Ok. This page was a bit of work.
We had to redo Nastajia’s body and hair.
I wanted to give her a costume change. Something to mix things up a bit.
So I asked Karen to design something with a Native American flair to it.
Then asked her what Nastajia’s hair would look like down.
Then Ivan got to work modelling her body. Did you know that underneath her previous outfit…she had no hands or feet or anything. So we had to do everything from the neck down.
Then Juan Carlos had to re-rig her body…do hair morphs and even redid some facial morphs.
It was an expensive costume change. Hitting me for about $500. But I think it’s worth it.
Anyways. I kind of like it. And hope you do too.

Oh, wow. That is a major understatement. This new Nastajia is very, very nice. I especially like the hair and face, very nice work that they did on her.

I understand that artists live through their characters, but spending $500.00 for a 3D makeover? Ouch! 🙂
Seriously, it’s a nice look. I like the way she framed herself in the tent opening, casually, as if it hadn’t taken her a hefty part of a Dreamland day to get ready.
This brings up, how do you do your comic? is it drawn from some type of pattern on a program or what? Also could this form of drawing be adapted to motion? I think after the series is done it would make a great cgi movie.

Well it sure looks like Alex thinks it was $500 well spent. He’s going to need his eyes realigned.
And me, I’m a neck man so yeah, wow, well done. I also like that for the first time she doesn’t look stern. Stern is not the right word, but close. She doesn’t look like she’s focused on only her burdens, for a change.
And if Alex wakes up now . . . but no, you wouldn’t, would you?
Wow love the look of Nastajia relaxed. I have to say i like the look of the more lose clothing and prefer her with her hair down. I took some 3D modeling classes before and i realize how much work went into making the normal Nastajia. To have to essentially remake her, that is a bit ofa pain. I’ll agree with sco3tt if he woke up now i think Nastajia would kill him, but i suspect he can’t wake up till he has the sword back unless someone can quote me otherwise.

Yeah he can wake up with out having the sword with him, it’s happened before, at Nastajia place. He wakes up and the sword goes with him. As said before it can go to both places, one as a sword and one as a necklace.
If he could not wake up without the sword then I think The first thing Nicodemus would do when he again saw Alex after he came back to Dreamland the first time is take the sword just so Alex could not leave.
So yeah, in basic terms, the sword stays with Alex, Alex does not stay with the sword.
Oh also love how Nastajia looks, did not see that coming XD
But really man, $500? Wow you must really love his comic do spend that much on a single make over.
Hope the look lasts as long as the last one. Or is used often in future pages.
No more make overs for a while, although I would LOVE to see Alex in something like that. Boy style of course… unless he would like to feel pretty… oh so pretty and witty.. and I’ll stop now >.<;

Love the new look on Nastajia, she looks hawt. Hoping at least the hair stays (I like hair like that on a woman :P)

echoing others, i LOVE the new nastajia and her effect on alex. awesome! wonder if this can get him flying? since this is a kid-friendly comic, though, i’m guessing they’re not about to get some alone time in a tent. i also was worried about him falling asleep apart from the sword and if that would hinder his return to dreamland the next night, but if you’re right, that it happened before at nastajia’s tree-castle, then we’re all good.
Heh, if I didn’t already know this was an all-ages comic, I’d say Alex was probably going to be having one of *ahem* THOSE types of dreams. Happens to every guy at some point in their life…

It’s always hard to put money you don’t have into something as frivolous as a costume change for a virtual character…but thank you for making me feel it was the right call.
It was time. And I think you’ll like the next few weeks. They’re great for more relationship building for Alex and Nastajia.
As I mentioned way back before this Chapter started…this chapter has a LOT of character development. Whereas last chapter had lots of plot twists and fighting.
So I hope that’s OK. This is an important chapter as it starts the final act and sets up the rest of the story for the next few years.

Scott, I really like your webcomic, so I feel bad being slightly critical. I think Nastajia’s knees look REALLY weird. I mean, does she even have knees? Sure the rest of her looks nice, but what happened to her KNEES!?!?!?
She has elven princess knees, not knobbly human knees! xP

In her trappings as a Princess she was attractive enough. Now we mere mortals have to compete with her on our level. From the other comments (all clearly male) it is evident we have already lost.
I will be ever so sweet to Nastajia but down deep (okay, not very deep at all) where the monster named jealousy lives, I hate her.

Kind of a topic/subject change but it just occurred to me that there might be a VERY good reason for Alexanders lack of attention. If he has a super hyped up situational awareness (a highly desired trait for a warrior) then any little thing is going to grab his attention. In fact even if nothing is going on he’s still going to be unable to focus well on anything because his senses are constantly searching for something.
Just a thought.

Scott she looks wonderful. I started drooling myself (and i am a woman). I momentary forgot that this comic was kid friendly and was expecting a *ting* from Alexander’s armour. He he. She was definably worth the money. I can’t wait to see her in “better” light.

I didn’t get the “less revealing” comments. Other than some rather almost negligible cleavage, she had far more skin covered when she was wearing armor.
Other than that, yeah, some character development time is good. I like when a story takes the time to make the characters seem like real people.

I think her outfit is definitely less revealing. Tight clothing can be much more revealing, even if it covers more skin. I like her outfit this way.
As for her knees… They immediately reminded me of a Barbie doll. Her whole legs look exactly like Barbie’s.

I had to go back and look at the knees after reading other comments. And then I noticed the crease in the skirt. I think the crease extends too far to the left before it breaks downward; makes Nastajia’s thigh look REALLY fat. She would die if she saw that (and probably not until after she killed you, “How could you make me look that fat?” I am assuming the skirt material is very soft and think the crease should break right about where the shadow edge crosses the crease.
Or maybe it’s just the jealousy thing and I’m looking for her flaws….I’m sure they are there, somewhere.
