Page 1226…
Thank you for kind words and well wishes for our 5 year anniversary.
It’s so nice to spend this event with you all!
As always…we appreciate all of your support over the years.
From buying our books, to visiting us at conventions, to even unblocking the ads.
I can’t thank you enough for helping me continue to do what I love.
Thank you
Scott
I think that is the ultimate in “oh shi-, I owe my life to something smaller than my hand” face in first panel…perfect match to the “oh shi-, I’m too young and royal to die” face from the previous page. x3 Not poking fun at everyone’s fav, Nastajia though… <3 Nastajia.
I DO think she recovered from otherwise certain death rather quickly. Then again, it's a battle in a comic…not exactly a major or funny issue to cover. x3
In closing, I leave you all with this note….FIRST!! 😀
She IS ready to lay down her life. Just the thought of getting dead by an arrow is… not really that appealing.
Go Kiwi!
And Kudos to “HeroForge,” who called it on the previous page …
😉
happy 5th year anniversary!!!!
may there be much more years!!!(something like that… i’m really ad at english…:s)
nnnnggaaah! You had me worried x_x!. Yaaay for Faries :D!
That arrow should have got closer. Magic or not, if it got that close before Nastajia noticed it, it would have got even closer before Kiwi got her magic on it.
Yep, that seemed like the best spot for our resident fairy to make an appearance. (That, and I know way too many tropes to have not seen that coming.)
We don’t know how much time passed between panels.
Besides, if it was much closer, then Kiwi’s spot between it and Nas would’ve made the shot too crowded. Sometimes physics have to take a back seat to artistic merit and presentation.
Haven’t you read superhero comics? Those guys could have a conversation the length of a Presidential debate in the time it takes to fall off a bridge.
Oh heeeey. Kiwi’s still in the comic, huh? Doesn’t feel like we’ve been seeing her recently.
Fhew! Glad she’s ok. Fairies pwn, ESPECIALLY Kiwi.
I do agree that there doesn’t seem to be enough time even for a fairy to get between Staj and the arrow from off-screen. Personally I think the arrow should be a bit further away on the previous page. If the point were just half as far from the page’s edge as it is now, it would be just as menacing and a lot more believable (and a more logical transition to today’s page). Talking is a free action, moving isn’t! 😉
And this is why you don’t use arrows. Shot and shell is better. Ah, cannon and rifle against prancy elves, bug like fairies and mutant centaurs.
One can dream, right?
I’m a bit surprised that Nic doesn’t have anything heavy on the walls or towers. I mean, the “good guys” are pretty exposed on the field. Perfect for something heavy to do some mopping up.
Go Team Nic!
There are a couple ways to explain this that are both plausible. The first one is that Kiwi might not have been off panel before, she could just have been hidden from view by Nastajia, and was actually by the back right of Nastajia’s head. But the main thing is that I Kiwi might not have had to be there to start using her magic. She could have been slowing it down, and just flew in front in order to finish stopping it. When you combine the idea of her slowing it down first, and how far back Nastajia’s head is compared to yesterday (when she was actually leaning forward slightly), and you can see that the arrow would have moved some.
As for moving not being a free action, that is true, but if Kiwi was just performing a readied action, then she could still do this at that speed.
Marvelous TK,
looking at your avatar and reading your post I hear the voice of Gary Shandling! (no dis-respect intended)
yea Kiwi!!
Reminds me of a line from Serenity:
The Operative: Are you willing to die for your beliefs?
Mal: I am.
(Both draw weapons, but Mal fires first. The Operative takes cover.)
Mal: ‘Course, that ain’t exactly plan A.
Where is our Matrix scene Scott? you said there would be one yesterday!
GITTER DONE KIWI !!! XD
I…um…
it’s alright, it was great without it too
He was throwing us a red herring, Morialkar. 🙂
I’m surprised Nastajia didn’t think of putting the fairies in the front as cover before now…
Heat of the battle, and stuff, I guess…
Nice action and nice suspense, Scott. Looking forward to reading more.
Do you know what your sin is?
What, stopping a spear in flight isn’t Matrix-like enough for you? Seems to me Neo learned that skill first.–but I could be wrong.
