Page 923…
Hey guys…
Well…another week has passed. And I hope you enjoyed the pages.
I’m still having trouble getting back into the swing of things. Hopefully by next week…I’ll start getting pages done on a regular basis.
Since I worked through most of my buffer at the last 3 cons…I really need to.
Also…I wanted to thank you guys for the feedback on the Dreamland musical movie as well as yesterday’s interview.
Thank you all.
And lastly…I put up a couple new posts below. So scroll down and read on.
Thanks!
Scott
First! heh, last panels face=classic
aww poor alex! well he has Staj so it’s all good.
Geez Alex. Let it drop already.
First time this comic has made me lol in real life. XD That last expression is genius… or not? lol
Alex’s face in the last panel is so perfect! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! Also, I love Nicole response :). I feel like she should be saying “So what?” The body language make this comic GOLD! I love it :D.
Priceless! Wonder if his bruised ego will be reflected in his dreams?
I don’t think so.
Nastajia: “Why are you so down, Alex?”
Alex: “Because another woman wouldn’t date me.”
I think The Dreamland Chronicles would end right there. Nastajia would kill him on the spot, or hurt him very badly
Whatever comes next, don’t ya DARE make Alex screw up the handing over of the dream item.
It would be so bleeding obvious, it would hurt…
Please think of something else! 🙂
I agree with Random…Nastajia would kill Alex if he even mentioned that there was another girl on the other side of reality. And I agree with Thomas, DON’T let him forget to give that bag with the note to Dan..sheesh that would suck.
“Gimme a sec… I know there’s a reason that’s obviously wrong. Just let me think….”
Love!!!
Haha, about time he got that through his thick skull… Nicole isn’t insterested in you, pal!
that’s very much admitting she prefers dorky guys. yay. LOL
although… alex is pretty dorky too. just in a different way. it’s all about the point of view. 🙂
but nicole’s matter-of-fact response should make it clear to alex now that he’s never had a chance. maybe that’s all the incentive he needs to finally let it go. (unless it comes up in random teasing comments – towards nicole, not dan. THAT I would deem amusing. 😀 )
I agree with you all! If Nastajia did learn of this,it’ll be Alex who’ll be on the other end of her energy arrows!
Bwahaha. I’ve been reading this comic for almost a year now and commented embarrassingly few times. But I just had to comment to join in in saying I LOVE HIS FACE in the last panel. Priceless! 😀
And Alex has no right calling his brother a dork–he’s such a dork himself. 😛 They /both/ exude dork-ness. But in a cute way.
Oooh, burned badly! But he deserved it…
hahaha!! I love Nicole’s response. It just rocks. 😀 Love how Alex is trying his darndest to figure out a comeback. Definitely made my morning.
*snorts* I love that last face. Excellent! You do a great job with characterization in this comic, and push 3d art further than I thought regularly possible. *applause*
Alex, you’re wearing a Thundercats shirt, and you have a Marvel poster above your bed. You’re as dorky as your brother. Stick with Nastajia, before she kills you for finding out you wanted a girlfriend in the real world.
Congrats all for keeping Dreamland in the Top 10 this month! Let’s try for Top 5 in August!
Morning all.
Yeah. I love this page too.
🙂
Thank you so much.
AND? {translated> SO?} = Heheheheheheheheheheh!
I – I think I see smoke coming out of Alex’s ears…
Great page, Scott!
BRAIN not WORK! Me HUNK! Him DORK! Why FOR lady prefer him? Why FOR?
Nicole is like a battlefield sniper, She pops one target and immediately turns easily to another. “POP!” HAH!!, Alex is totally clueless here.
ahahahaha panel four. it’s the caveman look!
“And”? I love that. It reminds me of something I used to say a lot when I was younger. “Soooo, what’s your point”? I really got a kick out of that. 😀
Ha Ha. Our boy just got pwn’d
Now, if only Alex isn’t too busy bleeding to realize how ridiculous it is for him to be at All jealous of his brother. Nothing against Nicole, but she ain’t no elven princess man. Get over yourself. 😉
I think Alex’s brain just broke.
OOOOOOO!!!
Burn!
lmao i love it,such a good thing to see when you first get up lol. “Buh,wah? Nu!I is be cuter?No..wait..dangit” *brain fizzel* And I agree,Staj would probably dismember him xD
Ohhhhhhhhhh! Feel the PAIN!!!!!!! That last panel might be one of the best expressions I’ve ever seen in any comic EVER. Nice job. 😉
🙂
Thanks guys!
