Awwww! I can so sympathize with Nicole. I always wanted a pony too when I was little. Living next to a dairy farm, I have to wonder if ponies smell better than cows. Cows are are r-e-a-l-l-y stinky. lol!!

Poor Nicole. Dan really cut her with that one. I wanted a pony growing up, but instead I found several video games with horses so I’m satisfied.

Nicole’s the type of girl that would want a pony. Doesn’t seem like the boycrazy type — and the rest of us gals are always horse crazy!
horses smell way way better than dairy cows. usedta live in farm country, though not on a farm. mostly with cows you end up smelling their manure.
horses are a LOT of work. lotta them getting abandoned now because they cost a lot.
our friend said he wanted a pony for christmas in front of his 4 year old daughter… so she and her mother found a stuffed pony, white with purple sparkly hooves and purple sparkly hair. it has a place of honor on his desk at work, he says. moral of the story? santa ain’t got nothin on 4 year old girls. : p.

I never wanted a pony as a kid. Family friends kept horses, and I was terrified of their big teeth. However, I’d probably have that expression if someone started teasing my otherwise happy inner little girl about all her bunnies. Meanies.
ok, ease up a bit on the teasing dan… we don’t want a core meltdown… her world has already been racked by earthquakes of insane news. and a crossover isn’t a bad idea, now that i’m actually awake. XD.

also loved the link to the dreamer, did’t know that one yet, but then again, i’m dutch so i don’t have standard civil war knowledge,(got ww2 for that) anyway, it’s a great comic, both in art style as well as story, same goes for yours =)
I was having trouble on my end last night, so no “first” post for me today. 🙂 Wow… Nicole really looks hurt by Dan’s flippancy. Also, the thought of Alex in a dress is just funny! Can’t wait until tomorrow…
Nicole’s expression could mean either she’s feeling embarrassed or she’s about to go “flash-backing.”
I don’t think it looks like she’s hurt, I think it looks like she’s surprised from remembering something. What did she remember? oo ooo!
And just FYI, Weertangel, The Dreamer takes place (partly) during the American Revolution, about 85 years before the American Civil War (though I suppose it could count as one in many ways). So it’s colonial times. …um, make that late-1700s, since “colonial times” lasted longer in other parts of the world and therefore isn’t as descriptive as we might think. Anyway, I love historical fiction, especially from that time, so I love The Dreamer.

I’m really feeling sorry for Nicole. I hate how she’s being treated like the bad guy because she doesn’t believe the boys. Any other person would react like she is. Don’t be so awful, Dan!
Hehe. Although this might be me assuming you did it deliberately because I’ve been taught to pick apart stories… I think it’s clever how this page makes us girls feel a bit closer to Nicole, like we can relate to her as if she’s a real person… because let’s face it, most little girls want a pony at some point in their life. I know I did, for 11 whole years! ^_^

In a way I really feel sorry for Nicole. She used to be tough as nails character and now you’re slowly taking her apart revealing weaknesses in her we never thought she had – like the ones in her childhood for example. Who’d have thought she grew up like a perfectly normal little girl… 🙂
And just for the records (in case someone reads this post, which I somehow doubt): I am/was a girl and I never really liked ponies, or horses. I was about the only girl in my class that never ever would have wished for a pony for my birthday… *grins*

Yes I do want to bring out each of our character’s personalities. Sometimes it takes 800 or so pages to do it…but I do enjoy making the characters whole this way.

of course it’s good to show the character’s personalities, but you got to admit that having Nicole look err… odd ^^…. isn’t realy a climax…
Seeing Alex in a dress reminded me of a Reboot episode where Enzo ends up as the trapped princess instead of a heroic knight.
If there is a crossover, and I think it would be a fun idea, I hope it’ll be an unofficial non-canon one so as not to ruin the story universe you two have created.

I just wanted to say how much I admire all the work you do. You have a wonderful happy family and manage to produce a glorious comic. Then, on top of that… You do other projects! Wow. Just, wow. Please keep up the good work and know that there are a great many of us that appreciate everything you do.
I promise any crossover (which we haven’t even begun to think about yet) will be out of canon. It will not be part of either of our stories. The same as the guest pages I did for Earthsong and Wapsi Square. Just for fun.

Omg! I love it the alex in the dress! 😀 I’m a rabid fan girl of The Dreamer so it made me chuckle. Lol Now you gotta get Lora to make one of Bea in Alex’s outfit in Dreamland. 😮
One way to do a crossover is as a mutual “cameo.” It can be canon, so long as the crossover character does not become a major part of the story line. The crossover character can have an important conversation, can move some major part of the scenery, etc., but must not require that you fully understand the character’s backstory to make your story complete. That said, if you do know the backstory, it should not contradict anything in either canon.
I think something’s up with the pony. It’s reminded her of a memory she had of being in Dreamland. Maybe of the centaurs. I still wonder, though, what are the chances that she just HAPPENED to be best friends with Felicity, one of the main characters? And this is my favorite online comic, by the way, of all time. I love this!!! *bounces*
