Page 812…
Three Years!
Yes…today marks our 3 Year Anniversary of The Dreamland Chronicles being online!
I want to thank you ALL for being here for this. Whether this is your first day here…or you’ve been here since day one….thank you.
Without your support and encouragement I don’t think we’d be sitting here reading our 812th page today.
So today’s special day is dedicated to you all. Thank you so much!
And here’s to another 3 years (and hopefully the end of the story).
Scott
Wow!
Three years – congratulations Scott – and thanks to you for giving us The Dreamland Chronicles.
I only wish it weren’t 1:30 in the morning here. Then I might be able to offer something more profound. Seriously, what you’ve been doing with this for the last three years is truly an accomplishment, between telling a wonderful story and doing it in such a visually beautiful way.
Many thanks to you, your family, and all the other creative people who’ve helped make the Chronicles what they are. You’ve made one small corner of the Internet and the world a better place. Here’s looking forward to the next three years and beyond.
I second xaxnar! and hopefully we are all still around when the story does end. XD
I am a new reader (just found you yesterday) but I’ve already read all the archives and this is the best comic I’ve ever read! I love it! Thank you so much for all of your hard work sharing this with us …
congratulations on the comics’ 3rd year anniversary online. more to come.
Yeah, congratulations with three years! And what a happy page to celebrate it with! ^_^
gratz 🙂
…Well, I think that’s the best reaction that we could have had. It’s good she’s learning to laugh at herself!
Also, congratulations on the comic-versary. I’ve been reading a long time, and it’s really brightened up my days when I can read something that makes me grin. Not really much more to say other than that; I’m not so good at profound wisdom surrounding events.
Wow, 3 years already. Time flies…
Congratulations, Scott, and thank you for the daily pages. It’s allways fun to read.
Woohoo for three years!
Anywho, this page totally makes sense. Laughter IS contagious. Even I laughed. =D
Thank YOU for three years of awesome storytelling, Scott! Here’s to the next three 🙂
Congratulations on 3 years of amazing storytelling!!
Gratz on the 3 year mark! Here’s to as many more as it takes! Been reading for a few months now, just may not have posted before, as I tend to lurk, rather than make a fool of myself, even with the anonymity of the internet. Love the story so far, and I look forward to seeing the rest as it plays out!
Elxir Breauer, at your service…
Happy anniversary! I’ve been around for about a year and a half, and I look forward to each new page. It’s part of my morning routine before work.
Let’s hear it for Nicole finally letting her guard down! She and Dan are made for each other.
Here’s raising a glass to the last 3 years, and another to the future!
mazal tov – the comic should make you independently successful more than you even imagined! but seriously, is he going to kiss her already or what?
*sigh* I never like posting critism, so I’ll just blurt it out and hope not to get slaped about too much.
Can you get a move on? I’ve only got 70 years in this life and I’d like to have all the stories I’m reading wrapped up before the final stix 500 meter challenge.
I’ve read now 10 updates of the same scene. Please read pearls before swine and study pacing, dialogue placement and flow for next time, there will be a pop quiz!
Grats Scott, continued success for many years to come.
Ramon
Congrats Scott! I have been reading since Scott Kurtz (pvp) linked to you and broke your servers and been loving it ever since. Thanks!!
Shakes her head at Martin. The story is sound and strong, and you wish to rush it? A good story has many of the same elements of good sex. A master knows that neither should be rushed.
Do not listen to him, Scott! The rest of us say Tease me, Tempt me, Please me. Congrats on three years, we sit at your feet expecting three more years as good as this.
Thanks all.
I’m so glad you’re here with me.
You’re the best.
Oh…and Martin…thanks.
I can’t say it enough…I totally understand your frustration in the pacing of this as a daily comic. But this is NOT a daily comic like Pearls before swine.
This is a graphic novel. And a big one.
Two completely different animals.
I hope you understand and thank you for reading.
