Page 1024…
So glad you guys are enjoying the “monologuing” of Nicodemus.
It’s just so fun to write. No wonder it’s such a common theme in these types of stories.
We had a snow day yesterday. So I didn’t get as much done as I’d hoped.
I’m afraid I’ll wake up this morning and see all sorts of mistakes in this page.
Oh well.
It’s going to be a bit until I have enough of a cushion to feel comfortable again.
But it IS nice to be back working on Dreamland once more.
Yesterday the Webcomic Overlook gave the MOST in depth review EVER!
Please check it out!
http://webcomicoverlook.com/2010/02/08/the-webcomic-overlook-107-the-dreamland-chronicles/
It’s both harsh and kind at the same time. Just as it SHOULD be.
Thank you to Larry Cruz for taking the time and hard work to put this together.
And please don’t forget…
I’m giving away free XBOX games all week if you sign up to the Facebook Fan Page and follow the question posted in there (you may have to scroll down a bit).
Have a wonderful day!
Scott
Heh… Alex is ready to go! ^.^
Orion, always the voice of reason… He’s a good mentor I think.
Come on, Alex, you must know that whenever the villian taunts you, he has the upper hand if you give into his ruse.
Would be cool though if Alex leapt into action and woke up before harm could come to him. … Please don’t let that be a Friday cliffhanger.
Yup… there’s a mistake right there! Ol’ Nick has no nose! Oh, wait…
I don’t know why, but I get the feeling that bad things may happen to the Mentor Centaur in this chapter.
Lurking in the darkness… The incredible well-lit darkness that lacks any cover. 😉
Nope, there is cover… some rocks if I recall.
He was really trying to provoke them, to show themselves. Let us see what is going to go down.
Does anyone else notice that it looks like Orion has a glow-in-the-dark mouth in the last panel? Weird lighting…
Mentor Centaur is now my official nickname for Orion! 😉
Don’t forget to VOTE, everyone! http://topwebcomics.com/vote/4274/default.aspx
I can’t emphasize this more here, but I want to say it again: I love, love, love the lighting of these last few pages. It’s both interesting and dynamic and joy to look at! A well done job indeed!
Yes, weird glowing in Orion’s mouth … maybe it’s something unimportant … maybe not …
Orion’s “Inner light” is showing 😀
And is it just me or does the last panel remind anyone else of a line from one of those Star Wars wannabe movies Episode I-III where Obi-Wan tells Anakin “Patience my very young padawan”?
Dreamland toothpaste…whitens your teeth so much they glow! Now available in Astoria!
Orion: “He’s bluffing, Alexander. He’s had nasal congestion since the last chapter ended.”
LOL XD
Happy kilopage!
NICODEMUS!! Keep rocking on Nicky!
Love the look in the last panel! You can just see the fire smoldering inside Alex …
GREAT REVIEW !!!!
I loved the fact that the review was just that … a review … not a “i like it” or “i hate it” and reasons to just support the OVERALL opinion of the book.
As for me, the “minuses” pointed out are things that I chalk up to the “style” of the book.
Wooow. Nick is still looking amazing…
I wonder if he polished his scales and horns before coming, just to look extra impressive? I know if I were a dictator usurper king, I’d make sure I looked my most terrifying and fabulous before meeting the intrepid heroes.
I don’t know if I’ve ever commented here before, but I’ve been reading since last summer. Every time I read dialogue by Nicodemus, I hear Tim Curry’s voice. Just a suggestion! ^_^
Available now in Astoria near you?
(Sorry, sometimes I can’t help myself … )
I’ve loved the start of the new chapter. Just a couple quick comments on the last frame:
1. The reflections on Alex’s hair look a little overstressed; is there anything you can do about that?
2. His brow and eyes look a little too subdued. If you could just put a couple creases on his forehead, that would be awesome.
We had a snow day yesterday, too. And the day before that. And the day before that. And the day before that. And today. And I’m sure I’m not going anywhere tomorrow, either. I don’t expect to be at work on Friday.
I’ve never been out of work for a week due to any type of weather… it’s kinda nice to sit at home and catch up on things, and play with the kids, but I can’t imagine the headaches I’m going to have at work after everyone being gone for a week.
Plus, the kids’ schools had already met their number of allowed closed-for-weather days, so they will already have an extra week added on at the end to make up for this week.
And we’re expecting more snow some time next week, too.
Villain taunt, one of the most effective ways to lure out and destroy young, headstrong heroes. Resist Alex! If he could smell you, wouldn’t he have already attacked? And can he even see you? Oh the suspense!
Now he’s taunting–but remember, I named it monologuing first–at least first…here…yesterday.
Some states allow the Governor to “forgive” some snow days if there are too many to make up…
“Star Wars wannabe movies Episode I-III,” surely you jest. Those never happened, they were but a collective hallucination brought on by swamp gas reflecting Venus.
well nicodemus isnt a fan of the pen is mightier than the sword line anyway. I wonder what human smells like to a dragon?
…Is it just me, or does Alex look pleased in the last panel?
Fee Fie Fo Fum, I smell the blood of a puny human XD
PLEASED?!
He looks like he is ready to skin him.
As for me… I know this is so PG-13 and such, but I reaaaaaaaaally dislike that dragon. A really good job making his character as repulsive as it can be. That part about King Salomon? Pure gold.
That must be why it all seemed so wrong 😀
Yeah. Congrats on the Milestone!
I smell something burning…
