I had no idea there were so many readers here in Tennessee.
We need to get together and do a Dreamland Lunch or something. Wouldn’t that be fun?
Oh…
And we fixed the BUY PRINTS so that you can buy multiple ones without having to pay multiple times for shipping.
It’ll add to a CART.

Alright. I better get back to work.
We visit CAMELOT this week. YAY!
See you tomorrow.
Scott
Why does something tell me that its going to prove possible to bring others to dreamland….
So who exactly are the human enemies? Could it be the Indians?
Wait a second! Nic no longer has the red and yellow speech bubbles of evil! He must be a good guy!
I still say Arthur is the villain.
It told you too? Whatever else something may be, he’s a blabbermouth…
Scott, do you ever come to Canada? You totally should, theres plenty of fans here too!
Oooh imagine if it was First Nations people? I personally would appreciate having a First Nations character on a webcomic, as I am Canadian First Nations myself. Even if they were the human enemies. It’s all fictional after all, and theres not a lot of First Nations characters on webcomics! ^_^
Bears.
Nah. Arthur will try, and posibly succeed, in bringing an adult in dreamland… Nick, will not like that.
Good catch, man! I totally didn’t notice that. He must not be evil yet, though.
Heres my theory on Nic. Considering Stories have two villains, one as the central and the 2nd as the one behind it all. Nic IS the central Villain, theres also some foreshadowing that he isn’t the real threat right now. So far we’ve seen mainly good magic, this flash back could show “forbidden magic” (I.E Nic cursing Arthur), since Arthur is talking about negative things right now, this could be foreshadowing of what the Nightmare Realm is since, we’ve only heard about. Someone from the Nightmare Realm (Nic has never stated himself he is from there, only some characters say he is from there or was there at one point) could be plotting an invasion, so Arthur and Nic go to the boarder or the Nightmare Realm and Dreamland, and Arthur gets “cursed” by Nic in order to stop the invasion, but that someone also places a curse on Dreamland, in that when the next human king takes the throne they will invade (this could explain why Nic was at the swords temple in chapter 1, and why he wants it for himself, to stop Alex from taking the throne and causing the destruction of Dreamland. That is my Theory.
hmmm… some dangerous thoughts on arthur’s side, I would say… XD
can’t decide yet, if bringing enemies over would be anywhere near a good idea…
considering that arthur is british and there wasn’t any connection between britain and north america back when legend says he was alive, I don’t think that native americans would be the enemies.
arthur’s enemies came from MUCH closer to home…
Ahhh good point. The enemies would probably be European then.
going from old myths its morgana (sp) and/or the good old Saxon’s
Either Nic’s got a bit too excited and dropped his Mighty Daddy Dragon routine, or Scott did take too much anime craze back at MTAC after all. 🙂
A theory for the forthcoming events:
Nic is not a villain yet. We can clearly see his word-bubble as white as the snow.
Arthur wants adults to be able to come and see Dreamland to have a working example of how things can be done when different “cultures” coexists meaning the peaceful Dreamland and the evil Nightmare Realm.
Nic can see the futile of Arthur’s vision and as a benevolent adviser warns Arthur for the consequences.
Arthur make his move and an enemy of him enters Dreamland and decides to take advantage of Arthur’s naivety.
So, through magic (black as a choice) he POSSESS Nic!!!!!
We then have the turning point of the story: the benevolent dragon (the King’s adviser) becomes the usurper of his throne cursing Arthur and all of his legitimate successors!
Nic’s speech isn’t red, as Random Bird pointed out, but it was a couple of pages back. Figured it was worth mentioning 🙂
Whoa.
Arthur built Camelot in the real world, patterned after the Kingdom of the Elves.
They’re walking the halls of Camelot.
NICODEMUS IS IN THE REAL WORLD???
As to the word balloons, I can see that people are concluding that Normal White means Nicodemus is Not Evil right now. I think that’s POSSIBLE — that he’s gone all cynical and nasty (or as someone else theorizes, gets possessed) later on, but it’s also possible that it just means Nic is not SHOWING his evil. He can’t speak the way he would like as Arthur is, right now, the Boss. So he’s speaking reasonably, gently, Not-Evilly… until his time comes..
