Great page. Nice to have the website up and running again. Well everyone knew this argument was going to happen at some point. I like the sort of moon light look that this page had.

Nastajia doesn’t want to lose the love of her life, and he hasn’t even worked out that once he stops visiting Dreamland they won’t be able to be together any more.
Not that Alex doesn’t have his good points. He is, after all, going into a place designed to be a literal hell for humans out of love for her, which proves his great courage and his devotion to her. But there’s no doubt Dan got the brains in their family.
I must admit, I think the best result for Dreamland is a joint kingship. Dan and Alex are about half the ideal king each, with Dan having the mental and empathic side and Alex the strength and courage.
Of course, that portal to Earth could solve an awful lot of problems, too…

The first thing I thought was Nastasia thinking, “If he abdicates I will have to settle for being the ruler of only the Elves, subservient to Dan’s girlfriend.” Okay, maybe everyone else is right, that Nastasia is fearful of loosing Alex, but I will always have this nagging thought in the back of my mind.

Holy shit. I don’t believe it. How can he not have seen that once he gives up the sword, he’s going to leave her again? I know Alex isn’t the brightest bulb in the box, but c’mon!
Nastajia is just causing trouble! There has to be some seriously bad consequences to stealing the throne from your brother. I admire Alex’s loyalty on this. He might have not through the romantic implications, but bros before hoes (just kidding). But seriously, he’s willing to give up his potential (though not entirely legitimate) claim to the throne to put Dan in his rightful place. I really admire the depth of that sacrifice….even if Alex isn’t actually thinking in such grandiose terms.
On the one hand I agree with everything you’ve said.
On the other hand, I don’t think that loyalty to his brother has anything to do with this. I think that he truly has no desire to shoulder the kind of responsibility that being king would entail. This is a guy who is in college…the time of life when everything is supposed to be fun and new. Taking on a kingship at that age would put a serious damper on the carefree life that I can imagine Alex wants to live right now.
I wonder how long it will take him to think about the whole “have your cake and eat it too” side of things…where he gives up the throne, and breaks Nastajia’s heart in the process. I’m seriously hoping this portal business works out in his favor… though I don’t know how they’d manage to protect it from misuse (either by Nightmare Realm folk or people of Earth) if they left it functional just for Alex’s sake. 🙁

And men are stupid only because women are too crazy to figure out yet we are determined enough to try anyway.
Others have noted how they hope that the portal issue can be resolved. Well, earth would be at no great loss to lose Alex. King Tiberion and his queen have both made it to the living world… so essentially it’s just a matter of making the decision at the right time. You know, before they destroy and close the portal.
There is another thing none of you have reliezed! He says he doesn’t want to be king right? Well even if they do get all of this mess settled eventually and they get the gate working and/or the thing I forget wat it was called medallion or whatever it was that Athur and everyone had been working on before he went into limbo and Alex does go thru the gate and Dan is king and whatever else. Here is this question:
How is Nastajia suppose to marry a man and be Queen of the elves? Marry her and the guy autonatically gets kingship right? how is she suppose to run the damn place by herself? It is a partnership! As irrisponsible as it would be (some say) to have Alex remain king of dreamland it is even more irresponsible for her to abicate from her own throne and leave the Elven throne without a heir to it. If Alex doesn’t prove himself further than that battle where he basically played champion to his brothers plans he won’t be very popular to make the Elven King. Haveing a non-elf be the Elven King is one thing but haveing an unpopular and unfit one who doesn’t want the place anyway would be unacceptible. He has to reliaze that at some point if he truly wants her he WILL have to want the throne.
To obtain that position one does have to have an big ego about themself to even believe that they can get it in the first place.
In other more simple words:

Oh, Alex… while you may not WANT it, you HAVE the kingship and the duties that go with it currently. Abdicating the throne at this point is NOT an option… not when you have two worlds to save… and it is YOU, not your brother, who must step forward and come up with a plan because Dan will no always be able to be there.
Alex-rant aside… HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Brendan and Logan! Keep being cool kids and don’t drive your parents too crazy! A little crazy is okay… okay?

He does, indeed, have the kingship now, but he is under no obligation to keep it if they win this war and things settle back down. I don’t think he is thinking of abdicating right at this moment.
Actually, by wanting to connect with Dan, Alex is trying to do what is best for Dreamland. I do agree with Nastajia that there is more to him than he knows, but is now the best time to go experimenting?
Aw, poor Alex. He has to choose between a life he doesn’t want, or losing Nastajia? Now I’m curious which of them (if either) will choose the throne.

Right. I think he wants to be with Nastajia, but doesn’t necessarily feel he’s the right king for Dreamland. He’s not saying that he doesn’t want to be with *her*, or even that he doesn’t want to find a way to still be *in* Dreamland… just that he doesn’t want to rule the kingdom.
If not now then when? When all the exicting and important stuff is all done with and all the important decisions that prove what one is made of and whether or not one is truly worthy is gone? In times of peace and tranquility you can only fuck it up if you tried to do so.
Yeah with Alex’s dissapearance then her parents disapperance added on top she must have thrown herself so deep into her job that leaving the throne and leaving without a heir to it would be like ripping a piece of herself off I don’t think she could or would do it. She and the throne is a package deal can’t have one with out the other. and if he doesn’t become assertive now and go for it then there is no way as future Queen she can allow herself to marry him and entrust the Elven King throne to him. The only off-puting thing about him is his near lazy apatheticness to the whole thing.
We haven’t really got a vibe on how the elven people see him now that i think about it.

Yes! Now IS the best time to go experimenting. What will Nastajia be doing while she waits for him to return. She’s in the middle of the Nightmare Realm. He wants to leave her in danger while he works out a plan with Dan? For all he knows, she could wind up being captured or something while he’s awake.
On the plus side, he will get to find out about Staj’s parents.
On the minus he’ll find out about the crazy mermaid.
All this extra information may end up being too much for them to handle at the same time.
So, yes. Right now, Alex should focus on manning up and coming up with the plan.

Yeah, because the order you fell out of a uterus determines who is more rightful. Plenty of ‘rightful’ kings, and smart ones too, were complete f-ups on the throne.
Alas. Even digging into the bowels (O_o) of my Norton Antivirus Program provides no further details. But a Google search suggests that currently there’s a raft of people getting similar warnings on a variety of other websites. The speculation is that a third (or even fourth) party ad is triggering Norton’s warnings. That shouldn’t be happening; but with computers and the Internet, a lot of things that shouldn’t happen, do. 🙂
And I note I’m not getting the warning now…
I don’t think it ever did. I believe the Sword has said that Daniel would have been King if he’d been able to enter Dreamland; but he couldn’t. And in fact the Sword identified Alex as King during the battle with Nic at the Centaur village. It’s Niviene who is insisting Daniel is the rightful King and Alex should get out of his way and let him get to it. Legally and technically she may be right. But that doesn’t mean she’s correct.

Am I the only one who thinks Alex would still make a better king? Yeah Dan has the smarts but Alex is just a bit unsure of himself. I think there is a kingly guy just waiting to be discovered. C:
That’s not generally how marriage among royals works. It’s entirely possible that whoever she marries would be Prince-Consort and not King. Victoria pulled that off for a long time before her sweet-husband died.

If no Republic… and assuming Dan becomes the king of dreamland… and if they find a way to get Alex back to Dreamland regardless… AND he marries Nastajia … that would essentially make him king by marriage anyway… sort of. SO saying he doesn’t want to be king is equivalent to saying he doesn’t want to marry her…
