He’s right, you know.
Thank you for liking my choose your own bonus book(s) idea. Made me smile. One other suggestion that someone made that I would like to second is eBooks for TDC as a bonus. My nieces and nephews have access to ipads and being able to read the story there would be a great bonus.
interesting, Daniel still thinks of it as Alex’s adventures. Even though he’s been handed the “you’re the true king” hot potato.
I just realized something. Where’s Excalibur? Did that scatter-brained Dan lose it ALREADY!?!?!?!
It’s leaning against the porch column.
Well, that where Scott says it is.
Now,how would their mom react to seeing such a sword? Would she contact a museum or the British authorities?
Does anyone realize this isn’t Dan and Alex’s house?
It’s Nicole’s.
for some reason i had assumed that. have we seen the extrerior of Dan and Alex’s house?
that bit of dialog doesn’t feel right. maybe if he said something like “we’re now officially a part of the adventures in Dreamland”
or heck, “we’re now officially a part of the Dreamland Chronicles” (though that also feels cliched)
Sure Scott, of course we all did. We were just wondering if you would point it out to the few that just joined your story in progress. 🙂

Heh…I would’ve thought it was official when Dan created the battle plan that led to the defeat of Nicodemus, thwarted the denizens of the Nightmare realm, and brought freedom to Dreamland! But that’s just me. I guess for Dan, actually having met the beings from Dreamland (even the medicine bag communication wasn’t enough) was what he really needed.
like what Rich sad 😉
He probably feels that way since he still hasn’t ever been to Dreamland. He gets to make a cameo appearance (after a fashion), but the adventures don’t feel like his own just yet.
Just my theory… 🙂
I figured as much. 🙂 Maybe I assumed it because it seemed like it would be proper for Dan to walk Nicole home instead of expecting her to get herself there. 🙂
As much as he believed in his brother, this was still his first real contact with the land he’d always heard about. Coming up with a plan that would be implemented by Alex while he’s sleeping…well…that probably didn’t feel real in the way that this did. It was still just a story (of how the battle went and how Nic was defeated, etc) until he could see and touch someone from Dreamland. Even faith can only go so far in comparison to actual experience unfortunately. 🙂
You do have a point about the communications back and forth between Dreamland and the real world via the bag though…
True, true.
Seeing, or in Dan’s case touching, is believing.
That’s my thought too: having never been there in a dream, he still feels like he’s just “standing on the shore” as it were, both literally and figuratively. It’s still Alex who is, so far, the main character from this world, and so it’s his adventures.
Had a long lost friend visit me today. So my page is still rendering.
I’ll post in the morning. Promise.
Friendly visits are always good. No worries, we can wait. 🙂
Take all the time you want. Long lost friends are awesome. ( I have many long lost friends, only their still lost. ) Seriously, go hang out with your friend. This is such a cute scene that I could just re-read it for a week. Dan’s my favorite character. 😀
I think it’s telling that Daniel said that they’re now quite, “part of my brother’s adventures”. To me, that implies that Daniel is saying they (he and Nicole) will be joining Alex’s adventures, not REPLACING Alex.
To me, that Lady of the Lake came across as… pushy and haughty. She said that Alex doesn’t have the right to be King. And she seemed to imply it would be best if Alex left Dreamland for good. (Never mind the fact that Alex helped Nastajia find the Lady in the first place, that he helped the Lady contact Daniel, or that he defeated Nicodemus and effectively saved Dreamland.)
(Really, Alex is Arthur’s descendant just like Daniel. They’re twins, aren’t they? Daniel’s older by, what, a minute or two?)
Hopefully, Daniel will figure out a way to release Merlin. Perhaps with Merlin’s help, they’ll be able to recover that amulet thingie King Arthur was trying to complete. That’d enable both Daniel and Alex (and Nicole) to be in Dreamland. Or maybe Seraphopolis holds the key?
Actually, they aren’t the descendents of Arthur. Kingship doesn’t appear to be passed along on a family line. Kingship appears to be bestowed upon a person due to their character or some other trait that would make them a beneficial choice for Dreamland.
I do now that you mention it.
Besides, Nicole agrees totally: lost and found-again friends are awesome.
The downside is that, if Dan does start coming as the true King of Dreamland, then Alex’s access will be more limited: only one adult human can come at a time. Alex would be reduced to what Dan has now: seeing through the lake, sending messages via diplomatic pouch, and suchlike.
