Page 1079…
Happy Wednesday all!
So I’ve updated the donations page! I think you’ll like what we have for the new desktop!
I thought it’d be fun to fulfill one of the biggest requests I get. A Felicity/Nicole reunion.
ANY donation will get you the desktop image.
Any donation over $5 puts you into a pool to win a one of a kind 13×19 poster print of this image.
I hope you like it.
🙂
I also wanted to announce the winner of the Nastajia painting from our FIRST donation drive.
I went to a RANDOM NUMBER GENERATOR site and input the amount of donations we saw last week.
The random number came up as the winner being number 59.
I then counted the emails until I got to email number 59 (yes…I know…it’s VERY scientific).
And that email was that of Julie Nichols of Addison, TX!
Congratulations, Julie!
I have your address and will happily personalize the painting before I mail it out to you.
Just email me if you’d like any special notes.
That was kind of fun. And I hope Julie likes the painting.
Thank you all for reading. And I hope you are enjoying the King Arthur flashback.
Have a wonderful day.
Scott
More exposition! And we can see that Arthur did indeed had big problems.
Yay for the new donation desktop! I just love how Felicity’s character shines through in this image.
I just knew that Nicole couldn’t resist knocking out Alex and swiping the sword necklace for a night! 🙂
OK, everyone. What do you think Felicity is saying to Nicole?
Awesome reflections in Arthur’s armor, BTW. Also interesting how Nic’s eyes and expression actually look. . . . kindly.
Nic, The Good Dragon — “Because the idea is different, oh Great One. People fear what they don’t understand and what is new. But instead of showing fear, they feel they must hide it, otherwise they will be seen as weak. So instead they lash out in anger. They would rather live in misery something that they are used too, than not know what will happen next.”
Nic, The Bad Dragon — “Because, OH Great One, mankind simply cannot comprehend the complexities of the Nightmare Realm vs. Dreamland. They are weak, and will forever remain so. Unless, you TRULY think you can change them.” *Foolish Human! One Day ManKind Will Feel My Wrath!”
Almost forgot.
Nic, The Bad Dragon — “MUUUUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!” *Evil Laugh*
Because it’s a very silly place.
Haha. He said DWARF.
…
Arthur really needs to work on his word choice when discussing “physical and ideological differences.”
Heh. So Nicodemus is an Evil Chancellor, eh? Nice…
Conga Rats, Julie Nichols of Addison TX!
Might I humbly suggest, O Great and Mighty Artist, that the previous Donation art would now make a great Vote Incentive? Just a thought … (If that works out, that could give you a steady supply of new vote incentives, with no extra work other than uploading them – or linking to them or whatever – on TWC … )
😉
I wish I could squeeze an extra $5 out of my poor abused Visa card! But I must save my pennies for the books … Oh, on that note, any word on when the Store will be back up?
Don’t forget to VOTE, everyone!
P.S. Almost forgot the most important part! The page looks great today; I especially like Arthur! Be sure to pass along my complements to any and all members of your team involved in creating his model. 😀
“Smoochies?”
😉
“Just don’t tell me you’re getting icky smoochies from guys, OK?”
“I can has cheezburger nao?”
Arthur: “Why must the idea of Camelot frighten them so?”
Nicodemus: “Because they can’t understand that there are places where dragons go to do things other than loot, abduct virgins, and devour the human populace.”
Arthur: “Wait, what?!”
Nicodemus: “Nothing…”
Hah! That made me laugh
My guess would be because Camelot represents equality, but to his enemies (ie. nobles) that implies that the commoners are worth just as much as they are, which is of course not only preposterous (did I spell that correctly?), but also a violation of every sacred traditions.
In other words, the very notion that they’re not superior to the peasants hurts their poor little ego.
This next 11 weeks is going to be both fun and VERY satisfying …. THANKS!
*looks around for “Like” button* *hmmm* =^_^= LIKE *two thumbs up* This is gonna be good…
Since this is a family comic I am strongly resisting a comment about the donation incentive…. it’s just lucky my wife owns all credit cards because money would have disappeared from my credit card in the time I write this.
*SQUEEEEEEE!!!!*
I’ve never won anything before! I’d like to thank the Academy, and Donna for emailing me…and…and…:) 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
And on a ‘Today’s Page’ note: Nic is so slimy and sleazy! The bad guys who look like they’re being nice, but are really subverting everything you hold dear…those are the ones that oog me out in a big way.
To answer Arthur’s question at the end though…it’s quite simple really. It’s because it’s only a model. 😉
Congrats Julie!!! 😀
I agree, the next 11 weeks are going to be very cool to say the least. I’m very curious to see how events unfold.
The new desktop is awesome!! I so hope we really do get to see a Nicole/ Felicity reunion one of these days. *blinks wistfully* Now the only problem is I have to wait until next week for my fun $ before I can donate again, darn it. LOL.
So happy for you, Julie.
We’ll get that painting out to you ASAP!
Question for you all!
