Page 2103…
Happy Friday all!
Hope you enjoyed this week’s pages.
Been a long time plotting this and hope it was worth it to you all.
Thanks to Tracy for the wonderful pages this week.
🙂
Have a great weekend.
See you all on Monday for more.

And so, heroic at the end, the Dragon of Dreamland passes away after saving the children. Or so it seems. Perhaps the sheath will still arrive in time, or Merlin and Niviene carrying the entire plant.
Wow…I spent so much of the series hoping that Nick would get his just desserts, and now I’m still hoping that there is a way to save him! Good storytelling!
Feeling quite sad now 🙁
Actual tears right now. Nicodemus was one of my favourite villains, and now after so many years he’s gone. RIP.
Am I the only one who is constantly amused by the fact we have a tragic, or dramatic, or sad, or worrying moment… that is immediately followed by “HAPPY FRIDAY!!!” or the like?
First, it would spoil the story.
Second, I don’t think the sheet or the plant could help. Nothing remains here but empty shell.
Wow. Two major characters in two different webcomics in two days. Rough week to be a character in a webcomic.
(Spoiler Alert)

(Stand Still Stay Silent is the other.)
This page in such a huge contrast with this one…

(where is that stench of human children, Nic?)
Ah. Memories.
🙂
Yea, I know….
Nicodemus will be no more?!?!?
My heart–great page. He knows it’s unlikely any Dreamlander tears will be shed over his death, he probably always knew that.
I thought the leaf was supposed to give immortality. What am I missing?
me too 🙁
not immortality. just extra life time to live. that extra lifetime he gave to restore the life to tht children that Gilgamesh took.
TDC – a story of redemption. Bravo, Scott!
Aw no!! Been saying since I started reading Dreamland that I hoped Nick didn’t die in the end.
What other webcomic is that?
Whilst he had no love for humans, child or no, even Nicodemus could not countenance the wholesale murder of the innocent especially when he had an unwitting hand in it.
Quickly, his hoard is up for grabs!
We haven’t seen the body yet.
(Traitor. Usurper. Villain. Racist. Ultimate Evil Collaborator. One noble act, and he’s forever remembered as a hero? Oh, well, never mind me, just been passing by.)
It’s crossed my mind too.
Stand Still Stay Silent done by Minna, the same artist that did A Redtail’s Dream.
I wouldn’t say one noble act, but THE noble act. He was healed when he ate the leaf, so it’s not even a matter of “well he was dying anyway.” I don’t know that he’ll be remembered as always heroic, I’m sure those things you pointed out will not be lost on the Dreamlanders. Nastajia’s brain is probably giving her a 404 error message right now.
Nicodemus, for all his faults, still had a conscience.
At this point, I’d be disappointed if we didn’t. 😀
A lot like Severus Snape. A terrible person but one good final act canonizes him.
Well done, Dragon. Well done.
Where’s the green blood that was on his lower lip? Page 2101 had it.
He is all that, indeed, but asks that he be remember “This way.”
He can ask, but whether his dying act will sway those whom he has wronged is another matter. History is written by the winners and the survivors. Alas, Nicodemus, you fall in neither of those categories right now, so you can hope for the best as your last breath rattles out of your body.
As is true (rather than the original quote, which was for many good reasons in context was the opposite) the good that people do lives on after them, while the evil is often interred with their bones.
I doubt anyone will be erasing the thousand years of tyrannical dominion, but I’m not going to begrudge human nature to give him a nice little statue somewhere in memory of his good deeds, something that will remain when the last damage he did has faded.
Goodbye Nicodemus. You were an awesome villain, and I’m glad to see you managed to do what’s right for Dreamland in the end.
Very dramatic page. Looking forward to Monday’s post!
Oh I love when a villain is redeemed, even if it’s sad.
/me haz tears.
Bwahahahahaa…
Lewt!
Bad guy redeemed at the last minute has been a heart-warming concept from the criminal hanging beside Jesus down to Darth Vader (not making a correlation. One was real, the other was Darth Vader). Boromir holding off the orcs. (Of course he wasn’t exactly a “bad guy”). And now Nicodemus the dragon.
It would have been nice though if he’d have said “Please remember me…” Old habits die hard.
Yush. A little bitty one, but a conscience nonetheless. One that saved people in the end.
Yesh. Both are part of my top-3 web comics. (The third, a totally different concept: Girl Genius.) Oh and Cassiopeia Quinn. FOUR, four favorites. Wait… Schlock Mercenary. Five, FIVE favorites…
You know how it is with unusual greatness. It’s just difficult to pick between.
Follow-up: BTW, if any of the above-mentioned comics has a main character die off within the next 30 days I’m just gonna swallow pills. ‘Cos although it didn’t have the same effect, Girl Genius just knocked off a main character too. Seriously… this has been a week for it. I think these people all got together and said, “Hey, let’s all do some wrist-slashers for the last week of June…”
BTW… “Happy Friday”. SERUSLY???!!!???
Most of us are already used to it. The “Happy …day” was below much more tragic pages than this one.
Got that, thanks 🙂
Ugh! I can’t go back to that ugly 3D Model art after getting this beautiful 2D art. o_O; I really really hope the author will commission our artist here to go back and redo the old pages for an omnibus so that we can get a full book with a consistent style.
I thought the scar was on his left eye?
Nevermind…
Harken back to these pages, perhaps?
