THE BOOKS ARE IN THE STORES!!!!
THE BOOKS ARE IN THE STORES!!!!
Ok guys. I’ve been talking about this for almost 3 years now. Some of you were around when I got my first rejection from the retailers who wouldn’t pick up Dreamland.
So I published the books and sold them myself off the site. And you guys supported me.
But a good deal of you waited for the books to hit stores. You wanted to purchase from Barnes and Noble, Borders, or any of your favorite book retail chains.
Well…as of today…I have not one…but TWO books out in stores.
The Dreamland Chronicles Book One!
ISBN: 9781600103070
Ed’s Terrestrials
ISBN: 9781600103100
Dreamland Book One is 300 pages. The first 4 chapters. A LOT of book.
Behind the scenes, Extra Covers, a Map, and more.
Ed’s Terrestrials is a funny graphic novel for kids 5-10 about 3 aliens who crash into a boy named Ed’s treehouse and befriend him.
Both books are available.
Now…here’s what I need ALL of you to do.
1) If you are one of the readers who wanted to buy Dreamland at the store. Please go to your local book retailer and ask them to get one for you (unless they have on in stock).
2) If you ALREADY have the book…please STILL ask your store to bring one in. Even if you don’t buy it…it’ll be at your local store for someone else to get.
3) Tell your friends and family. Word of mouth is HUGE.
For the last 7 years I’ve been working on Dreamland to get it to where we are today. I have at least 3 more years to go.
As most of you know…I’ve put tens of thousands of dollars into the production of this series and this is my full time job.
These books CAN be a big support of keeping this my full time job. And allowing me to finish this series. So even if you’re broke you can still help by getting a friend or family member to pick up the book. It’s not much to ask…and you get a lot of book for the price.
You all know I don’t like asking for much. I don’t have a donation button. I don’t cry poverty. I don’t make excuses and miss updates.
I try to be very professional.
So you know even asking you all for this is a bit uncomfortable. I don’t want anyone to feel pressured.
But I need to prove to the Barnes and Nobles, the Borders, and all of the retailers that we DO have a place in the book stores. And I can’t do this alone.
So if you have time this week. And feel so inclined. Please go and help us out. We’d really appreciate it.
Thank you all. We wouldn’t be here without you. At page 752. Over half way through this epic adventure.
You give me daily inspiration and courage to keep doing Dreamland. You guys are the best.
Thank you for being on this journey with me and my family.
Again. Please go to your local book store. Wherever you are in the world. And order the books. Any book store should be able to get it. We really need your support.
Thanks
Scott
I just ordered 2 copies of “Book One” and Pre-Orders 2 copies of “Book Two”. Love the series and so does my girlfriend! The other set is for her! And As soon as more funds come in, “Book Three” is on the list! Congradulations and keep up the amazing work! Here from;
Milton, Ontario, Canada!
We’re Rooting for you!
Hm…I don’t get it.
Does that only mean that the books can be bought at a “real” store now or is there really a new book that can be bought?
I’m confused, but I think I’m with Blackbot on this. I already have copies of the original editions of #s1-2, but I’m seriously thinking of buying extras (plus copies of #3) for my nieces and nephew.
Here comes the confusion: Do I have to buy them from a “brick and mortar” store in order for the purchases to help you accomplish what you need to accomplish or will buying them online also show the interest you’re looking for (I know the sales will help either way)?
In the old days, a trip to Barnes and Noble wouldn’t be a big deal, but I’m disabled now and I don’t drive. I buy everything online except groceries; that’s nearbly but still enough of a hassle.
I really want to help. I’m just not sure I can help via the method you’ve outlined.
Thank you guys.
Buying the books at a REAL BRICK AND MORTAR STORE is what we’d like to see. It shows the buyers (the people who order the books for the brick and mortar stores) that there is an interest.
That’s our number one choice.
If you can’t do that…then definitely…buying it online from B&N, Borders, etc. is good too.
And if you can’t do that (or just really want the books personalized with sketches) you can order directly from me.
This is all about trying to let the bookstores know that Dreamland has an audience other than just the website. If they see people buying the books from the stores…they’ll order more.
