Page 849…
Well we’re back in Dreamland.
Sorry again for being a bit “off” this week.
Now that the back injury is feeling better from the steroid shot…
I’m having heart issues. My blood pressure is up to 159 over 110. It’s crazy.
So I’ve been in and out of the doctor’s the last couple days. Donna’s picked up some meds for me that should lower my blood pressure until the effects of the steroids wear off.
It’s been a bit scary…and I’ve only had a couple hours a day to work on pages…but somehow have managed to get these pages up every day.
I just think they might need a bit more tweaks when I get some more time.
I’m fine. Really. Just quite pre-occupied with heart palpitations and doctor visits. But it SURE beats the pain I was in the last 3 weeks from the spine injury…ha ha.
As I mentioned yesterday…
If you have a moment…leave a customer review, ratings, and/or tags and such on Amazon.
I think it’ll help new readers who are buying the first 3 books.
And if you have any of our Kids graphic Novels…
Thank you all again. And hope you’ve enjoyed today’s page.
Can you believe tomorrow’s page will be page 850??
Yikes.
How time flies…
Scott
Greatest. Facial expression. EVER.
I feel his pain. I’ve eaten so much that it hurts several times before.
What on earth happened to his head????
man i hate when that happens…
I took Prednisone (a type of steroid- probably what you are taking) for over three years. All of the symptoms you described are normal- once the blood-pressure meds get in your system everything should be a-ok. Feel better soon!
this should teach him to stay away… for it follows… into dreamland apparently. ^^ but just a little ?…. is he holding his stomach, or something lower….? i can’t really tell the way he’s hunched… but other than that… FREAKING HILARIOUS EXPERESION!!! *laughs like crazy*
last panel looks like he got a kick to the nuts….by a armored foot
As I’m reading it, he’s holding his stomach.
Oh my – want’s to make an escape into dreamland, and what happens: he imports his ill gut as well. gotta cure it with some smooching and hugging with Nastajia (is that correctly spelled, dunno IIRC), that poor lad.
scott, you’re one tough guy, churning out pages with hurt like yours. Geez, here in vienna/austria we call such kinda people “Harte Sau” – this stands for “tough guy”, but harder and a bit rude. ^^
Alex’ expression in the last panel gonna make my ordinary day a really fine extraordinary one. ^^
stay safe
OMG Big Big LOLZ At TheLAst Panel,His Expression Is Just Priceless. Maybe This’ll Teach Him Not to Eat Too Much Candy Before Bed If Even To Do It At All.
Scott – look after yourself. Seriously. The comic is great, but you matter more. If you need a break, we’ll still be here to read when you get back.
Wow! That’s some bright armor – I can tell there’s suppose to be more light lower in the room than higher – but it doesn’t transition well. Likely just a little more light around the head would fix it.
And for the record – really enjoying Dreamland – don’t know that I mention that often enough.
I’m with Elliot on this one. I really admire your work ethics, though.
Steroid side-effects are tough – but just like Haku0ni said, they can be controlled by other meds. I went through the whole thing some three years ago and it didn’t take too long until I felt fine again.
Get well soon!
roflmto! XD
I agree with Lyda.
I know you’re going to tweak some things when you’re feeling better (I’m amazed you’re able to get _anything_ done – that is one heck of a work ethic you’ve got!), and I thought I’d add that first panel to the list – the matchup between his hands and the pillow is off, making it seem like his head is missing.
That final panel expression is classic!
I wonder if and how he will use the toilet in this armour. It would be pain in the neck to get it all off in time… and yes, I know it’s a silly thing to think of, but I just wanted to mention it.
About the heart rate: do you think it’s got something to do with the steroids? I hope that the doctors find something out about it… that is a bit worrying. I hope everything will turn out well. And I hope your son is well again too…
@sythiar: maybe that armour provides a special button in the wake of “open for relieving oneself” I’ve too wondered how Alex gonna do in case he’s got an urge to deal with. Either fling off the armour or tell it to fricking open up below, else things go “HALLEluyah, it’s a rainy day” inside.
Good morning all.
Thanks for the advice.
I’ve not started the meds yet. Hopefully this morning.
I hope it’s just the steroids. Yikes.
I’ll keep you guys informed.
I really REALLY need to get tonight’s page done. So off to work I go.
Wow.. I find it amazing that you’re still able to do all this even while worrying about your health and having some pretty serious side-effects.
Is working on Dreamland -work- per se, or is it relaxing for you? Don’t feel obligated to put a page up just because we’re looking for it 🙂 We’d rather have you whole and hale than have dreamland EVERY SINGLE DAY! although…. both was quite awesome for a while.
My money is on the Steroids … that’s why I HATE them … good luck
and the page looked great by the way
ROFL! He won’t eat like that again! Now all he needs is a nightmare creature attack when he feels like this…
BTW, I am really impressed that you’re still doing dreamland so well with all these complications. Good job.
Poor Alex! Why am I not surprised that his stomach ache came with him into Dreamland. I can’t wait to hear him try to explain this one.
Yikes, Scott! I certainly hope the high bp is a side effect from the steriods. I add my well wishes to the group!
