Agreeing with Lax, I think she’s in heat…and call me random, I have this funny feeling Felicity is not herself today 😛
And now we have it: all three have displayed a lack of judgement in front of the troops:
Alex should not have been so prideful as to argue over the fact that Nastajia knew him well enough to know he would probably not remember the way to get to them (setting himself up to be embarrassed in front of everyone)
Nastajia should not have enquired of Felicity in public (leading to embarrassing the king before everyone)
Felicity is acting all too familiar with the king
True, they know Alex’ weaknesses, and everyone knows that nobody’s perfect anyway… but they should still seek to instill confidence in their new king. A certain level of propriety and decorum needs to be in place, so as to inspire respect from the troops. It’s nice to know there’s a new king, and all, but they need to know they can rally behind him without fear of him messing *everything* up. Sure, he can make mistakes – we all do – but there needs to be an aura of respectability and such about him.
This particular scene is *definitely* not conducive to that. (Maybe it’s been too long since Dreamland has had a real king, and they forgot how to behave themselves…)

Still enjoying this and looking forward to the battle. Just had to point out though – on cover three, Felicity’s right upper canine is drawn as the one behind the tooth it should be. Pedantic, I know, but I can’t not see the lop-sidedness now I’ve noticed it… 😉

From the positions they were standing in a previous panel, Felicity would have had to twist and reach to smack him with her left hand. The right hand would have been more natural to use.
Looks more like she caught him as she was stepping across behind in Alex. In that case this would be the correct hand. And if I was going to smack the royal backside, I would put the royal front 1side between me and the elf with a bow every time.
I love their faces at the end. I also wonder how many of the troops are snickering at it, too.
Well, the color matches yesterday’s so I think it’s the lighting that makes the color lighter.
And I’ll say it again…Felicity, you saucy wench! 😀

I’ve been thinking they look whited out recently. The pupils aren’t black like they should be and the green is much lighter then before.
Well, that’s why even Alex himself thought that Daniel would have been a better king. I mean, no matter what he’s told Alex is Alex. He’s easy going, clumsy, and gullible. You might say it’s a good contradiction that not all kings have to be perfect, but demonstration of pure human nature
Maybe Felicity’s trying to get them closer…through jealousy or something. I think she’s crazy enough to do that. 😛
Man, that third sketched cover looks HARDCORE. Like Felicity is going to MURDERIZE somebody.
I’m sure this has been stated SOMEWHERE, but as it only now occurred to me, I will go ahead and state it. The Alex/Dan relationship has much the same style/feel as the Arthur/Merlin relationship. the somewhat clueless forced-to-be-a-ruler who nonetheless wants to do his best (early canonical Arthur) and the sage adviser.
Guys, you should know by now that that is her new “look”. Scott even said in one of the blog posts below the comic that he was going for a more “Wonderwoman” look, I believe (correct me if I’m wrong here).
I personally think it looks very cool, gives her a quality she didn’t have before.
Maybe she being a pain in the royal butt. 😛

i agree with you. It seems like she had to go too out of her way and leaped forward to give him that slap. I’m not sure if using the right hand would be enough to correct for the leaping forward feel.
As for Evan’s idea that Felicity was crossing behind Alex, the way everyone’s standing and looking at each other in the last panel seems to refute it..
Maybe in the 2nd last panel, Felicity should have a more casual stance, instead of the “bent down for pounce” stance? Then in last panel, she can be 1/2 turned away, so it looks like she has crossed behind Alex to walk away, but turned back to see their reaction?
Or maybe she could have done the slap with her right hand instead while walking pass Alex…
Or maybe she could have done the slap as she was saying the line “Where’s the fun in that, cutey pie?”, sorta like a pat on the shoulder or back… ‘cept she did it on his buttocks.
Depending on where Scott wants his characters in the next page…
I don’t know, I think in general, I just thought it looked like she went really out of her way to slap his bum bum then stopped to wait for the response… Felt as a cat-girl she could have done the whole thing in a more graceful/smoother way…. =P

ROFLMAO! You’re right! I didn’t notice it before! When you mentioned it I tried looking at it as though the camera was just tilted for that scene, and it almost works except for Nastaja and that one centaur on the far end spoiling the effect. They are both clearly standing up straight, making the leaning effect of all the others all the more ridiculous! They look like a string of dominoes starting to fall over! XD

New look or not, I’m really not digging her new eyes. Whether they’re supposed to be glowing or really are that lacking in pigment (they look a -frigid- ice blue), or both, it’s giving off a really creepy, scary, cold, soulless effect. Perhaps more of a richer blue so they don’t look so washed out? Though, honestly, I did love her old green eyes.
