Page 1088…
Hi all…
Thanks for the well wishes. Got checked out by the doc.
Seems I’ll be OK. No heart problems…but just stress.
And oodles of it.
🙁
None of it Dreamland related. Just finances and life.
But thank you all for the kind wishes.
Here’s some more books sponsored by Wowio.
Download them for free. Each one you download…Logic Wireless pays us $.25!
And finally…don’t forget to vote!
Nyoh~
Ah, Merlin. Reminds me of the old folk tales I’ve read about him.
What’s with the medieval noses? Arthur’s seems to be made of Lego and Merlin’s has fallen off? I bet it’s because they stick there noses in Nic’s bussiness 🙂
Very nice textures in the walls and woodwork tho.
ooh now I’m intrigued
What does Arthur mean by “for now”?
Our Plans? Uh-oh. Drat those meddlesome humans.
Sorry about the stress, lots of that going around these days.
Looking back through when Arthur was introduced, I think that something isn’t quite right about his face & crown, compared to other characters. He reminds me of a plastic toy with a paper hat. Hmm… I’m not really sure why.
Is his face a bit flatter than others? Maybe accentuated cheekbones, a narrower bridge of his nose, flared nostrils, a heavier brow? Maybe a few wrinkles might help?
Or maybe…
I know he’s supposed to be deep in though and a bit down about Camelot and all, but to me he looks half asleep. I feel like telling him to open your eyes! Be animated! Like I’m directing a high school play or something. Not that I’ve ever done that.
Or, maybe it’s just me.
OK folks, Dreamland is in 13th place! Terrible! It takes 2 mouse clicks to vote and a 3rd if you want to see where we are in the standings.
With all the readers of Dreamland, if everyone votes just once a month, we will be the top ranked.
So get to clicking!
Scott, stop stressing! Things will sort themselves out and you have a lot of folks that care about you behind you.
Looking more… 3rd panel of page 1080 is good. See how the light narrows his nose, and accentuates his left cheekbone and brow? Also, he’s looking alert. Although I’d like to see more of Alex’s wide-eyed wonder in that alertness.
Compare with 2nd panel page 1083, where he looks… dull.
I like his range of expressions on page 1081. Although (just thought of this), maybe his moustache and beard are disaccentuating the appearance of his facial expressions… maybe they need a little exaggeration to compensate?
Anyway, enough rambling. Love your work.
When I clicked to dl the books, each said that it costs $0.50 to dl.
Just a heads-up.
Love the comic btw. I hated the ‘game’ on XBox Indie but thanks to that, you’ve gained me as a reader. I’m curious as to whether it was meant to be a marketing move or if it was really meant to sell.
You have to register for the books to say they are free. Also, there is still a five books per person limitation.
Hey Behrooz!
My buddy Rob wanted to give it a go (the Xbox game) and it was a nice experiment.
I’m so glad it brought you by. Thanks for letting me know. I know Rob will be please to know I gained a reader from his Xbox game.
As Blahmoomoo (I love these names) mentioned…
You just need to register and it’ll give you the option for free books.
Thanks again…and welcome.
Scott
Thanks Pete…
I’ll see what I can do. Thanks for all the crits.
Stress is serious business, Scott! I hope you feel better soon.
I got the “original” that I bought 🙂 It’s gorgeous! I have to leave it packaged for right now, but I plan on getting it matted and framed when I move. I’ll take a pic of it in our office once my boyfriend and I get settled next autumn.
(p.s. original is in quotes because the original is electronic so it still feels like a print. EXCELLENT choice of paper/inks etc. though. Very high quality stuff. Plus–it’s signed and marked as 1/1. It’s the details that make this so great.)
Lol!
Glad to hear the “no heart problems” news! Stress sucks, but we all have to live with that.
