Page 1551…
Well…here is page one of the two pages of “explanation” I’m adding for you all.
I know not EVERYONE was confused…but a good portion of you were.
As some of you pointed out… it may not be as confusing when read in book form.
The hieroglyphics pages were weeks ago to you online. But only pages ago in book form.
Either way. I hope this (and tomorrow’s page) clears things up a bit.
Thank you all for all of your feedback. You all help make Dreamland a better read.
And please don’t forget to get the word out for the Book Six Kickstarter.
Think of the Nicodemus Plushes!!!!
Great, now because of that “Indeed” at the beginning of the last panel, I now hear the king in the voice of Teal’C from Stargate! 😛
Nah. The earth gate is still buried under cover-stones at Giza, isn’t it?
(.. I think this whole chapter is going to be riddled with Stargate references, and Scott’s only got himself to blame.)
SO wish I had funds for the Kickstarter…
Hopefully I will before the Kickstarter is over.
As always, I’m lovin the story! ^.^
Maybe the shadow wraiths are constructing a portal on earth as we speak?
Then again…
As a matter of fact, that was happening already. The “Indeed” merely strengthened it.
Do they even want to return? They live in a pretty neat place. 🙂
Though I suppose it could get lonely up there.
Daaaaaaamn, even though you can only barely see her, I’m loving the shading on Nastajia in these panels Scott!
And yes you’ve done a great job with these pages, the dialogue is very natural yet leaves no doubt as to what’s going on portal wise for those who were confused. ^_^
Though you’d think with the popularity of Portal it’d be common knowledge by now you need two! 😛
I guess not everyone thinks with Portals.
Ahem *promises self to make no more Portal references*
Fresh from TWC: we hold. We hold!
#4: 6,044
#5: 5,053 <= us
#6: 4,862
Half a month through, nothing is certain yet. We still may vote our way back into the top 3 where Dreamland Chronicles belong. Vote, fellow Readers! Vote hard and make it count!
Want some cake? 😛
No lie?
If portals need magic on both sides, how does Nivienne’s magic pool work?
Nivienne has the power to disregard other people’s plot constrictions XD
Ahhh, no! Now you’ve said that it’s doing it to me too!
Niviene’s pool is more like a camera; it just looks through to our world. To date, only she and Merlin have been the only people to pass through it, and that required a substantial amount of magical energy on their parts. So to get through Niviene’s portal, you need a lot of magic. But for the Ramses’ portals, the magic is built into them so anyone could pass through.
But… we readers have already seen Nightmarians on present-day Earth. Are they the only ones who can — too few for a full-scale invasion? Or is their presence ghostlike, able to witness but not affect?
Excellent explanation!
Yay, Alex isn’t clueless! Good job, lad! 🙂
LOL!
I love these pages. ^_^
That settles it, Scott. When you make the Dreamland Chronicles movie, you have to get Christopher Judge to voice the Pharaoh. 😀
I don’t like to nit-pick, but scattering bold text all over the place actually breaks the flow of the narrative by drawing your attention away from the surround words.
Thanks for the explanation pages, I needed them.
Me too! Thanks!
Not to mention the culture shock of entering the modern world…
And Excalibur – which is a magical artifact itself apparently. Now if they can get Nivenne to start searching earth for Abaddon’s portal there, assuming it’s near a convenient body of water…
Speaking of which, there’s an old Emerson, Lake, and Palmer tune called Abaddon’s Bolero.
No, Scott was pretty clear that one was destroyed. It’s the second gate buried under the ice in Antarctica they need to watch out for. 😉
Indeed! :p
I think that Alex has improved alot already.
Before, he probably would have said something like:
“Huh? Did you say something? Sorry I was distracted by how hot Nastajia looks”
*Facepalm*
