Sooooo….about that letter?
You know the LIFE CHANGING ONE????
Ha.
OK….so I have a question for you guys…
We’re speaking to advertisers. And we want to target things YOU guys like.
SO we have a thread below….
http://thedreamlandchronicles.com/2009/09/21/tell-us-what-you-like/
If you have a moment…please post something that would help.
Also…and this is kind of weird to ask…
If ANY of you work for a company that might want to advertise…please have them contact us.
We’ve pretty much passed the limit of what your typical adbrokers are capable of handling.
In fact…they’ve only been able to fill up 30% of our page views. Yes. 6 adbrokers combined couldn’t handle the traffic.
So we’re learning the ropes of selling ads directly to corporations.
If you…or someone you know has SALES experience…and wants to help us out (and make some good money on commissions)…give me a shout.
Donna and I are eager to move on this.
Thanks all!
first! yay for me! come on Alex.. tell her about it, don’t be all like “oh yeah.. forgot…”
“Back off, woman! I just found out that Nastajia is my happy thought!”
“What?!?!?! Felicity should be your happy thought! How dare you!” ** SLAP!!**
OK. Time to guess what will be in Felicity’s response. Here’s my guess.
“Dearest Nicole,
Can you please send me a region-free DVD copy of the first season of “Tiger Girl Noritaku” anime? I know it takes a year on average to get a dubbed version stateside, and about 3 years to get it distributed to Australia, but you wouldn’t believe how long it takes for ANYTHING to show up in the markets down here!
I hear it’s about a cute tiger girl (hint, hint!) and her bumbling human apprentice girl (hint, hint, hint!) and the three princes that get into fights with each other trying to win their attention (wheeeee!!). Just stick the bead-bag whatsawhozie into a manilla envelope with the DVDs and they should all arive fine. Orion says that’s not possible, but does he look like a digital media distribution expert to you? I thought not.
Oh, you’ve never seen him, that’s right. Well, let me put it this way. When I want to know what’s the best brand of “Oat”-meal, I’ll ask him.
Yoi yume o. (That’s Japense for Sweet Dreams!)
— Felicity
Now the question is, did Alex actually remember to pick up Felicity’s reply before he woke up? It could be another one of those Unseen-Scenes that Scott seems to be fond of lately. (Like Alex learning how to instantly wake up.)
NIIICE, Alex. Real quick on the uptake, aren’t you?
Ho HO! So much happened that you forgot eh?
*Dan walks in* “Is every thing alright in here?” *Sees Alex* “Any mail for me?”
I would have to agree that is a probable response considering… That being said, I think Felicity is going to ask about any techniques to steal Nicole has learned. Felicity is a thief after all…
I wonder… If Nicole slaps him before he goes to Dreamland, will the slap mark still be there? Its an interesting idea, isn’t it?
If he didn’t remember the letter then it stands to reason that he didn’t remember to pick up the reply.
LOL At least it didn’t take him a few pages like last time when he brought back the medicine bag.
I’d forgotten too, but Alex doesn’t have the excuse of waiting for weeks.
I just had an idea. Does the item in the bag have to fit inside it, or can it just be connected?
If it just has to be connected, then what I would do is tie it to a helicopter, take the helicopter into Dreamland, get the others in the copter, wake up, and bob’s your uncle, you have a technique for evacuating Dreamland, leaving Nicodemus on his own… Poor billy no-mates.
[admittedly you’d have to get Alex to agree to be tied to a big machine whilst asleep… Or, for that matter, tied up to anything…]
Great idea.
But the magic is the bag and parchment.
That’s all. Nothing else.
But helicopters are definitely a fun spin.
🙂
The most profound thing I’ve noticed for yesterday as well as today is Alex’s Eyes. I mean Look at him. he is Cheerful, his eyes sparkle and he looks genuinely upbeat. anything before that he has this malaise about him almost lethargic, and I haven’t seen that in his expression since he woke up. I like where this is going.
Great Job again Scott.
Felicity isn’t really in any condition to make a reply yet. Just because she’s not dying anymore doesn’t mean all’s well. She still got tossed across across the cavern by an angry dragon after all.
I love how Nicole still looks uncomfortable bringing up Dreamland, and then is excited about the thought of reading Felicity’s reply.
Hmmm.. well, my brother-in-law works for Rolling Stone magazine, or is that the wrong demographic?
Remember that Nastajia offered to write the response while Felicity dictated.
I expect that Alex has the response, though it may be private and we’ll never know what’s in that return letter.
Hey, Scott!
Let’s find out! Remember, no blood, no foul (just like in hockey) 🙂
Orion or Nastajia must have given him the bag. There is no way Alex would have remembered it on his own.
Darn! So much for my DVD idea.
Is it erasable parchment? They don’t have pencils in Dreamland, do they? I’d think pens would be the only way someone could write on the parchment in Dreamland, presumably with erasable ink.
Maybe the ink can be erased magically in Dreamland, allowing it to be reused.
Lots of young people read Rolling Stone. And they try very hard to stay relevant.
Scott, do you have any breakdown on the demographics of your website visitors? I’m sure you have unique pageviews and IP addresses/domains/countries, but how about age, income, male/female, parents reading to kids, mustache length, etc.?
Some info is here…
http://www.quantcast.com/thedreamlandchronicles.com
Rolling Stone magazine is great.
I’d like to offer a “finders fee” for those of you who can set something up.
So definitely let your brother know.
OK, LazerWulf, just don’t gripe when the updates seem to be moving too slowly. Remember: this is paced not for 5 pages a week, but for the book…and it works both ways. Some things need to be left out, or implied off-screen.
I like how hard Nicole is trying to look nonchalant, even though she is burning up to know how Felicity responded to the letter.
BAM! Trying to kick up some internet flare for my own personal brand of marketing. I’m no Felicia Day, but we’ll see how it goes! 🙂
“Oh.. oh yeah!”
Sheesh Alex, It took you long enough convince Nicole that Dreamland exists and that Felicity exists and to get Nicole to write a letter and you forgot?? Ha! You still haven’t changed.
That brings up a good point.
To be an effective leader, you need to convince others of your being responsible with their concerns. Alex has a ways to go on that one.
But, in Alex’s defense, a lot has been going on–a difficult flying lesson, the threat of lots more lessons, grappling with his feelings for Nastajia. None of those help him remember Felicity and the letter.
good point. He just survived being dropped off a cliff ^^
Excuses, excuses. . . .:-)
Wow. I’m in the minority in almost every category.
Okie dokie! I’ll ask him & see what he says. 😀
Don’t worry Limax.. I’m in the minority in a lot of the catagories too. lol!
