Page 1023…
Hi all!
Wow…this page had a LOT of fire in it.
Took me all day.
And yesterday was the boys’ 7th birthday. Lots of sugar!
Yikes.
🙂
Thank you all for the birthday wishes, encouragement, and prayers for my dad.
You are all so wonderful.
I want to congratulate Doug Klein!
He’s our first winner of the XBOX game code for A Dreamland Chronicles Trivia Game!
Please head on over and become a member of our Facebook Fan Page.
I’m giving away some free Xbox codes.
Also…
I’m giving up some SECRETS about the Dreamland Movie.
So please do join in the discussions and have some fun.
Hope you enjoyed the page.
See you tomorrow.
Scott
am i actually first?! ahh!! EPIC NESS YEAH!!! :3 and i love fire. and nick starts his speech of the evening…nice
A facebook group! I hope you get lots of fans.
And the goodies from it are really interesting, too…
*becomes a fan this instant*
On the pages: I really like the lighting in these pages for once. It’s very interesting and the play of darkness and light on Nicodemus’ skin are magnificent! What would I give to have the previous page as a wallpaper! 🙂
Just a little thing: where is the scroll in the third panel? I can’t see it. Maybe I’m just blind…
Its great to see the unfolding of chapter 15 – glad to have you back (though the guest pages were fun, too).
I’m enjoying the quote from Proverbs (1:28 – had to look it up, though!). I wonder how Nicodemus got his hands/claws on a copy of the Bible?
– Fr. Maurer
Woo … ooh … WOW !
Nick is back, more evil than ever !
Now he makes practical jokes even on the bible … an evil genius indeed …
Wow. I saw a link to this webcomic on some other webcomic, and started reading for the heck of it. I ran through the whole archive in several hours, instead of studying for my 2 exams later today.
Great work, not regretting yet.
Nicodemus: “Rather poignant among such times as these, is it not?”
Alex: “Pfft. Quentin Tarantino still did it better.”
Taunting to make them reveal themselves? Knows where they are? We shall see… One thing is certain though… He talks a lot.
dude, check out the flames in the last panel! that was soooo prooo~
great job. At first I was upset with all the long words, thinking this is a kids story, they can’t read those, till I realized where the quote came from. great job.
That’s what dictionaries are for Kittin. After all teach how to research young and they will be able to find out anything. Calvin and Hobbs expanded my vocabulary so much when I was growing up. 🙂
Oh yeah and great page, Scott. Makes me wonder if King Solomon was also king of dreamland.
I’m guessing that is a scroll he is clutching in the last panel?
Glad to see Dreamland back! Thanks Scott!!!!
Great Page … can I get Flames like the last panel painted on my car?? That’d be awesome … or maybe on YOUR Challenger … that would be awesomer !
*speechless at awesomeness of page* 😀
Nice job with the fire.
great!
Overall, this scroll thing is annoying me. Why did they wait and wait and wait to read the scroll (which was so important to everything they’re doing)? Just so it could be destroyed first for plot purposes?
in a word, wow!!
Bugged the heck out of me too.
I really toiled with that one.
Why wait?
But here’s what I came up with.
1) Nicodemus was nowhere to be found. And possibly dead at the hands of the Dwarves.
2) Orion needed a goal for Alexander’s flight. No reading now. Not until you fly.
3) Hindsight being 20/20 yes….let’s do this now.
But not everyone thinks everything through in real life.
Despite me wanting to plug up any and all plotholes…I felt this grounded Orion a bit in that he miscalculated. Made a mistake.
I couldn’t find a better reason why NOT to go check it out earlier (easily Kiwi could have flown Alex and the others over).
So I’m hoping it’s viewed as a mistake on Orion’s part. Maybe a bit of arrogance on his part. Don’t know.
I will be SO happy when I never have to paint another flame.
Ha ha. SO tough
… and they’ve got him monologue-ing now. Sweet! 🙂
Wow, the fire on the last panel, it was amazing. Though it wasn’t quite like true fire, it was still just as great. It was a beautifuly done, and one of the best digitaly rendered fire I’ve seen. More people should know about this webcomic. Some of this work is just outstanding.
Nicky’s pissed. I hope he doesn’t find the tablet for The Guardians, since the fairy’s tablet is most likely destroyed, and who knows who will win the race to the rock giants and Nick has the amulet on him.
I do blame Orion entirely for this. Alex didn’t pick up on flying as fast as Orion planned, he should have relented his rules for the sake of the mission. They all should have counted on Nick surviving the dwarves and flying as fast as he could to Aethos. Have fun throwing it in his face, Alex.
I wondered what it would be to get me to join Facebook: not reletives, not friends, not even old 4-H buddies, but Dreamland. Go figure.