If you think realistically, that arrow was probably too close to pull off a Matrix move anyway. If it was still ten feet away, it would probably be doable with lightning reflexes, but probably not when it is only one foot away.
Kiwi suddenly stepping in is more believable.
I don’t mind either way, but this way seems better given the setup frame yesterday.
Meh fairies…. Why not protect themselves with dreams since it is dreamland.
it would have been, if it was nastajia who would have stop the arrows. well, i know distance and all, but i was really hopping to see that today lol
Put some feedback on last page’s comments. I hope somebody (Scott especially) reads them. Ugh, a forum is MUCH better for this!
yeah, I guessed right kiwi would come in to save her.
“Oh, I dunno, I’m a fan of all seven!” *headbutt* “But right now I’d have to go with wrath.”
Nastajia: “Oh come on, that was going to be a really cool arrow time dodge!”
Years later Kiwi is going to be bragging about how she led the charge on the castle and everyone is going to be like riiiiiiiiight >.>;;
Huzzah! Here comes the cavalry!
Hey all!
Renders are going a bit slow. I’ll have the page up in the morning.
I know it’s only a few hours between midnight and 8am. ANd I know I shouldn’t even have to mention it.
But still…I want you all to know.
There’s a LOT of rain drops going on. And a lot of characters in these scenes.
Thanks for your patience.
Scott
Heart this thread of comments…
Just wanted to say that I LOVE the way Nastajia’s face is lit by Kiwi’s fairy-ness in the first panel. It’s absolutely gorgeous. 🙂
Yay, Silverwolf’s back!
For anyone who doesn’t monitor the RSS feeds for the comments on the last couple hundred pages (ahem), I recommend going back a ways and seeing Silverwolf’s snarky and often quite humorous comments. (He’s been catching up for the past couple of days, dropping comments as he goes … )
This goes double for you new folks who aren’t yet familiar with Silverwolf’s unique (well, sometimes) brand of humor!
😉
Yeah, got to agree *like*
Nice that you mention it…
How _DO_ one go about to smoothly “going back a ways” between comment pages?
I only know of:
1. Scroll current page up – find the “Previous” button of the comic and click it. Wait.
2. Scroll down on the page – find the “Comment” link and click it. Wait.
3. Press Ctrl+F to see if “Silverw” made any comments to this page (or, read through all the “I couldn’t restrain myself, even though I didn’t have anything in particular to contribute with” comments to find it manually… 😉 )
4. Repeat steps 1-3 some 100 times…
Well, THAT was close.
Really like the look of the first panel. The lighting and the rain on the elf princess’s face and whatnot.
wow Dream Lands is really 5 years old
Cool well happy 5th then Scott
happy 5th!!!
And it’s a good thing too!
I heart too. This is great.
Page is almost done.
SOOOO MUUUUCHHH RAIIIIINNNNN!!!!
Hmm … hadn’t really thought about that.
Well, for getting to any particular page, there is a really nifty Archive Button at the top of the page. (Helpful hint: if you click on the TITLE of a chapter it will take you to the first page of the chapter; but if you click on the PICTURE it will take you to another archive page with thumbnails of the pages in that chapter, so you can pick a specific page to visit.)
Once you do that and find the page you’re looking for, your idea of searching for “Silverwolf” on that page will probably do the trick.
Totally your own fault, you know.
You could have just left the rain out, and made it easier on yourself. But NOOoo, you had to be all “artistic integrity” and “sticking to the script”. Glutton for punishment, that’s what you are!
(You know we luv ya, Scott!)
😉
I actually meant to comment on this and forgot. You’re certainly right; the lighting on Staj’s face is beautiful! and as close to perfectly rendered as I’ve ever seen …
Kiwi to the rescue! (and at least it’s not snow..?)
Comments like this are the reason we need “like” buttons here…
Nastajia certainly is demonstrating the ‘if someone tries to kill you, you kill them right back’ lesson from Mal at the moment.
Although it’s not happening here, I always make the point to my players that while talking is free, conversing is not and they have one sentence of speech per round.
