“How about not cutting your wings and legs and throwing you in your prison for all eternity to rot? Would that seem fair?”
IT’S A TRAP!
sooo obvious where he bolded whereabouts. Their dead and hes willing to show her their resting place.
I mean what use did he have in them living for all this time specially in the off case they managed to escape from his clutches… you know just like Alex did.
He knows he has nothing to offer this is bluff, one that he will loose badly .
just skin this lizard Alex he knows he lost Astoria and he just bluffing his way thru hoping to stay alive and try to salvage a upper hand
and i just notice something… in both pages he moving to the exit he lying and probably saying ignore my movement so i can fly/run out this room just little longer
If they’re dead, their whereabouts don’t mean a whole lot, and if they’re alive, then they’ll eventually find their own way back anyway. And I doubt Nicodemus has the power to hold them prisoner, one would assume the king of elves would have some sort of power unto himself.
And, even if Nic gets away, where’s he going to go? I assume the elven archers are still within firing range, and he’s a pretty big target.
i doubt it, its a childs/teen comic. i doubt they would have died. I somehow feel they have something more to add to the story.
Search for missing living beings is a regular shaman’s work. Don’t think it’d take Orion too long to locate two Elves he’s probably met in person. And even if he hasn’t, he’s got their daughter right there, which is more or less the same. So…
Nastajia: You want the sword? Between which pair of ribs exactly?
I sense he realizes he’s LOSING the battle… he’s asking for a CEASE fire, in exchange for their WHEREABOUTS… someone who is in a WINNING position, doesn’t make such a statement!
Nope. Her parents, dead or alive, he’s trying to fake a position of power, but his words betray him. He could try to blowtorch everyone in the room, but maybe he’s afraid of melting all the gold trinkets he so loves (dragons are suckers for “teh shiny”), into a massive golden blob… and that would just break his [stone cold] heart! 😀
Time to find out if Elves are natural born suckers.
Don’t do it, Nastajia! I don’t care about your parents and they probably will make the plot go stupid.
I will bet you 20 to 10 that if Nastajia accepts/had accepted the deal, Nicodemus would have revealed their (final) whereabouts: his stomach.
Of course, I could be completely wrong…
Okay, praying hard that Nastajia doesn’t do anything stupid, like calling off the armies . . .
I got another proposal for Nic…
Say, let’s slowly cut your toes, one by one until You decide to leave the premise.
Nic’s “offer”seems more out of desperation. He knows he has lost. His only hope is bluffing Nasti into doing something stupid.
In the end, Alex and his troupe du cirque would be totally capable of finding Nasti’s parents on their own.
I like the way this man thinks
Alright, but PLEASE fix panel four’s Nastajia and Nicodemus positioning, there’s something VERY wrong with the way it’s now.
Cannot say more, but anyone over 13 can tell you the problem.
LOL! 😀
down with nicodemus!!!
I think Alex should make a counter offer. He tells them what they want to know, and in exchange they don’t turn Nickiboy into dragon ala skewer.
Here, let me think for a sec….
pfft, no.
This is pretty much what I expected Nic’s next move to be. Of course, there’s absolutely no way to trust anything he tells them. His entire reign has been based on lies.
Nic’s getting greedy again…
Way to turn the tables, Nick.
Don’t be an idiot, Nastajia. He just SHOWED you where they are. He’s a DRAGON, after all. Elves are mighty tasty eatin’. And finding where your DEAD parents are — because you can’t actually believe he kept them alive — isn’t worth giving up the revolution.
I’d say “Counteroffer. We let you live if you tell us everything. Otherwise, the first thing we do is cut off your wings. The second, we have Bognok shove you off the highest tower.”
I don’t think Nastajia would give Nic what he wants. It will kill her not to, but she’s got courage and hutzpah…Alex on the other hand…he might be willing to give up the sword to help his lady-friend.
I’ve got two words for you Nastajia… Nightmare. Realm.
*IF* they are alive, my guess would be that they’re held in the nightmare realm.. and would probably require rescue if they are.
This is a bold move by ol’ Nic, and indeed, shows just how villainous he is. He’s a viper with wings and legs, and I’m thinking Alex needs to remove those appendages and reveal the true form of the snake… IMHO
Shoot first, negotiate later.
I’m not sure letting Nic live is such a good idea… Not to be heartless, but… perhaps there’s a REASON dragons are extinct now?
Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.
I think you’re right. Wake up, guys, he’s using distraction. Bognok, cut him off!
that dose it that over grown lizards got to die !
20 to 10? That’s the same as 2 to1. Math fail?