Looks like we’re going to learn why ADULT humans can’t come to Dreamland.
They’re in Astoria, Sea Wasp. See Scott’s comment below p. 1078 if nothing else rings a bell.
(Funny how others’ comments keep getting posted while mine still awaits moderation. Is it the nickname or my IP address, I wonder?)
Poor Arthur. So naive. His own idealism blinds him to the truth, that his enemies would only see Dreamland as another realm to be conquered and exploited. It has ever been so with humans. I should know, I’ve been watching them for years. Biding my time. Heh heh heh. Oh wow! *snaps out of it* I better go get some coffee in me before I turn all evil and stuff. =)
They are in Astoria the capital of Dreamland they are just talking about Camelot.
I certainly would like to ask “Why not?”
Ack.
Thanks.
I’ll fix it right now.
Sorry. It’s the .ru email. We get a lot of spam from that country/email extension.
I’ll do my best to catch your comments as quickly as possible.
I have never been. But would love to.
I just need to plan something.
What Kaden and Desmond said.
He built Camelot with Astoria as its template.
THey’re in Astoria right now (Astoria is the main city of Dreamland. The one Nicodemus rules in today).
Then you’ll appreciate Arthur’s response tomorrow.
🙂
Woooooooooot!
I think that Dreamland’s various inhabitants live in peace because they aren’t human. They don’t have whatever desire within the human race to be the ruler of all. Sadly I do think Arthur’s idealism will kick him in the butt, whether it’s his enemies or Nick as he goes though with his eventual plan of preventing the next human king to be born.
most likely british themselves. 🙂
(though, if we believe the king arthur movie, then it could be romans, too 😉 )
Oops. Mea maxima culpa, I should’ve considered this. Then again, now I’m a living evidence that you have fans all over the world, even in Siberia, yesshir! 🙂
Never mind me, now that the mystery’s solved I can wait as long as it takes.
Why not = base rule of Dreamland, I figure.
It will be interesting to see though how Nic has captured and frozen Arthur to keep him alive there for over 600 years or more!
I have been quiet the last few days as nothing much to say but truly enjoying the daily fix of Dreamland. Yet I need to interject here… Arthur’s Enemy’s were multiple… His family for one… The Scott’s and more than likely the French, with the Danes adding to his worries… So Arthur did have quiet a few enemy’s to worry about and he did trust Nic implicitly… Or else he wouldn’t be his advisor… Plus I imagine he also had his problems with his knights, and the various Feudal Lords that claimed alliance to him… All and all if I was offered to be King I think I would prefer a goat hut in the woods and have my peace and quiet.
Amen.
Arthur had a LOT of problems on Earth.
Imagine seeing everything in harmony in Dreamland and thinking “Why can’t EARTH be this cool?”
That’s what’s bothering him so.
Can’t we all just get along???
I think you’ve captured the romantic version of Arthur’s personality perfectly. Arthur was idealistic and driven; it’s what pushed him to build Camelot and constantly work toward his vision of (relative) equality and peace. But that very idealism blinded him to the darkness in those closest to him, so that he was unable to even imagine that he could be betrayed, making all the more tragic such events as Lancelot’s affair with Guinevere – and Nick’s upcoming betrayal.
Ooh, I wonder if we’ll get to see Lancelot? 😉
Don’t forget to VOTE, everyone!
Sounds like this is a good excuse to go ahead and make yourself a G-mail account (and add it to your Gravatar account), so you’ll have a .com address instead of .ru. Problem solved!
😉
You can also do what I did: when my gmail address started getting moderated all the time, I added my hotmail address to the list of addresses Gravatar can use to show my avatar, and I now use my hotmail address to post here.
I mean, it’s nice that Scott is on the lookout for moderated posts, but I like being able to interact with the other posters, and this also saves him some work…
Fans in Canada?
