Page 845…
Well…another end to another week.
But this week was special. We ended the flashback sequence of Nichole and Felicity.
I don’t know if they’ll ever see each other again. I haven’t written that part of the story out…and haven’t decided if it’s something I’ll show.
But I hope you enjoyed it…and now for about a week or so of the “mundane world” and then back to Dreamland with Alexander (who should be getting back to the dorm room from his classes by now).

My apologies again for having to cancel. I’m so disappointed.
I start physical therapy for my back next week. But hope at least I can still get back to a regular working schedule on Monday. I’m almost out of any cushion I had of extra pages I had done in preparation for Wondercon. I need to catch up.

I agree with emily, if you don’t put it in the story, can you do an extra with it?
I concur with previous comments; a reuniting of the two characters would be some major closure!
But…the dream-flashback-Nicole looks to be about five or six years old; how could that only be 10 years ago for Nicole now? Nicole is a college student, right? Unless she just looked reeeally young for her age back then.
I think their reunion would be the sweetest part of the comic for me, but you as the storyteller of course have the last say on what goes. I’m sure either way it will work out beautifully.
And I’m gonna miss little Nicole and Felicity XD

Wait.. almost a decade ago? she looked about 6 or so in the falshback so that means shes at max 18.. oh well i guess it kinda works i just thought she was more like 20+. Btw love the comic 🙂

This page is heartbreaking too. :,( I vote for reunion too, but you`re the storyteller Scott. If Nicole would be content by just hearing that Fel is ok, then I guess it works for me too. I`d just love for Nicole to visit Dreamland again.
I wonder if it wouldn`t be just awkard, seeing each other after so many years all grown up and with a seperation like this…maybe Felicity s just a tiny big angry that Nicole just stopped coming, after all she knows that happened….
Although it would be sweet for Nicole and Felicity to meet again, I don’t think they should. They’ve both grown up… and right now, Nicole’s memory is enough. She has realized her errors and knows that Felicity is still alive. They both love each other and that love is pure, without the troubles of “the real world.” That seems like pretty good closure to me.
I Also vote for the Reunion…
yes please have them meet. It would bring closer to Nicole as well as Fel. It could be an extra but I think if Alex were to hear the story too.. it maybe just maybe would wake up our lovable cat girl from her coma
Something I find really telling about Nichole’s personality – it looks like she didn’t fly while she was in Dreamland. Kind of a nice continuity of a very grounded character.
And while, like everyone else, I’d love to see them get back together, I’m not sure how that would work for the story. There’d have to be a really compelling reason to get her to even try to go back. And even then, unless she’s taking the sword necklace – and we don’t even know if that would work – how does she go back?
Please write in that they see each other that would be so cool or even an extra~ I hope physical therapy goes well~
I was also surprised by the whole “almost a decade”, in other words less than 10 years ago! I always imagined her in her mid-20s, not her mid-teens!
By far the best flashback I’ve read, but every flashback has to to end. You got that turn just rigth 🙂
@Seth: Woman love to exagerate and generally using words which describes an amount without even caring for the amount itself 😉
@Reunion: not a big fan ot that idea. It sure would add a lot more of ‘awww’ but this Story has developed quite nice in the matter of seriousity which could be ruined by that.

A really good interlude here. And there’s nothing at all silly about crying over old dreams. I hope Dan can make Nicole see that. As I noted in the forums, Nicole was scarred by that experience even if she didn’t realize it until now.
I do think the age question needs a little more exposition though. It either has to be more than ten years since Nicole had that last meeting with Felicity, or she’s a lot younger now than she comes across.
Don’t forget take care of yourself too, Scott. We need you healthy enough to keep the story going. (Selfish crew that we are. 😉 ) If you need to take a break at some point now, please do so. I don’t anyone will have a problem with that if it means you’ll be able to get back to work in better health afterwards.
agree with the plot goof here. scott, just change the text to ‘over a decade ago’ instead of ‘almost’ and it works out. but when are these two going to kiss already? daniel is so not a lady’s man!
do go to a sauna somewhere – i bet this will feel good too for your back!
Oh please, Dreamland would not feel complete, if there weren’t anything coming after this… at least some little bit… a glimpse of her in the background of a panel near the end or the hint of her asleep with signs of dreaming should be enough, but going completely around it just would not seem right to me.
I just want to hold Nicole and whisper…”Honey, if we can’t cry over a lost dream then we can’t cry over anything.”

