Page 864…
Hi all…
Alexander “gets it” this chapter. I promise.
But please allow him the “obvious” questions. As I’m sure I and some of you would assume things would follow “movie logic” to some degree.
🙂
But as some of you suggested in comments…Alexander can only be “dumb” so long. And in this chapter. I tackle that. So hang tight.
I’m currently working on page 14. So I’m getting a good head start on this chapter.
I’m experimenting a bit with new textures on Paddington, a constant light source for Kiwi, and some other fun things.
Each chapter IÂ like to improve in some ways from previous chapters.
Â
I now have 800 followers on Twitter.
Only 999,200 shy of my goal for catching up to Ashton Kutcher.
We’re almost there!
Â
Have a great day…and see you guys on Friday.
Scott
Awesome comic as always Scott! ^_^ And of course there’s always a point to what’s being done, Alexander just has to figure it out… Or be told… Right?
Awwww, I wanted him to jump off the cliff….
well, whatever works for u scott. i mean after all, we can only do so much… XD but glad to hear that our comments are getting through! Yay! *throws confetti* some other places that allow this don’t ever have this kind of impact! woot. keep it coming! u have my eyes riveted for the moment… lol
thihi
Alex can be such a dumb ass at moments. ^^ I DO hope, that Scott allows him to get the knack, coz playing dumbass only works for so long.
Scott, how’s the going with your back? That’s gonna improve, eh?
I enjoy the “dumb” aspect … he is still a young guy after all … and i don’t really see it as “dumb” nearly as much as I see it as “comic relief”. Or atleast at age 40, that’s what I like to see the same type incidents in my own life as.
And we have already seen many time that he CAN be the go to guy when needed … sorta like a young Indian Jones type.
So much for him bouncing on the ground and waking up with a bloody lip like Neo.
I have a feeling Orion will throw him away as soon as Alex learns to fly, just completely disgusted with his incompetence.
But I see Dreamland as Alex’s way of maturing by the end of the book and succeeding in school and the leader Dreamland needs to at least overthrow Nick. Besides, not even Nastajia will tolerate his antics for long.
I love Orion’s tail in the 4th panel. Swoosh!
It’s still a lovely view.
I feel sorry for Orion. Poor guy is probably disappointed that THIS *gestures to Alex* is supposed to be the next King of Dreamland.
“So what DID you bring me here for?”
“I dunno, I like the scenery.”
Yeah, that’s beautiful scenery…
I’d follow you twice if I could, Scott…
Outstanding, Scott. The details, textures reflections and perspective is awesome. What will Nicole and Daniel’s eventual compromise involve and will Nicole ever be able to go to Dreamland to see Felicity? I have too many questions and can’t even imagine where this is going. Great, I like it that way!
Alex looks kind of like he’s … prancing in the last panel.
Great update man! There’s quite a bit going on and I dig it. Good luck in catching, Ashton. You’re *almost* there!
I only started reading this at the beginning of the week and I’m in love with it!! Keep up the awsome work. 😀
Oh, I’d totally be assuming the ‘movie logic’ thing, so I don’t blame Alex at all!
Haha, seems Alex is already flying in the last panel 😉
I like the way in the first panel that he does the hand quotes when he says “flying powers”. It’s the little things that make your characters seem more realer. And yeah, I said more realer, but only because they’re already realer, just now they’re moreso realer.
Thanks guys.
Love the comments and so glad you’ve enjoyed today’s page.
🙂
I agree with sco3tt…Alex doing the hand quotes in the first panel is genius. I love it. 😀
“So, what did you bring me here for?”
To get the ridiculous questions out of the way right off the bat. Why else?
Orion’s tail is in a constant state of “swoosh.” I noticed that all the centaur’s tails are in the same swooshing position. So… is their no way to model a tail so that it’ll move?
Hmmm … just one thing, Scott. Don’t have Alex throw away the foolishness completely. ^^ The inner child needs nourishment and being eanest and all this without making fun or being a fool sometimes ain’ a good thing. ^^
maby that inner child thing is the reason Alex has returned to Dreamland again(well… the little sword helped him to I think^^)… maby that’s why he can wield the sword with the eye…
I agree, Distant, but the urgency of his situation has to sink in sometime. Also, his old profile once mentioned that he’s actually smart, just undriven (Like the teachers used to despair over me, I never believed them.)
Alex is sooo going to jump off himself at a dramatic time.
Not that it won’t be awesome.
I found this comic yesterday and just had to read it all last night. It’s amazing. Thank you for creating something like this!
Yeah, it’s a great page. BTW scott, didn’t you say that you were going to see the Star Trek movie when it comes out? Well, I watched it today and it was EPIC! (Yes, I know today is the 7th. It came out early where I live :D.) I’ll say no more as this is completely off topic.
I’m gonna guess it’s not as simple as believing you can fly, Scotty?
I think I’d rather have Alex be a bit dumb and good hearted than cold-hearted and smarter.
I like how Alex still kinda considers the option in the penultimate panel.
between keeping Alex dumb and fuzzy vs. smarter but colder, I vote for colder and smarter. Or at least just smarter. …Much smarter. No character development = boring, and I for one have a hard time suspending disbelief when trying to put Alex in the mental category of ‘Chosen One.’ The only ways to balance without a smarter Alex is via Battle Butlers (Alex’s friends, other ‘subordinates’ that do all the heavy lifting for planning and strategy) or by nerfing the (so far) incredibly powerful villain. Neither is a good choice. Nicodemus is great, it would suck a lot to see him go through plot-driven badass atrophy. On the other hand, Alex is soooo far from being able to stand on his own planning capabilities that for him to suddenly develop competence would be a hard sell indeed.
is it just me…
or does Alex look suspiciously like he’s skipping in the last panel?
haha
Lets give Alex some credit, that last question: totally valid!
Then it would be The Flatland Chronicles
