Page 834…
Yup. Felicity’s going to go for it. She’s gonna take on Barklay.
Β
I’d like to take a moment to mention how incredible you readers are to me.
I know you guys get on me for thanking you so much. But really…you do so much for me and my family.
By coming here every day…you allow me enough traffic to put up ads. Which in turn feeds us.
You buy my books. You post on the blog, on the forum, on Twitter, Facebook, and email.
You encourage me and you offer advice and support.
You even come visit me at conventions.
You guys do so much. Thank you.
Β
On that note. I’d like to tell you what a couple of readers did for my boys for their birthday.
I was mentioning at some point how the boys were now into Space and such. As they’re learning about the planets and astronauts in Kindergarten.
Well I was contacted via Twitter from a reader named Rachael who actually works at NASA in Houston.
She offered some free stuff from NASA for the boys. WOW. Then her friend Linda threw some more stuff in the mix as well.
We received the package yesterday…and boy were the boys excited.
Β
SOme items of note. Rockets that actually launch. Space Shuttles that fly, books on asteroids, planets, astronuats.
Even Star Wars lightsaber pens and LOTS of stickers (Kindergarteners LOVE stickers).
We even got two signed photos of a REAL LIVE ASTRONAUT!
Just amazing.
Thank you so much Rachael and Linda.
The boys are going to draw you pictures and we’ll send them off to you along with some “goodies” as a thank you.
but nothing we send could match how cool this is.
Thanks.
Β
Anyways. I love you all. The boys always sit and sketch with me while I’m doing sketches inside books. And they always want to know where the next package is shipping to.
You guys are like extended family in ways to us.
How cool is that?
π

Scott
Still hoping to see you in a couple of weeks Scott… I’m still not sure if the boss… err… my wife… will let me play.
That’s really great Scott! I’m glad they loved it. Happy smiles can make a person’s day. So thanks!
Thats awesome Scott, I’m glad the boys enjoyed it. (who knows, maybe someday they’ll be real astronauts, if they are still interested π )
Another note: LOVE the last panel showing the size comparison between Felicity and Barklay
Hey Man,
YOU have created a whole world and an adventure … and let us come visit it everyday .. you and your family are the best.
And I am loving every page of this run … that little kitten is so much fun to watch … glad I am not one of the guys she is going after, especially Barklay … MY money is on HER.
And speaking as a family that has been to NASA in Florida literally so many times I have lost count, those gifts are fantastic!
Too often we hear the word “hero” used, but when it comes to Firemen, Policeman, Soldiers, people like Scully the pilot who landed that plane in the Hudson, and Astronauts who risk their very lives to better our Future .. those are true heroes … we could all do so well as promote them as role models for ourselves and our kids to follow.
I hope you’re planning to send them to Space Camp, man… they would have a blast at the Huntsville Space and Rocket Center, especially doing activities like astronauts would do. I know Space Camp and Academy were some of the highlights of my childhood.
yeah… same here… but go felicity! show that walrus who’s boss! and just wow on the extended family thing. Didn’t think my idiotic comments would mean so much.. X_X
Leme guess he’s fat but fast
… so who gets to be the crazy cousin(s)?
(Kidding, of course. I kid because I love–and because I’m ever-so-blankety-blank-blank ENVIOUS …)
Woh… the generosity of strangers never ceases to amaze π What kid wouldn’t love to receive a pack like that…. what adult, even π
As for thanking us readers, on behalf of this reader you’re more than welcome π Come on, as TedRx said you’ve made a whole world, you’re telling an entertaining and compelling story and you’re doing ostensibly for free! So we should be thanking you! π
Awwww! That is so cute! ^_^ Nice.
Yeah, I’m with TedRex; my money is on the kitty too. Tubbo over there doesn’t stand a chance. (On the other hand, “Old age and treachery will always best youth and ambition,” or so they say.)
Also, that is really really fun for your sons — what a cool gift. I love reading your comments (almost) as much I love your comics.
Warmly,
TGB
One of the Houston Browncoats (Firefly fan group) gave me a couple NASA patches and a NASA tote which I still use, ’cause it’s AWESOME. He be NASA math-y type of some kind if I remember right…
Still, very awesome for them! Hooray for NASA Houston. =D
.. I’m jealous. I love space too. D=>
I want free stuff from NASA. That’s just awesome.
thank YOU for such a great comic =) and awwwwww your sons are really cute!!!! love from istanbul, turkey!
you are such a cutie-pie, you & yours deserve everything that’s coming to you!
“Was”? Dude, I really doubt he’s dead.
page is great as always. Your boys are so cute. thank you for letting us your readers be a small part of your life. I always love reading you blog. sure hope you come it ohio, I would love to meet you as would my son and husban.
Wow! What a nice thing to do! At that age, space is so exciting–that is awesome! Look at how cute they are!
Scott, I don’t know if you are aware of it, but there is a site called Astronomy Picture of the day– http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ — and your boys might like it. There is a new picture up everyday of nebulae or planets, and so forth. It is really cool. Just FYI. π
Also, Felicity is so adorable!! She’s so little! XD
it looked like you had a couple of Estes/quest preassembled rockets in the kit. That’s the start to a wonderful hobby. You can get all sorts of rockets, gliders, helicopter recovery, egg launchers etc. for not a lot of money. The small motors (1/2 A, A, B) can life pretty exciting birds for the kids. However, if you go to a launch sponsored by an NAR group, you will see birds that have all sorts of cool electronics such as video cameras, still cameras and altimeters for firing ejection charges.