Oh dearest Scott. No need to explain yourself. We all just want you well and back and healthy… etc. Sure am glad to finally be back in Dreamland, though…
Scott… what can I say. You have got to be the most selfless person in the world. Please keep in mind that your fans (including myself) would definitely forgive a short hiatus for you to take care of yourself. Get well soon and my advice would be to look into some natural therapies (i.e. herbs and supplements) to help offset the effects of the drugs – just as long as they don’t conflict with eachother. I do know fish & flaxseed oil has done wonders for my back issues in the past (slipped disc & torn muscles).
Thank you guys.
Dreamland is both my passion and my full time job.
I’ve sacrificed a profitable career in animation to do this full time. Moved my family to Nashville (to lower living expenses). And put all of our life savings into it.
So for me…it’s what I do. It’s the job you go to. Whether you’re sick or not.
If I’m not committed to it. I’ll never see all 6 books complete. All the sacrifice would be for nothing.
Yes I want you guys to have a page when you wake up. Of course I do. But please also know that I’m doing this for my kids, my wife, and of course for me. For our future.
So while it may SEEM that this is selfless…I assure you…I have some VERY selfish reasons for working each day.
I love working on Dreamland.
Oh…and my wife would KILL me if I screwed this up.
🙂
Please take care of yourself, Scott, and it’s an honor to support this wonderful project of yours.
*huggles Alex* I LOVE the final panel, and yeah, Alex needs a little more light around his head.
Heheheheheheh! Beautiful armor, burbly stomach. Such an ironic clash…
Sweet looking page, back to Dreamland, but I hope you’re taking care of yourself. Back pain is one thing, but your ticker is an entirely different animal altogether. Be well dude.
Wow. If its not one thing its something else. The last thing you need is to be chasing side effects of one drug with another pill.
You really need to get yourself to a good Chiropractor.
“So while it may SEEM that this is selfless…I assure you…I have some VERY selfish reasons for working each day.”
And humble too! 😀
And yes, that last expression is priceless.
Make that three giggling pages in a row. And Scott, even if this is your full-time job, you need to give yourself some sick days if you need it. Take care of yourself. We’d all miss you.
For those who wonder about revealing oneself in the armor – I have a bigger concern . . . what happens in the real world if he ‘goes’ in Dreamland? After all – isn’t it the real world where he ate too much?
**that was suppose to be relieving oneself
I hope you feel better soon!!
I received book 3 in the mail yesterday! It’s awesome!! I’m really really happy with it! And the bonus comic is so sweet! Just wanted to let you know I’m very happy!
Heart palpitations are no fun. I’ve been having ’em off and on since about August of last year (I blame moving to Los Angeles). Still no idea what’s causing them, though I think it might be a mix of stress and dietary woes. Hope yours clear up soon! They are terrifying at first.
the comic looks great, the quality hasn’t dropped, but looks like it’s gotten better! maybe just cause it’s back on the main story line, but still, the over all quality is amazing the whole story since frame 1
You take care of yourself. I think that’s the most important thing.
Man! I love that expression Alex has in that last panel. Boy that belly ache is showing him no mercy in one world or the other. ^_^
Now, you see, I can’t sleep when I’m cramping like that. I could be (and have) falling asleep on the toilet, but I have to be in the bathroom.
You should make Alex’s face on the last panel a downloadable avatar! People would love that! XD
Funniest…face…ever…
Oh man, you have just got the NACK for getting it perfect every time!
Late to the party again, sigh. The procession of the last 3 panels is great. I didn’t notice a lighting problem there, but the others that mentioned it may have a point. What I noticed was in the first several panels it looks like he’s holding his hands above the pillow, not on it. Seems like he would be pressing his hands down on the pillow over his eyes. If it were me, I would still be curled up in the fetal position if I were cramping up that bad.
And why does every one else get sick when they eat candy like that and I just get Fat!?!
“Oh…and my wife would KILL me if I screwed this up.” And what would she do to you if you “screwed up” your health, huh?
dont be putdown if you put on weight with the steroids happend with my dad for a lung condistion wen4 from 12st to 29st in 6 months but they wher powerfull ones but good news that eoes go down all beit slowly after.
love that look on his face
🙂
I think I know how Alex feels in the first half, only I don’t get this way from chocolate, but from popcorn or too much roughage…
Simple solution: eat more chocolate, and less veggies.
Man, I’ve had a bellyache follow me into my dreams before, and it sucks! ‘Course, the most recent time was my bout with pancreatitis about a year back …
Anyhoo, I definitely feel (or at least have felt) Alex’s pain!
😉
this makes me wonder, how does alex take off his armor to go to the bathroom? lol XD
I REALLY hope he doesn’t have to go potty in the middle of talking to ‘staj’ and Felicity…
He’ll be all like, “Oh, yeah, I saw Nicole, and… uh oh… I GOTTA GO!!!”
Hey, that rhymed!
This really IS one of the funniest pages so far.
Made my belly hurt as Alex’!
Or Vomitland, as it is soon to be called.
Um… If he falls asleep with a pillow pressed against his face…
Wouldn’t he suffocate in his sleep?