I promise the story will be finished in the next 3 years or so.
happy birthday to dreamlandchronicles, happy birthday to dreamlandchronicles!
nice third Anniversary
by the way, love Nicoles face in the last pannel
Did I mention, I cant’t stand pearls before swine? 🙂 skip over it daily.
and OBTW, good to see Nicole has lost some of that “tightness”. Also waiting for the “look in the eyes” scene between these two!
Congrats Scott! … keep up the good work … and we love the fact that you let us in on the action every single day.
And Martin, or anyone else with similar views, I HIGHLY recommend that you either:
#1-start from the beginning of the archives
OR
#2 – get Dreamland Chronicles Books 1 & 2
That way you will better understand what exactly Scott is doing here … once you do, I can’t help but think you will absolutely love and appreciate it.
To me, the daily posting is like having a guy living next door who does a MONTHLY comic book that is building a single HUGE story when it is finally completed … and he lets you come over everyday to see the latest page he has done. If you can’t understand how cool that is … well I can’t help you … but I hope you’ll take the time to get caught up and then you’ll truly understand what a great thing Scott is doing.
Just imagine how great it would have been to have had Jeff Smith show you a page a day of Bone WHILE he was creating it … lots like that.
Laughter can be contagious. 🙂 Congrats to you Scott on three years. Here’s to three more (or whatever)! (Since I know we’re already past halfway through the story)
@ Martin: No worries mate, I think that’s a common misconception many webcomic authors deal with. Many people assume that because it updates daily or a few times a week and is a comic that it’s like the ones they read in the newspaper. If you look at it as Tedr suggests then you really will come to enjoy and love Dreamland as much as the rest of us do, but if you’re looking for a joke a day or a short story line, then Dreamland’s not for you.
And congrats on three years of Dreamland!! Hip! Hip! Hooray!! Thank you so much for sharing this awesome story and your life with us Scott!!
Thanks again! I really appreciate it. What sweet things to say…
Congrats on the mega-milestone! 🙂
And it’s nice to see Nicole relax a bit and let down her guard. 🙂
Congrats on Three Years! 🙂
This comic is wonderful and the children I nanny for really enjoy it as well. Keep up the great work!
Three years and she’s finaly losening up ^_^ Congrats!!
Thanks for 3 great years Scott (even if I havent been here for all 3).
And I personally love the fact that this is both a daily comic and not a daily one. I actually have loved these past pages Dan and Nicole with their “slow” pacing. I actually like how each day is like a photograph of a moment in there time. And I absolutley LOVED the final panel in todays frame. Perfect.
Congratulations on 3 years of totally awesome storytelling! May we still be here in 3 years for the end and hopefully more! Nice to see Nicole *finally* loosen up. I thought she was going to give him a black eye at first.
@Martin, stop being such a jerk, man. Scott could easily just release graphic novels and graphic novels alone. He’s a saint for updating this daily page-to-page online, and it’s good to have so much screen time for minor characters and character development. The action will pick up soon enough. Besides if a “night” in Dreamland can (technically speaking) last a month or two. why shouldn’t a day be the same?
Congrats! And thanks for 3 years of excellent fiction 🙂
Woot to three years.
Happy anniversary!
I see she had to admit it was funny….XD
But…. I don’t want it to end…..
^.^
Congrats, Scott! Longevity is so hard to come by, and yet so essential for things like this. They say that the first two years of a new business are the hardest. Well, you’re past that, and by the sounds of things, more than half way! Thank you so much for sharing your creativity with us, and exhibiting the creative process behind the scenes in the books. Here’s to the next three plus years!
YAAAAAAAAAY! Congratulations on Three years of wonderful Dreams! Have enjoyed every panel and today’s page was very touching. Yeah, I was touched, ‘course I always have been…
🙂
Thank you all. Love hearing from each and every one of you.
Thank you for three years of smiles, Scott. Your hard work is appreciated SO much!!!
Thanks for making it this far! The story is wonderful! I love my daily dose of Dreamland. Keep up the good work!
Congrats on such a great job so far… Though I kinda feel a little sad that there will be an end to such a great comic some day.