Nice delay/negotiating tactic Nic. I don’t think he is trying to make his way to the opening. I think he is just moving around for effect. Although I’m sure he, like most folks, would rather not find himself trapped in a corner no matter who the opponents were. I’m sure he is putting doubts and confusion in their minds, which is a good thing considering his position.
Scott, impressive shadow details on the wall behind ol’ Nic!
LOL!!
I half-expected Nastajia to fly off the handle since she’s been at this search since the first chapter we met her. Now I’m worried either or Alex will do something rash and stupid soon enough.
Man, Nicodemus keeps trying to make the same deal. When they turn this deal down, I wonder what he will offer next. Perhaps he shall pull out some marshmallows, roast them perfectly, and offer them freshly made s’mores, for the low, low price of a ceasefire and the Sword of Kings.
I agree… Nastajia knows in her heart that her that making such a deal would be much more devastating to her parents that their own safety!
Hahahaha! Didn’t even notice until you said something.
Throw in a box of Krispy Kremes and you got yourself a deal!
Never take the first offer!
First figure out what it means they want, and how strong (weak) their position is.
Then make a suitable counteroffer.
Wait…does Nastajia really have the authority to give Nic the Sword of Kings? Seems to me that Alex would have to willingly abdicate for the sword to really be Nic’s to posess…
Mmm, s’mores. =) nom nom nom
That doesnt excempt character death from the equation. Specialy if its used as a splot device for character development or to learn a lesson later on. (like her taking on her parent responsibiltiies or accepting death of loved ones or whatever)
IT is a pretty good bet they are alive somewhere. I think if they were dead, Nas’ by now would have been able to confirm that. On the other hand if you take one part Brigadoon and 2 parts fey misdirection and a few 100 years to lay the ground work, you could make it darn near impossible to find some one caught in the trap and for the trapped person to even realize they have been caught.
with a Dragon’s cunning and the power of the Nightmare realm to pull it off, this would be a simple thing to do. Also don’t forget that ole’ Nic knew he had enemies that would be waiting for the next King to come looking for the sword.
Regardless the bolded wheraabouts means Nic isnt gonna give them much if anything for what he wants. He might tell them “ther in the nightmair realm being held prisoner” which frankly if you know its nature being held capative there subject to those creatures might have been a fate far worse than death. Like being a prisoner being tortured for a few decades by sadistic wardens 😛
But like said previously i think Death might be the more acceptable outcome rather than them being imprsioned in the Nightmaire realm or their more less like the “scarcy dark realm” instead of true nightmares. When i saw Jarassic Park when i was early teams i imagined dinosars invading my house and the acid splitter splitting in my face at the end.
regardless besides buying himself some time and more reason to chase after him I think Nic’s only doing that to get closer to the window to flee than a actual deal. So i doubt well find out the fate of her parents anytime soon.
My sentiments exactly.
Nastajia: “Tell you what Nic, tell me what you did with my parents, and Alex will only skin you alive while I turn you into a scaly pincushion.” I hope she ways something like that. Don’t give in! He’ll take more than he will give.
Where is Admiral Ackbar when you need him
In many an available soundbyte. I believe Youtube even has a few remixes of the required phrase.
Nic’s no dummy 1st rule of Negotiation: always ask for more than what you really want.
now nic think hes got another ace up his sleeve, but if nast was really smart, she would see though his bluff.
i don’t know if i found the guy i think killed my family member’s s/hed have to convince me there alive before id let them live any longer. other wise id assume they are dead and the one who did it not far behind them.
Sure thing Nic, here’s the sword *alex’s face shield drops*.
Of course I’m assuming the armor has the face shield cause cutting open a dragon usually involves a lot of fire escaping from the wound. (or so they say in stories and movies) ;p
Huge red dragon… Vanished people… Not hard to put THAT one together! Poor old Nastajia… Parents as dragon food…
“… yeah, OR we could, you know, secure the kingdom and its people, place you under arrest, and proceed to beat the everloving snot outta you until you decide to cooperate.
But, I mean, your idea is good too.”
Damn and I don’t have the most efficient squad formation after exiting the Normandy…
ah..wrong saga
Nicodemus: “If you would like to know their whereabouts, princess, you must first douse yourself with ketchup. Then I will send you to them.”
“An arrangement? May we consider it one of the terms of your surrender?”
He got caught in a trap on the way here.
Interesting if they go into negotiations. I wonder if they will accept Nic back in his old adviser role in exchange for information, even if they don’t then use his advice.
Nat: OR, Plan B: I get to enjoy beating you senseless until you tell me where they are.