If they do that. THen we may see more readers who’ve never read Dreamland online.
Thank you guys so much.
Thank you so much Maverick! I got both your messages and REALLY appreciate it.
Scott, thanks for clearing that up.
I’ve thought about the logistics and I guess I wouldn’t have to go to the store myself. I’m sure I could simply ask a friend to pick up my copies for me (duh!).
Don’t worry, we fans will take care of you. 🙂
Grats on getting the books picked up by stores.
I’m assuming they are only in the States right now though? I’m in Canada, so I don’t think I’ll see them up here. And I don’t think I’m crossing the river over to Michigan anytime soon.
Scott,
I want you to know I called my local B&N to order copies of the first Dreamland book and was told they were in stock. As I told you yesterday, I’m unable to go there myself due to my disability (I am able to work from my home). So I asked a friend if he would go to B&N to pick them up for me. I purchased 4 copies as gifts for my nieces and nephew. I plan on giving these (and book 2 when it comes out) to them for Christmas.
Currently, they’re heavy into manga, but I believe they will like the Dreamland story and art. As a group, they like fairies, princesses, romance, adventure, pirates, and science.
I hope you will be able to finish your epic story. I’m hooked and soon, my family will be too (Bwa hah-hah-hah!) 🙂
As a side note to Channa, Scott has said the books will be available worldwide, so you should be able to purchase them from a bookstore in Canada. If your local bookstore doesn’t have any in stock, just ask them to order some.
I just ordered the 1st book.
Thank you very much for the beautiful artwork and wonderful story.
*is stunned by the beauty of Book One* Just picked up our copies of the first book!
And for those who want to buy them in Canada, that’s where I’m from, and I just got them at Chapters. Maverick and I(I’m his girlfriend, just for the record), had to order them in because they didn’t have them in stock, but the wait was worth it!
And kudos to you, Scott, for writing a wonderfully creative story.
Thank you Lady Jane and Maverick! I can’t tell you how thankful I am for the support! I owe you guys a trip to the great white north to do some sketches in the books. Promise.
Thank you also Ruusan2. Thank you for reading.
Hey Scott,
Just got through reading book one that I ordered and picked up at the local B&N and I loved it!
I just found your site last moth, so reading the book was the first time I was fully exposed to the material and I found it so enjoyable. Also my wife found it laying around in the family Library (the bathroom) amongst the other books and magazines and she loved it too!
We both can’t wait to order book 2 from the local store this month, and then meeting you in person hopefully for autographs and chat at Heroes Con (truly the best con around) this next summer.
Thanks for your vision and hard work …. it certainly was, and is, worth it!
TedRx
Wow….I’ve reached the “throne room”. I’ve arrived! (that’s where ALL the good reading material goes).
🙂
I’ll DEFINITELY be there for Heroes Con and would LOVE to do a sketch in all 3 books (book three will be out by then too). THank you again and see you soon.
Oh…and tell your wife thank you as well.
oh yay!! That’s so awesome! Congratz!!! 🙂
So I went to my local bookstores, three to be exact and asked for them to order copies of both Book #1 and Book #2. This way they will be on the shelves. I was told #1 is available, but that #2 is not going to be able to be ordered till Nov 18th? Now I know this state has some crazy release laws but it didn’t sound right. If their suppose to be available worldwide, then I should be able to order them rather then have to wait. Just thought it was strange and was wondering if this sounded correct?
Thanks Krisslanay…
Yes that’s correct. They actually just got the books in today. So it’ll be another week or two till they’re on the shelves (book 2).
Thank you so much for ordering. I can’t tell you how much this helps.
Received Book1 today and the artwork is just amazing.
You have a wonderful gift and thank you so much for sharing it.
Thank you very much Ruusan2!
Took a quick look at a web based swedish bookstore and noticed that they had the Dreamland Chronicles in store, this will be the next book I buy(when I have cash to spend on other things than food for my family). Found the website about one and a half week ago and I’m hooked badly 😀
This is one of the best “comics” I’ve ever read in my life! Kudos Scott!
