I just had to add; I only found this today, but it’s been magnificent, and I’m eating through it. Usually I ignore rendered comics, but this one has something special — and after seeing how it’s all been designed and made part way through, no wonder! Great story, great art, and a really wonderful read; a shame it took me so long to find it, but I’m glad I did!

To be honest. This was my second version of this page.
And I’ve still got a list of things I’d like to change.
This chapter has been all about “letting go”.
Keeping up the daily updates for something so big this chapter has been quite challenging.
But I’d rather (and I’m sure you would too) have the daily pages and more of the story…than for me to tweak each page. Each frame. Until I got it just right.
That’s how cartoonists have done it for over a century. You stick to a deadline. And you let your work grow as you grow as an artist.
Coming up on 5 years (in about a week or so) of putting pages up daily online.
It’s nice to go back to the first chapter and see how much I’ve learned both in my art and in my writing.
Will reminisce about it more later, I’m sure.

By the way how did you make the rain any way?
did you have a rain drop modeled, then made it act in a particle system?
It is a magic bow–and one of the first enchantments I’d add would be waterproofing.
Shouldn’t everybody be more drenched? With that much rain, there should be more than a few “sweat drops”. Then again, being thoroughly soaked can look the same as being dry, only with better skin appearance, so instead of running water, shouldn’t there be a bit of shine to their appearance in addition to drips of water coming off?

It not cliche, it would only be cliche if it had to be done. They could have charged silently since they all knew of the plan (I’m assuming) but the speech fits well!

Oh, dunno if anyone already mentioned it, but Scott, nice that You reverted to Nasti’s original eyes. The glowy-bit was a nice idea, but it stood out waaaaay too much.(You could always add it again when they go dungeon-crawling or something..that would look nice with Felicity’s eyes…ooh…wait..weren’t Felicity and Alex already busy doing something like that? Would be very “Oblivionesque” if they entered the city through the sewers for whatever ingenious plan that lies behind them sneaking off…)

Another thought on the speech being cliché—if they are doing what Nicodemus expects so that he won’t realize that they have changed their plans to account for the wraith spies, then they need to do the expected and cliché, so that Nicodemus will be taken by surprise when the plan goes sideways.