I’ve been biting my tongue (so to speak) a lot on the last few pages. Oh, not because of anything you’re doing, Scott; it’s because of all the people criticizing – noses, faces, walls, whatever; it seems like a lot of people are complaining lately. And despite my knee-jerk reaction, I haven’t said anything; I know you like constructive criticism just as much as, if not more than, praise. But it hasn’t been easy; the urge to jump (down their throats) to your defense seems to get stronger each time.
So I’m taking this compromise, mentioning it here as a venting measure to keep my own blood pressure down, and to let them (and you) know that their opinion is not necessarily shared. Keep up the good work, Scott!
(And don’t forget to VOTE, everyone!)
*huggles Scott* I know how you feel. I’ve been having trouble sleeping the past few nights because of stress over classes.
Poor Arthur. I think that maybe if he didn’t go through with his plans, maybe Nick wouldn’t have been pushed over the edge and human kings would be allowed to rule, with some quiet dragon snarling in the background. All in all, I love it. I’m not much of a King Arthur buff because many authors have painted him as “perfect” and the whole Gwen with Lancelot and whether or not it was “justified” or if she’s just a bad woman, but seeing Arthur play a part in the downfall of human kings in Dreamland, it’s awesome. It brings him down to the level of human.
Tek your hit my nail on the head too… I am not visionary enough talented enough with pens paper electronica etc to do a daily comic… I could do a monthly/bimonthly something but it would not be the quality of Dreamland by any sort. I love Dreamland and read it constantly and the comments as well (you can’t do one with out the other) yet I do limit it to when I read the panel the first time. So from me to you Scott… Thank you for all you do it is very much appreciated in my house!!!
So glad you got it (and liked it).
And yes. the quotes for “original” are necessary.
But you can be assured you’re the ONLY one who’ll ever have that print.
🙂
Can’t wait to see the pic.
Thanks guys.
Look…I’d be lying if I said crits don’t bother me.
Even constructive crits.
But if you all had not mentioned (adamantly) the date of Camelot…I would haven’t known how wrong it was. If you hadn’t told me how much you hated Nastajia early on…I wouldn’t have had her and Alex kiss earlier than planned.
And I’m sure there are dozens of other times you have all helped me to IMPROVE the story and art.
So despite my fragile artistic ego…I gladly take it all in. So that the end product benefits. Even if my ego doesn’t.
🙂
So thank you for not jumping down people’s throats.
Remember….they’re reading and commenting. That’s a GOOD thing.
Heck…of the 20k readers a day who come here…only…what…50 readers actually comment?
I’ll take crits from commenters rather than an empty comment section any day. Ha.
Thanks again.
Glad to here youre some what out the woods scott, i know how stress is, its sucks and worrying about day to day things when it boils down to the ever loving cash prices tags on things.
its rather hard to come by in this economy if you are out of work or own a business..
please at least to relax..
Pay me no mind. I doubt that any criticism from me is likely to bring much (any?) improvement anyway.
I see TekServer’s comment below that there’s been a rash of criticism recently – I confess I don’t often read the comments, so I haven’t noticed it. I was even oblivious to your health and stress issues. Sorry!
I appreciate your art, and I’m looking forward to the story progression.
Pete
I am Arthur, King of the Britons!
Who are the Britons?
Well, we all are! We’re all Britons!
*sigh*
Yeah, I get that.
(I just hope they’re voting, too. And maybe even buying stuff … )
😉
No worries.
They’re good crits, Pete.
You have a good eye for this.
Glad you’re okay, Scott! Take it easy, man!
Yeah. We are only 300 votes away from the #9 spot. We should at least be in the top 10 to have the banner on there. There’s no reason why we shouldn’t be with the amount of readers this comic has. Step it up, people!
Something about both these characters is less real looking that alex, and co at the university. The faces look/feel kinda wooden or legoish in some way. I can’t put better name to it, but it struck me enough to say something, before reading the comments. It just feels more fake,,,
Looking again it is more flat and less 3d or less depth to them.