Nonsense! No fans here. Nope, not a one…
OK, you got me… I guess you have at least two fans, in Canada…
😛
Okay, TWC just blew SQL chunks all over my browser, so apparently they’re having some “beginning of the month” issues right now. So vote whenever you can get back into their site!
😉
I’ve wondered myself about the possibility of some master villain behind the scenes, pulling Nick’s strings like a puppeteer. I suppose it’s possible; we still have a lot of story ahead of us. But to me that just doesn’t seem to fit. Nick’s ego and longevity are both huge obstacles to anyone seeking to dominate him.
I don’t know; I could be wrong. I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken.
😉
Don’t forget the picts and druids…
Yep, can’t wait for Arthur’s response…
Well, if one goes by the more historically-likely scenario, yes, the enemies of Arthur would have probably been Roman… but he was also supposedly Roman, and he defended the natives (Celts) from either Roman conquerors or Norse or Norman raiders. Or some sort of outsiders. In the end, though, England became a land controlled by Germanic peoples. Thus the name England- referring to the fact people from Angles, a region of Germany, took it for their own. Anglo-Saxon actually refers to two regions in Germany… Anyway, this is all stuff that can probably be found easily enough out on the web, and I should probably shut up.
And Saracens! Weren’t there Saracens in there somewhere?
😉
Make that three. 😉
This time, I agree with Nicodemus, the nations have the ability, power, ect. but they don’t want to. They don’t share Arthur’s ideas, they want it all to themselves. I think bringing them to Dreamland would be a HUGE mistake; not that bringing adult humans to dreamland is a mistake, but you don’t bring a wolf into a sheepfold to teach him manners. Just my thoughts.
I was thinking Mordred, myself. But then, my main exposures to Arthurian legend are Camelot and The Sword in the Stone.
For the “historical” 5th or 6th century Arthur, the enemies were the Saxons in Britain–that is, the peoples who later became the English. Arthur, a Romano-Briton, was Welsh–or of that ilk. Later, when Arthur was on the continent in Gaul (France), he fought more Saxons there, and then the Goths, who defeated him. Legend has it that he was fighting Romans, but that is unlikely at the dates he is usually thought to have lived.
The various movies–and many books also–are fiction, not historical at all.
However, given that this is a 14th century (or thereabouts) Arthur, it’s hard to tell who the opponents would be. England? France? Bretons? Scots?
The only Saracen I was aware of was Pelinor of the Questing Beast was of a Saracen family, which is why he used “unknightly” weapons–a scimitar, or was it a bow?
It was an error, since corrected.
And maybe the exception allowed through Swordy…
i cant wait for the next page i just started reading this comic two days ago 😀
Cool! The behind the scenes sketch with….. Did everyone vote? Because I don’t want to ruin the secret…
Welcome. Hope you continue to enjoy the story.
lookin’ forward to it 😀
I think that Nic turned evil because he “learnt” greed and other base emotions from humans, he’s essentially been corrupted by being exposed to adult humans. Consider the rest of the dreamland inhabitants, there’s basically no hunger, no homelessness, no wars, no real fear of pain or death. Whereas Nic has been exposed for countless years to humans who experience all of the above. Humans have a need to control their environment so that they can guarantee that nothing bad will happen to them or the ones they love whilst knowing that someone out there is also doing the same to protect their own people – and so conflict is born.
I wonder if the nightmare realm is a reflection of the growing loss of innocence in younger and younger children in our modern society?
I’m starting to believe that Nic might not be evil but feels that he needs to control the dreamlands to prevent some cataclysmic event he believes will happen (caused by humans) that he is trying to prevent
Welcome fellow Dreamer!
Be sure to show Scott your appreciation by going over to TWC and VOTING! (And buy stuff here too, if you can … 😉 )
Oh my friggin’ gah, yay! ^_^ New jukebox music! *happy dance* I LOVE the jukebox! Can’t wait to hear what’s new! *clickies*
EEwwwww, SQL chunks. I hope you were able to get them cleaned off.
Definitely means he isn’t our world’s Arthur then.
Back in the days when the Arthurian legends were even relevant, castles were very much a toned down thing. Even the biggest castles built in Wales since are nothing like as big as that one.
