“What if…” The most treacherous two words in the English language IMO. They can make a person get lost in a see of ” what could be/could have been” so that he won’t take a step forward and live.
Perk up Danny boy! You can do this! You MUST! 🙂
And remind me again why Dan is a “much better king” then Alex? Sure Dan wrote up all the tactics that won the battle for Astoria but there’s obviously no way in hell that he would have gone to Dreamland to personally do anything. He’s an armchair general much better winning wars on the highest difficulty in strategy war games.
I know, I l know, Dan’ll most likely be in Dreamland on the final page of the chapter, and once there (after no doubt taking his sweet time about it) he’ll grow to be the king Dreamland needs, but GAH he is REALLY pissing me off! I’m kind of hoping that even Nick regrets thinking that surely Dan is the answer to all his problems solely because heritage dictates he’s the true king.
Then it’s time to call the Superfriends and hope they are not on vacation. Because if they are, then we need a rocket ship to get us the heck out of here!
I found you last week, and I have finally caught up to current. Gripping story, with some seriously heartfelt moments mixed in. Your doing great things!
Well, he’s not really King yet, is he, though? Right now he’s beset with fears and concerns. He’s being thrown into a high pressure situation, with the knowledge he’s going to have to do things he never dreamed of doing to win. Qualms and hesitation are natural. Let’s see what happens when he gets to Dreamland. If he bungles this completely, THEN he’ll be a bad King. But if he gets there and suddenly finds he’s not only got what it takes to command, but he’s GOOD at it, and starts beating the NR spitless, then he might not be so bad, after all.
Why are co-rulers such a foreign concept to everyone? Seriously, Dan’s brain + Alex’s brawn = majority of problems, solved. (Narnia had two kings AND two queens at the same time, and they had pretty much a golden age right about then, didn’t they?)
Now we just need someone to tell Nick that Dan has zero fighting experience and that Alex does technically fight for Dreamland (granted, indirectly) so we can see his realization that all he does ever since Arthur is make everything worse.
Sheesh harsh huh? Give him time. He just got the news. He’ll rise to the occasion. And I think she’s not pushy but filled with some anxiety. Remember they wanna attack earth!!
Alex, wasn’t all that great of a King in the beginning… had a lot of training with Orion and others…
Dan just needs some time.
and I have no worries about Alex and Nastajia… if the King & Queen of Elves can make it to earth, then there’s a way for them to be together in one world or the other… we just get the fun of finding it 😀
If Dan abdicates it doesn’t just fall back to Alex? Anti-climatic but it would solve the succession issue and Alex isn’t unprepared.
Of course this frees Alex up to fight the NR when they hit Earth…
I somehow doubt that the next heir will not be born for a couple of centuries. 🙂 I got the impression from our Dreamland history lessons that up until Arthur was taken out of the picture, there had been a human king of Dreamland consistently…which suggests that there’s at least one “heir” per generation to step in once the current king dies. After all, humans can’t live for centuries just to wait on the next heir. 🙂

MAN UP Dan!!!
So I see how Nicole is supporting/pushing Dan along, but she sure is …. pushy!
“But what if I can’t?”
Short Answer: Then we’ll be no worse off than if you hadn’t tried.

If Dan can’t,then maybe he’s NOT fit to be the true king! The next heir probably won’t be born for another century or so.
How many more pages after this one?
Much better?
No
The one who was SUPPOSED to be king?
Yes.
Thank you!
4
So the sword chose someone to be king who is entirely unqualified for the job?
Dan makes a great adviser, but a crappy king.

Things like this have been known to tear brothers apart.

Wednesday’s page is on its way. Just need to be done with this meeting first.
Oh no really???? Only 4 more? Say it ain’t so Scott?? Are you planning a sequel? This story has become a favorite part of my week – sigh…

and thats a terrible Gravitar… Kill me now.
I think he means 4 left in this chapter.
I believe Scott said it the story was 24-26 chapters total.
I wouldn’t say “a terrible Gravitar”… but it doesn’t fit a Steve either 😛 LOL
No, it would go to the next in line, which has nothing to do with blood relationship. just who the sword chooses.

That’s just it – The NR is about to attack Earth.
There’s no time to wait around for Dan to mature into a decent king. He needs to take action, and do it asap.
We don’t know yet. Give him a chance before you decide what sort of king he will be.
But the problem is that only one can be in/going to Dreamland at a time. Kinda makes co-rulers impractical, at best.
All you have to do is go to Gravitar.com and register and choose one.
Too much commitment required.
