same time. I like the way you think. 😉
Yep, if it weren’t for the fact that it’d prevent any further comics, some folks would probably revolt. Bad cliff-type hanger! Bad, I say! I think you owe us….say, a cookie? 🙂 Have a good weekend! See you (and the ground…not a cliff!) on Monday! 😀
I don’t perceive that as a cliffhanger. It’s just how things are done here – at their own pace.
Besides, it wouldn’t do much to keep us hooked, if Scott threw the riddle’s solution upon us immediately. Geez, now he’s got us fuming and boiling and thinking about what the heck is on that sheet of paper that alex has recognized in one of the books. Hehehe. brilliant. 🙂
Patience, lads. It ain’t gonna break yer souls, eh?
I’ll have you know that November is National Novel Writing Month. I’m currently trying to write a 50 thousand word novel, but instead I stumble onto your comic and spend the entire night reading this instead of writing.
Well worth it, but I still growl at you for it.
distantvoice, that is indeed, the very definition of a cliffhanger – look it up at http://www.onelook.com
michelle’s guest page is awesome – worthy of using as filler for when you don’t have time or are on hiatus! good name, too! scott, other webcomic artists save pages like that for days when they don’t have time or whatever. an archive of guest pages makes it easier to travel, for example.
michelle – i ‘d perceive it as a cliffhanger, if it’d be the END for a film in the middle of a series or so. This here is an ongoing story, where the next strip is to come next monday, if the author ain’t get ill or so. 😉
It’s a subtle difference I’m referring to – mostly concerning duration.
It still hurts to wait all weekend. Remember, there are kids with little to no patience on this site.
-_-#
be careful what you say Shadow cat, you might get a mob on your hands ;-). Again awesome comic Scott, your quite inspiring sometimes, do you know if your book is available in Canada???
Love the comic. My whole family reads it. the art is great. and the story line rocks. Thanks for all your hard work.
i love the sad foreshadowing of Alex. Like waiting for the other shoe to drop.
ALL weekend? I have to wait ALL weekend? ‘gasp’, h-how w-will I go on? … m-must have d-dreamland …
Ha! Sorry all. I promise, though. This time next week…you will know. Promise.
Oh come on everyone… you must have known this was coming. also you must have a fairly decent idea about what is to come… so I would say this is more of a slight incline with soft grass rather than a high cliff with jagged rocks on the bottom.
Scott, keep it coming and we’ll keep coming back 🙂
P.S. if you really need a fix, do what I do; go back to the beginning of the chapter or previous chapter and reread those… there is usually some small subtlety that you may have missed the first time around (or even the second).
Oh. Or buy the books. It reads MUCH better that way (shameless plug)
do you think if you changed the so what she says to something like “your point” or just her saying “So” it would make a more sarcastic line for her? just a though.. BOO for cliffhangers!
Nicole will probably say it’s a coincidence that something was similar in their childhood dreams, and that there is a limited amount of shapes that do not look alike, so they have to show her something more convincing. Basically any theory can be twisted or refuted as long as someone doesn’t want to accept it and its implications.
Dan could say something about the collective unconsciouss. I’m sure Nicole respects Jung and his work.
As for fanart much of it can be mined on the forum, but it would probably be a good idea to have it all in one place, so a fanart section would be a nice addition to this site.
Don’t apoligize for “cliff-hangers”! That’s the best guarantee we’ll all be back on Monday!
GREAT comic – i found you sometime in Chapter 3 and have been a “loyal addict” ever since!
Aaaaaaaaaaaaugh!
Clever, clever. I should learn from you for my NaNo novel…which I’m behind on…by 7,000 words… I can’t stop staring at the page!
I was just at the local Borders today… no Dreamland books of course. According to their website, it appears that it’s special order only. I have a couple of comic shops that I’m going to hit when DC 2 comes out on the 15th of this month (which seems really odd, since that’s a Saturday… but that’s what Borders is showing…) And Scott, it may seem like I’m giving you a bad time for a cliffhanger, but I’m in the middle of reading three ‘books’ online… so I know what it’s like. 😀
But you notice nobody commented on Scott’s own statement “This time next week… you will know.” – Does this mean he’s actually going to introduce some distraction and not let us see what Alex is getting at until next Friday??
Okay, I don’t actually think he’s that cruel. Just sayin’
Scott, what do you mean “This time next week you will know.” If Monday’s another cliffhanger and no real knowledge of what Alex knows, I’ll freak. I tried doing what one person suggested, wait until each Friday and read the week’s pages in one lump sum, but I can’t Everyday, one of the first things I do is dive on the comp to read the latest page.
Well I was out of school sick yesterday and decided to finally check out this web-comic I’ve been hearing so much about for so long…
Geez I wasn’t disappointed.
I went through the first 950 pages before forced to bed and woke up early to claim the computer to continue. I’ve fallen in love with the CGI style, something I wasn’t sure I would enjoy. But simply the detail and quality it adds to the story is unbelievable. The story has a sweet and whimsical aspect that I really enjoy, but I’m not saying that the comic doesn’t have depth. It does, and although money is seriously tight at the moment, I’m sure I can scrape together some cash in the not-to-distant future and buy the first couple of books.
I’m sorry I didn’t have the time to sit down and enjoy this comic way back in July, I would have loved to come meet you and buy a book in person at San Diego. Next year perhaps? 🙂
Thank you Jenny. Welcome to Dreamland…I hope to see you in San Diego as well. So glad you came by.
How come it’s the “idiot” who comes up with the proof?
What, bmonk, you’ve never heard something described as “idiot-proof”?
(Sorry, couldn’t resist … )
😉
NO WAY!
Chance. The piece he picked up just happened to be the important one. Nothing he did in this instance was overly brilliant. Just in the right place at the right time.