Oh, wretched dragon. Keep your blasphemies to yourself, for you have taken the scripture out of context! It is to be read thusly:
KJV Proverbs 1:27-29
27 When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.
28 Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:
29 For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the Lord:
oh ‘ahem’ I reeeeeeeeally got wrapped up in this page. Fantastic work on the flames, and great choice of dialogue, Scott! Really well done!
I was sitting here wondering how Nic would have know anything about King Solomon or what he said. This is the only thing that makes sense! Thanks for easing my mind xD
Yes he was.
We mentioned that back in the Kraken’s cave.
🙂
He and Nicodems were TIGHT!
Like THIS!
You know…?
I wonder if old Nic really knows the context of that verse he quoted. Likely not, neither understanding God nor men.
How did Nic get his claws on a Bible? He didn’t need to. All he needed was to get the book of Proverbs. And as Solomon was, I believe, listed on the Mer-tablet as having been a king of Dreamland, it’s possible that he wrote Proverbs in Dreamland as well as in our world.
*laughs*
Here’s the “Evil Villain Speech” as noted on the “Book of Evil” page 673467842…”All evil overlords, tyrants etc, etc, MUST make a long boring speech that takes up at least three pages and bored the reader to death….”
Solomon had mounds of wisdom, but he never acted too much on it
I think you are saying Nicodemus is monologuing? (As in The Incredibles…)
Orion miscalculated. But he doesn’t seem to fased about it… Makes me wonder if he said the truth about not knowing what the tablet says… Or if they have a legend that says when the tablet was created. We shall see.
Oh absolutely.
It’s monologue time!
What evil villain DOESN’T?
It’s part of the fun.
Holy epic quotation! That’s… Very dramatic. 😀
😛 And i just got home from my own surgery to return to post here again^^ (Oh, and if i say weird things in some of my posts, please pay it no mind. I am on pretty heavy painkillers right now. But i must say that these new pages are a great thing to return home to!^^
Brilliant! I loved the Proverb in the mouth of the dragon with all those flames shooting about. So terribly wrong, but so perfect!
Thanks RG! I was wondering if he took it out of context, most evil villains do :). Awesome job with the fire (and everything else)! I can barely wait for the next page!!!
^ this XD
I hope you’re feeling better.
Thank you very much! And i extend the same sentiments to your father. Heh, it is kinda fun having a celebrity wish me well
Welcome, new Fellow Dreamer! I’m running a bit late on this page (worked on site all day, then paid for it with requisite painkillers when I got home … still haven’t quite recovered … 🙁 ).
Anyway, as I said, welcome! And don’t forget to drop by Top Web Comics and VOTE for Dreamland Chronicles every day to show your appreciation of Scott’s incredible world!
http://topwebcomics.com/vote/4274/default.aspx
P.S. I hope you did go back and study for those exams …
😉
I think maybe that’s a piece of a hut …
😉
You’re a 4-H’er? Me too! Grew up in 4-H, and I’ve been a resource volunteer (freelance; no club of my own – couldn’t handle the time commitment for that) for about 20 years now …
If you happen to be a volunteer in the southern US, and attend the Southern Regional Leader Forum, look for the “Florida Boys” and you’ll find me (but if you already know me from that statement, please don’t post my name online … I’m kind of a hardcore digital paranoid … ).
Here is the page where they say it:
http://thedreamlandchronicles.com/2007/05/22/todays-dreamland-chronicles-407/
And they also mention David and Arthur 😀
Not to be overly biblical or such, but something that keeps popping up in my head is that “Old Nick” (at least used to be) is a nickname for Lucifer/Satan/The devil.
KJV Isaiah 27:1 “In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.”
Ha. I never really would have pinned Nicodemus a lover of World history…. well we all got to have some hobbies
Hey, thanks for the response 🙂 If Orion admits the mistake, that would make it okay in my eyes 🙂 (or at least if someone mutters under their breath about it 🙂 )
Oh, now that explains why I couldn’t remember studying… I didn’t :S. Failed both :P.
Those who don’t study History (or whatever your subject may have been) are doomed to repeat it …
😉
Humans can indeed be quite poetic at times. This beautifully written page proves that the creator of this webcomic is one of them. 🙂
I heard the word ‘whirlwind.’ XP
Anyway…awesome flames…almost looks as if there’s a being made out of them in the last panel…though that may just be coincidence…
And that is why Nicodemus is my favorite villain this side of Isengard.
wow – I only recently discovered this and have been spending all my lunchbreaks trying to read as many pages as possible. Just love the graphics, the storyline, everything 😀 And I am trying not to cheat too much by reading the current 2012 pages 😉
Or maybe it’s just the Book of Rorschach.
