I’m not convinced that women know what a woman thinks half the time either.

However i do know some people that DO know what a woman thinks.

Man, these last few pages have been really good–I like how the plot is moving along…things are getting done! The 2nd to last panel made me laugh especially. I love Nicole’s and Dan’s expressions as they answer him. X3

Maybe Felicity isn’t only guilty about Nicole – after all, this was so long ago. She could also be guilty about betraying Alex and his friends, and possibly other Dreamlanders. Guilty about working for Nicodemus the whole time.
Hopefully, Nicole’s letter to her will help her somehow though.

@Sythiar: That’s true but knowing that her childhood friend is still out there and doesn’t want her to do this to herself HAS to have some effect… Of course there’s the possibility that the betrayal of the gang made her forget how he lost Nicole, and now that she’s reminded she will want to die even more… But hey! Don’t let my stupid pessimism mislead you! She can make it! If Frodo survived the journey to Mount Doom and back, then she can survive the journey to self forgiveness and back!
I like this whole sequence. Alex may be wrong about her exact reaction (my guess is that it’s more that the immediate betrayal — that she was, in fact, a spy in the group for Nicodemus — which BUILDS upon the old guilt that she’s never faced), but he’s taken a positive, active role and come up with a method for Nicole to contact Felicity, even though Nicole no longer goes to Dreamland. Good work, Alex.
I have nine sisters, okay – yes, nine with an ‘n’, an ‘i’, an ‘n’, and an ‘e’ – and I still have no clue how a woman thinks.
I still think Alex should try and find a way for the others to join him in Dreamland. Maybe falling asleep holding hands, or bringing back a Talisman for each of them to wear, like he has the sword.

I thiink Felicity’s whole problem is that she spent most of her life under Nick’s claw, and twice now Nick has gotten invovled with her good friends and inadvertantly chased away Nicole and if Alex didn’t insist to stand by her side, then Alex and crew would have abandoned her too. Considering the great emotion that Felicity had when Nick showed up in Hilmdel, I imagine that she also had fresh, vivid, and extremely painful memories of Nicole’s great friendship and how Nicole was torn away from her, and Felicty felt that she could never have friends of any kind because Nick would always come in and ruin things for her, so she figures why bother setting herself up to meet friends in the future and just end it all? (Bad idea, Felicity, BAD!
But Alex has been her friend and forgave her for everything for a long time now, and even Nastajia has seen the light, but if that’s not enough to snap her out of it, I think contact of any kind from Nicole will encourage her. Besides, I think all Dreamlanders know that one day they will have to let go of their human pal but I think that’s a gentle process of no longer coming every night but a few nights, and then poof! No more human pal, but to disapear so suddenly, like Nicole and Alex did, it leaves a scar, which messed up Felicity and Nastajia for a while.
I never thought I’d say this, but I miss Nick. Watch he’ll scare the hell out of me with his entrance, like his last appearance. Will he show by the end of Chapter 14, Scott?
We still don’t know what the Centaur wrote to Alex’s brother either. Perhaps it will contain steps for him to begin his journey to Dreamland himself.
In the meantime; I often don’t know what I’m thinking…let alone my wife. HA!! Alex’s admission was classic.

I’ve often wondered about Dan myself…I wonder if he’s not supposed to be either a) the true King of Dreamland (given that he and Alex ARE born of the same stock, being twins and all), or a sort of ADVISOR to the true King, given his extensive knowledge and desire to learn about the kingdom.
I hope Nicole doesn’t have a problem writing this note, time’s a wastin’.

This theme of men not understanding women, plus its reverse (that women cannot understand men) is one of the reoccurring themes of the characters in the mega-series “The Wheel of Time” by Robert Jordan. And all of them are convinced that the other characters have a better understanding of the opposite gender, or at least how to handle them well. Not to mention that other people are braver, more collected, more expert and so on.

We are governed by our hormones. Plus we like to care for other people, which pretty much goes directly against survival instinct. So we like to be protected and loved, but also respected. Seems alright. One thing you can say for us is that we haven’t started many wars.
