I loved the Princess Bride reference in NCIS I saw the other day (I know it was a rerun on USA, but anywho….). Thank you Scott for throwing random bits of our pop culture in here! I love another one do later with T-shirts, but I’ll be nice and not spoil it for those reading for the first time. BTW, awesome char effects all around them.
YAY! that was awsome! ‘Vizzini- “that would be absolutly, tottaly, and in all otherways inconcievable! No one in gildur knowswhat we’ve done and no one in florin could have gotten here this fast. *leans back* Out of curiosity why do you ask?”
The funny thing about Princess Bride references is that they’re so well-known (and this one the very most) that it isn’t enough any more to merely get the reference.
Merely getting it and pointing it out tends to indicate that you think you’re being clever when you’re just stating the obvious.
Quoting the follow-up lines is one step up from that
Making obtuse counter-references to the same film is another step up again.
But the optimal response is to go full meta… either by predicting the course of reactions to the reference and responding to the end of that reaction-chain… or by referencing something else which makes the same reference for a nested double.
Oh, no, Nicodemus has been replaced by Vizzini from the Princess Bride!
theres that word again, I don’t think it means what you think it means
Hahaha, nice one Wolf.

You keep saying that word, I do not think it means what you think it means.