Would you rather that I add a PRINT PURCHASE OPTION for the Felicity/Nicole desktop?
In other words…I have the donation. And you can still win a print.
But for those who just want to pay for the print (say $24.99 plus shipping)…you can?
Is that something you’d like to see?
Awww. That’s cute.
Poor Arthur. He doesn’t understand at all, does he? And he apparently completely trusts Nicodemus. Alas.
I seem to recall mentioning my guess before that Nick is merely the boss BELOW the Big Boss, hired by/seduced or subverted by the real Big Bad, who’d be the head of the Nightmare Realm and planning to take the whole ball of wax. (In TVTropes parlance, this would of course make Nicodemus “The Dragon”, rather fitting). So Arthur’s bit about the Nightmare Realm, if my guess is even close to right, becomes painfully and tragically ironic, in that the only reason there’s coexistence is that the Nightmare’s plans haven’t yet kicked into motion.
Interesting. Some of the legends of King Arthur say he had a dragon. What he did with it changes of course, but one of the recurring themes is that he used it for wisdom, that it told him things…this is a most interesting way of using that aspect of the legends of King Arthur…:)
“It’s because Camelot is only a model.” “Shh!”
“Perhaps if people didn’t have to watch the dinner show either from in the dungeon or from within kicking distance of the knights…”
“Well, when people see your Knights of the Round Table roaming around, fellows like Sir Robin (the terribly brave), Sir Lancelot (who kills random wedding guests), and Sir Not-Appearing-in-this-Film, they think to themselves ‘How much loonier must the knights be that Arthur makes stay home to guard Camelot?'”
“Because it is a silly place.”
Come now, you should have KNOWN this was coming…
Yep! I am enjoying this flashback every bit as much as I thought I would…
‘sigh’ the innocence of Arthur…
“So tell me about the security on this ‘Hope Diamond’ trinket”
In many versions of the Camelot story, the dragons came a generation earlier–when Vortigern was trying to build a castle, and it kept falling down overnight. He decided to sacrifice a boy “with no father”, chose Merlin, who instead showed that the castle could not stand because a red dragon (the Britons, later Wales) was fighting with a white one (the Saxons, later England). Hence the Welsh flag still has a red dragon on a field of white and green.
That’s almost correct. The authoritative version is told in a documentary I saw once or twice.
King of Swamp Castle: “When I first came here, this was all swamp. Everyone said I was daft to build a castle on a swamp, but I built in all the same, just to show them. It sank into the swamp. So I built a second one. That sank into the swamp. So I built a third. That burned down, fell over, then sank into the swamp. But the fourth one stayed up. And that’s what you’re going to get, Lad, the strongest castle in all of England.”
it made me laugh too lol Silverwolf can always give a good laugh xD
congrats 😀
i notice this isn’t the same armor the Alex wears–does each king have his own armor?
Or maybe:
“im in ur dreamz
stealin ur smoochies!”
😉
Congrats Julie! I’m jealous!!
Continue with the great work, Scott!!
Alex’s armor was made “for the next human king” around 600 years ago, presumably after Nic usurped the throne.
http://thedreamlandchronicles.com/the-dreamland-chronicles/chapter-04/page-200/
I was going to say something about everyone needing individual armor that fits them but that doesn’t really apply in this case.
http://thedreamlandchronicles.com/the-dreamland-chronicles/chapter-04/page-200/
Instead I have two theories about the armor’s creation. One is that it was made for Arthur but he wasn’t around when it got finished so it was put into storage for the next king who never showed up. The other is that it was made by the people who wrote the tablets in the hope that one day there would be someone who could wear it.
were knights of the round table we dance whenever were able! *carries on with the song*
Looks a lot less… flamboyant? ridiculous? than Alex’s…
I’ll go with theory number 2 because Nic did not know about it. Also, the image of a knight slaying a dragon is prominent on Alex’s armor, so I suspect it was made after Nic usurped the throne.
To further your first point, Aravamas explained that this armor will fit the person it was meant to fit.
Scott, I sure hope you are prepared for all the Monty Python quotes that will be posted in the next 11 weeks. Maybe we’ll just post the entire screenplay text in a comment and get it over with! 🙂
…Hurm. I always thought he was more pale.
Camelot…CAMELOT!
It’s only a model.
LOL 😀
Hey, I own that documentary! 😉
Don’t forget that Sir Lancelot now needs to save the day…
lol XD this made me laugh as well.
“I don’t want to talk to you no more, you empty-headed animal food trough wiper…. Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries.
Now go away or I shall taunt you a second time.”
LOL!^^
Interesting that Arthur finds his enemies in this world unable to bear the existence of Camelot, whereas Dreamland and the Nightmare Realm in Arthur’s day seem to coexist with minimal conflict. Is what happened to Camelot mirrored in a Dreamland-NIghtmare Realm falling out? – and did Nicodemus have his talons into both?
I think we will learn that the answer to that is “yes.”
I like how Arthur’s expression in the last panel perfectly conveys his sentiments.