Model rockets are a wonderfully safe hobby. In over 40 years of hobby rocketry (see NAR) there have been zero fatalities. You can’t say that about soccer, cycling, or even care by your parents. This record exists because the adults in the field strictly enforce the NAR safety guidelines. This is a wonderful opportunity for you as a parent to reinforce the same mindset of safety protocols in everything the kids do. They will learn that you can do exciting things and maximize your chances of being able to count to 10 on your fingers when it’s time to go home.
You know I found was the best thing about those launches? Spending time with friends, their kids, and my nieces and nephews out in an open field, on a bright sunny day with the smells, sights and sounds of rockets heading up into the sky. Even if I didn’t have anything to fly, I would sometimes go just to help out and watch. it’s also a lot of fun watching kids heads explode when the first G or H Bird goes up. π
I call the ‘crazy uncle-type guy who bursts into song’ position! *grins* Nah… I’m just glad to be able to participate in some small way in TDC.
Seriously, the world you share with your readers is the real treat here and is an inspiration… it’s good to know that Dreamland can serve as a bastion for clean entertainment… that’s one of the most important things for me. Too many people put emphasis on realism in storytelling, and while the situations in Dreamland are real they are often resolved with a lot of humor and fun overlaying the actual drama.
And Felicity is totally going to take down Barklay.
(Okay, I don’t totally believe it. It’d be really cool, but Fel HAS to get caught and taken away at some point for the current Dan/Nicole scene to resolve. Not that I WANT her caught, but those are the established events.)
I definitely add my “awwwwws!” That was so sweet of them to send such fun stuff to your guys. ^_^
That’s sweet of you to thank us, but we are the ones who are truly grateful. You have an awesome webcomic that you share with us for free, you share your life and your family with us and make us feel like we’re part of it even though we might be thousands of miles apart. You rock our scocks!! I really hope hubby and I get to meet you this year either if you can make it to Otakon in Balitmore or when you’re there for Comic Con in October. *crosses fingers*
π
Thank you all. I guess this “relationship” is working if both parties enjoy the other.
Logan and Brendan grabbed a book, and the autographed picture of the astronaut and took them to school to show the class.
They were so excited this morning…it was adorable.
Thank you all again and hope you enjoy the rest of the day.
I better get working on more pages!
That’s awesome. Kind of makes me wish I had a cool job like that. Of course, if your kids ever get interested in the economics of healthcare, let me know. I’ll hook ’em up! 8^)
Scott you and your family deserve it! You are letting us into your world and it’s only fair that we repay the kindness. Hopefully sometime down the road I can repay your kindness. Hope to see you at SD ComicCon!.
I soooo cannot wait for your movie/animated flick. Either way I am there!!! and I love the books!
Now that is something I would have died for when I was young. You are such a good father, Scott. π
Wow, I’m just surprised that poor Nicole isn’t screaming about being dangled by one arm yet. I would’ve been feeling like my arm was going to come out of its socket by then.
Is no nice callsing peopl lardy :< you should not endorse such behaviour in comics, especially if youre planning on doing comics for kiddos
Felicity has the skills, but I wonder if Barkley is surrounded with natural padding!
I’m so glad for Brandon and Logan! That is so cool!
I preorded book 3 yesterday; everything seems fine! The shipping price was reduced to a much more reasonable $7.82! I’m really excited about the new book, and the preorder special book! That’s such an awesome bonus!
OH NOES! they be stealin my bucket!
well it’s been awhile since i last posted a comment but well let me just say i’m srry i have almost never talked on here never seen you at cons and never sent you anything and i just want to say i’m srry and that i’ll try to talk more and i’m glad you also include me in your family
-thuranor
That’s an amazing gift. =D My mom’s best friend from college, her husband works at Goddard Space Center. The thing I love most is he has a button that says, “Why Yes, I Am A Rocket Scientist.”
I’m glad they enjoyed them Scott and thanks!!!
Very cool swag for the kids. π
Go Felicity! She’s definitely doesn’t have the height advantage.
Every time I see this comic, I’m impressed by the capability of the graphics engine. And, on top of the beautiful visuals, the story is one of the best ones I’ve found (and I am addicted to free webcomics, so I’ve seen a lot). Keep up the good work!
You’re my hero, Scott!
π Thank you all!
Wow…just went through the entire archive, and I want more!!!! I am even thinking of making a Paddington costume for a convention!
Hey, Scott!
I just got that message about the $10 postage refund on my Felicity Figure and Books One and Two, and wanted to stop by and thank you! I know that’s probably not enough for you to pick me out from the crowd of people that’ve bought your awesome handiwork, but oh well!
Thanks again!
-Ryan
Wow! Your son’s got some pretty nifty swag. And I love Felicity’s spunky attitude. This is my favourite webcomic, and the first thing I check everyday, so thank you for the great read and keep up the good work.
Oh wow… I just started reading your comic today, at about 3 in the morning, and finished at 10 at night. I have absolutely fallen in LOVE with your comic, it’s so amazingly done… I’d love to see a movie of this someday… It would be a box office hit for sure! Keep up the wonderful work. I’m DEFINATELY glued to my seat for this comic.
It only took me about 6 hours…
No new page yet? I’m going to go insane waiting…
it looks like FelicityΓ’β¬β’s going to Go Ninja! ;3
Eventually Felicity will reach Nicole to rescue her–unless more reinforcements show up.
I get the feeling Wilbur is immobilized from shame, having been downed by a kit.
I kind of get the feeling there’ll be something along the lines of ‘let’s forget that ever
happened’ between the guards later on.
Many worse names she could have gone with.