She was around 10-11. She may not have looked it.
But I think Felicity looked it more than Nicole.
I think Nicole just looks young, think now, the way they are talking is far more than what a 6 year old would speak. Seems to be closer to a lil 10 year old which would make it about right for her current age.
Since you did the flash back, making Nicole a true believer again (hopefully) It would only be right to have some kind of closure with Felicity even if its just Alex taking a message to her “Nicole remembers.. she has not forgotten you” BLINK she comes out of her slumber!

Make it happen Scott, make it happen … perhaps a contact thru Alex for a while, getting word to each other and what not, but at THE END .. they have ALL got to meet together SOMEHOW … all the People characters and all the Dreamland characters have got to be together at THE END … Just my 2 cents thrown in for free man.

I like the reunion idea, but only if it really works.
Maybe Nicole and Daniel will visit Dreamland together one day if drawn there for a special event, like oh I don’t know, a wedding maybe. Now who do we know that’s a nice couple that might eventually end up on the altar in the land of dreams, hmmm . . .
Well Nicole did say it was a dream. Does she still not believe in Dreamland? I think/hope that when she doesn’t realize that it is real that she gets to meet up with Felicity again. Maybe even prep it with Daniel telling Alexander about Nicole’s experience who then mentions it to Filicity who remembers Nicole and wants her to come back. Just a thought.
I also vote for a reunion. Seems like it could be used to swing the plot in a more unexpected direction…
Wait…how old is she? Isn’t she a grad student? She’d be like, 24 or something…was she really going to dreamland when she was 14?

First off, for Nicole to re-unite with Felicity, she’d have to go to Dreamland again. Alex is the only person to go back to dreamland after being a kid, and that’s just his destiny, right? The sword. Which Nicole doesn’t have. Unless he gave it to her for a night..
Secondly, I pictured that they would have a reunion. Remember how they said Felicity had lost the will to live? I figured Nicole would come rushing to see her, and that makes her willing to live again.

Only problem with that is, when she would come back in, she would return right where she left off all those years ago. Which means she’ll be in some town, and without inducing a coma into her, I don’t think she could travel that far alone to find Felicity.
However, I think that Alex will pass on a message that will give Felicity enough will to live from Nicole 😉

Reunion? I don’t know. If it’s possible for ordinary adults to visit Dreamland, then you would expect to see them about. There are plenty of adults I’m sure who would be able to ‘believe’ enough to go.
I see it being plausible if Alex taking the throne from Nic allowed adults to easily return – Nicole & Fel could reunite in the finale, then.
I agree with ArtsAngel. I think that bringing Nicole back into Dreamland would make for a great finale.
Yes ant to unite both Nicole and Felicity would be great. But who will rule Dreamland??? There’s too many loose ends to just end it like that. What will happen to everyone??
I think they should reunite. As for any loose ends, I am sure Scott knows what he’s doing. Perhaps a good epilogue? Those usually work wonders for loose-end-tying, in any literary work.
As for who would rule Dreamland, I think that would be Nastajia, her being a Princess and all… weren’t her parents the original King and Queen of Dreamland?
Agree with Ebony, epilogues are good for tying up any ends left loose after the finale if doing so within the story would make it drag on too long. (I’m thinking of Inverloch’s epilogue right now: adding those into the story would have spoiled the climactic ending.)

What if, after beating Nicodemus and attaining the throne of Dreamland, Alex learns that as High King of Dreamland he now has the power/authority to specifically invite an adult into Dreamland? That would make for an excellent mechanism to bring Nicole in for a reunion in the Epilogue, without tarnishing the uniqueness of the Sword Amulet to Alex.

Speaking of the Sword…we’ve all kind of let the sword itself slide under our radar. Remember the eye in the pommel? This weapon has a Will and a Purpose of it’s own 😉
