And with a familiar face… Chapter 19 comes to an end!
I haven’t counted… but I believe Nicodemus has been the end of at LEAST half a dozen chapters. Don’t you think?
I guess I just love him so much. I always include him in the ending shot of my chapters.
I’m so predictable.
Anyways. I hope you have all enjoyed this recent chapter.
The Nightmare Realm was fun to explore. Abaddon is a cool character. I’ve always been fascinated with the Hive Mind type.
We’ll learn more of “The Dreamer” (and no… as fun as that sounds… the Dreamer isn’t a Revolutionary War High School student named Bea!) in the next Chapter.
We’ll find out what REALLY happened to Nastajia.
And we’ll see how Daniel, Nicole, and Nastajia’s parents have planned to stop a world invasion.
I’ll have new pages for you in a couple of weeks. I need to finish the script and we have a few new models that need to be built.

I bet as much as Nic hates Alex and humans in general he will work with Alex to stop Abaddon’s take over.
OMG!! O_O Something tells me that it wouldn’t help Alex at this point to wake up just to get his sword back…Nic would be ready for him when he returned.
And way to burst my ridiculously impossible bubble Scott! 🙂 I was kind of intrigued by seeing Bea turn up in your story. 😛 (Yes, I know that a crossover like that is exclusively the stuff of fan fics and fan arts…but it still would be cool!)

Wow… Nick looks a little worse…. he must have broken his horn in the fall. And he looks just a tad more upset…
Why? Nic’s sole concern – well, after ‘repaying’ Alex and Nastajia – is Dreamland. What does it matter to him if Abaddon invades the Earth? Indeed, the killing and subjugation of humans would probably meet with his approval. And while Abaddon’s doing that, logically Nic will be able to resume his role as ruler of Dreamland… Once Alex and Dan are dead, of course…
I’m away for a few days and all this happens!!!! For a minute, on Tuesday’s Page, I was thinking that Nic WAS Abaddon and was playing both sides like chancellor Palpatine
Actually I think there are 2 chapters left. This is the “Final Battle” Chapter, with the epilogue / fallout Chapter after.

I believe, and I am sure I will be corrected if I am wrong, that without humans to dream, Dreamland (and the Nightmare Realm) would cease to exist.
Everything in the universe, even male believe ones, has to have at least two sides. Good vs Evil, Light vs Dark, Hot vs Cold, Jedi vs Sith, Republicans vs Democrats, and so on. You can’t have one without the other.
Here we have Dreamland vs Nightmare Realm. One thing we don’t know is what happens when a nightmare creature attacks a human in the human world? Can they actually kill a human in the human world? Heck, we don’t even know for sure if a human can be killed in Dreamland or the Nightmare Realm.
I suspect that they take away their ability to dream and force them to have only nightmares, which would make the Nightmare Realm grow in power and size. If that were to happen it would be at the expense of Dreamland. If the Nightmare Realm invaded the Human Realm full force and destroyed humanities ability to dream, then Dreamland would cease to exist.
What would Nic rule over then?
No, I think Nic needs to stop Abaddon as much as Alex does.
It sort of reminds me of “Rise of the Guardians”, which was a pretty good movie.

Just reread the chapter. Makes more sense in one sitting than as separate pages, just like others have said.
Anyhow, I think I got it. The Nastajia’s that died in front of Alex are illusions intended to cause Alex to despair, thus losing his advantage over Abaddon. Whether the real Nastajia is dead or alive is still an open question. Furthermore, I’m pretty sure the Dreamer is referring to Arthur. Seems to me that Abaddon wants to give the sword to Arthur so that he will reopen the portal to Earth, thus allowing Abaddon to invade Earth. Nicodemus, OTOH, does not wish to see this happen, as that means humans will be able to enter Dreamland permanently. So we have this interesting power play going on, that far exceeds what originally appeared to be your stereotypical hero-vs-big-bad-guy plot. Kudos to Scott for pulling it off so effectively!

I remember that a few chapters were being condensed for time purposes. I am excited to be reminded that we have 3 chapters instead of 1. I want to know the end but at the same time I do not want the story to be over. 🙂

Wake up, Alex! You know you always get the sword back then. Plus you can give Dan and Nastajia’s folks some intel to work with. Um, there will be some fallout though, for not rescuing their daughter yet. It’s a mixed bag, this hero work.

Reread the chapter, and while it’s as interesting/cute/etc as ever, juggling 4 parallel story threads seems a bit too much for me. Especially when any of them may almost have enough action/background/twists in it for a separate chapter.
This way each of them crawls forward, and none of them really flourishes (let alone resolves).
You really gotta lose this completely boring and useless lizard!!!

Yeah, he’ll have to go all “Peter Pan vs. Hook” on Nicodemus. Although, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Nastajia fight her way back to her man.

This is amazing.
The first half of this story? It was wonderful.
Now though? After Nicodemus was overthrown in Astoria, since then the story has been even more gripping, even more astonishing and emotional. I’m so glad I found this story again. Getting to revisit Dreamland again has been amazing. I can’t wait for the next chapter to start.
I hope you used permanent markers, and not a mere pencil, when you marked those words… 😛

No, Scott, that is not a way of pressing for updates, just a thought in passing.
Interesting theory, and very plausible. I recall when Alex first disappeared from the platform that there looked to be a vreature’s wingtip just beyond the railing. That’s too significant a detail to be there by accident. Unfortunately, if this is true then the nightmare realm is aware of Nastajia’s parents’ location. Ups the stakes a bit, don’tcha think?
I just LOVE how Nick always addresses Alex as “Human.”
I did once…I turned it into a basis for a story, and have now hit a rock wall with it. Just when I WANTED to have the nightmare continue the next night, it DIDN’T. Seems my own brain doesn’t listen to me….