You have my heartiest congratulations, Scott! Three years of this comic is pure bliss! I hope that you will continue making the Dreamland Chronicles for many more years to come!
Congratulations on 3 years of excellency!
I only started reading a few months ago, but I’ plan to be around for the next 3.
First I’d like to say how much I enjoy reading you comic. It is very well done! Ana congratulations on the three year anniversary of The Dreamland Chronicles being online!
But now for the point of my comment….Of all the shoes in all the world…I know he comes of as a bit of a nerd but really… Well at least he isn’t wearing socks with them. Oh and I guess they do beat crocs.
Love the comic! Been reading since summer of last year and was pleasently surprized with story and pictures. Congrats on 3 years, and hope for years to come.
Congratulations on three years Scott! TDC is amazing and I love it. The art is fantastic and the storyline is mazing and funny at the same time. I wish you much luck and good will in the years to come! ^_^
‘mazing’… Oh hey look the ‘a’ got away. Ha! It should have been Amazing.
@Scott, thanks for being understanding. You are right that it’s not a gag comic. But perhaps my quality control got futzed by reading the Gunnerkrigg Court book that just come out.
@Tedr, I’ve read all the back story a while ago and I was fascinated by the recent videos of Chris and learning how much money he’s sinking into this project. The CG elements and how costly everything must be to make, I wonder if it’ll ever be made into a game of some kind.
Congratulations Scott!! 🙂 I enjoy your comic on a daily basis and look forward to the years to come!
812 updates in 3 years is an insane amount. Keep up the good work!
=D Yay, she laughed too! And congrats on keeping it going so far! There aren’t many webcomics I’ve seen, that keep going so long. =3 Thank you!!
Whew…50 replies already. So much love.
🙂
Thank you all. I better get back to work on more pages. I’m working on a really fun part I think you’ll all love. Woot
Congrats! You really do blow the top of the charts for quality. Plus I think you win the award for sweetest studio setup (from the pix over on webcomics.com).
😀 And here’s my very late rejoinder. CONGRATS on 3 years and going strong! I actually got TDC Book One for one of my brothers, and received it myself for Christmas. I’ve only been around since last spring/summer, but I’ve loved every day!
Oh, and btw: Lucky Dan. I’m amazed she cracked.
Anyone ever read the girl genius grafic novel?
congrats scott. enjoying everyday of it.
Considering what goes into your strip (compared to most others), 3 years is an especially impressive milestone.
Congratulations.
More “Congrats on the third year!!” spammage from me 😉
Love the story and the artistry. Looking forward to the next year and everything that comes out. 🙂 In spite of the kids, please try to get some non-distraction time in every once in a while. 😉
Congrats on the 3rd year!!! This comic is stunning and I, for one, don’t think the pacing is off at all. It actually adds a element of suspense which I love. I don’t like folks that rush through a story for the sake of the action or the major plot points. Even the small interplays between other characters within the story give said story fullness and prevents the whole work from feeling rushed.
Job well done!
Heya 😀
I was just noticing in this frame the pink book in the background, where it is lined up with the wall makes the frame feel split in two… Could i possibly recommend it being smooshed a little to the right to make the frame feel more complete? Ah but what does it matter, great work as always 😀
Poor Scott. Seems like you have to deal with someone commenting that the comic moves too slowly every day, but I don’t check the comments every day. Maybe it’s worse during slower stuff like this.
3 years, and 1182 comics? you are well ahead of the regular “6 comics a week”, you could sit back and relax for the next year till the days have caught up 😉
but yeah, keep up the good work 😛
OMG I think it’s the first time Nicole has cracked a laugh in the whole entire comic, I could be wrong though since it’s 5:13 in the morning and I can’t think straight.
I like how he tries not to laugh (yesterday) and then gives in, and ends up laughing so hard that she can’t but help get over her irritation and join him. Makes me giggle just watching.
3 years… nice… keep it coming…
smiles! laughter has healing power!
Congrats!!!
on another note, i am glad nicole is finally loosening up.
You’re just having all kinds of anniversaries around this time of year…
ROFLMAO rn