Oh my gosh, I’ve been reading your comic for a while now, but this page just made me comment. It’s so perfect, I’ve known guys like this, and the expression in the last panel is dead on, haha!
Love your comic! 😀
just stop while you’re behind, Alex….stop while you’re behind…
Alex’s face in the last panel made me laugh out loud! Priceless!!
Sorry this is so late, but I was just reviewing the chapter and had a sort of realization. Alexander may not be quite as responsible for his mental focus problem as people are implying. When he first found the sword in Dreamland it obviously set him into a new path of destiny. But when his mother took away the sword pendant she essentially short circuited his ability to begin to develop this path in both Dreamland and the waking world. So essentially Alexander was placed into a sort of holding pattern as far as his destiny was concerned until fate could conspire to return the sword pendant to him. This might be why he’s so lacking in certain aggressive or decisive mental attitudes, his ability or opportunity to develop them was interrupted. Just a thought. (I think about this stuff too much.)
Kythie…
Thank you. 🙂
Adriana…
I just wanted to say I love your comic Fall on Me.
Timotheus…
Good point. Very good insight.
Nicole: And?
Alex: …..duh..?
Classic. Loving it all, as usual. :3
Yeah, and . . . now would be a good time to grab your pouch and show them what you’ve got. HEY! I was talking about the magical pouch from dreamland, ya pervs, stop that!
awesome page.. i love the look on his face in the last panel 😉 LOL
NICE
score one for the girl’s back home!
Ok, Alex, now get to the point. The medicine bag.
This conversation isn’t really very useful to the plot, even though it serves the characterisation of the two brothers and Nicole rather well. I’m just saying this because I think you mentioned at some point that this chapter would be longer than the previous ones – if you had been seeking to shorten it, this part of the conversation probably would have been a good thing to cut out – I’m not saying that I don’t like it, I really do like it in fact. It’s really funny. Just from a storytelling point of view it’s rather unnecessary. Sorry. I didn’t mean to sound so negative here.
The interview: I really liked this interview. I guess it tells people more about the person behind the comic, even though really knowing you is an illusion, of course. One I would not submit to. But it is still interesting. I guess it functions a bit like your appearances at comic conventions. People see portions of you and see that you’re a real person with real problems.
About the comic conventions: Knowing that the travels there force you to get you even further in debt is a nasty side effect. I hope with all my heart that some day you’ll be able to clear this debt of yours. It would be interesting if you came to Europe some day. But please only do so if you can afford to spend the money! The comic conventions here are usually much smaller than those in the US. Comic as a medium is not as widely spread here and not regarded as a high art form (except in countries such as France and Belgium). So pure comic conventions don’t have that many people attending (the language barrier isn’t helping either). Anime conventions have it a bit easier, but not by much.
Dreamland as a musical: I’m a big fan of “The Little Mermaid” – or rather Alan Menken’s and Stephen Schwartz’s music. So “Enchanted” was a way of indulging in a sort of childhood nostalgia. However, I think “Enchanted” only worked because it was a parody on the old Disney movies and it didn’t take itself seriously at all in most scenes. I may be in the minority with such a belief, but I think that musical animated movies are a thing that belong to a past form of entertainment – or maybe to a distant future when they will again be appreciated. In these days they just run a too great risk of being ridiculous – especially with real life characters and especially if they take themselves too seriously. And I doubt that Dreamland is thought to be a parody, even though there are humorous parts in the story (aka. personally I just can’t imagine Alexander singing about his hearts desires without bursting out laughing… even if you managed to get Alan Menken to compose the music and Stephen Schwartz to write the lyrics).
If you really want to indulge in your or our nostalgia, then you could always negotiate to make it a 2D feature (either a movie or a series). I’m sure people would love that – and it would deffinitely be nostalgic (after all so many people are calling out for another more serious 2D animation these days). And why not get a Japanese or Korean animation studio to work on it too… that way you’re sure to have at least some success, or maybe the short attention span of a post millenia, consumer public. It worked with Avatar – The Last Airbender, so why not.
Ok. Sorry. That last paragraph was probably too sarcastic. And uncalled for. I guess I just fear so much that TDC is going to fail as a film. I can just imagine so many things going wrong with it. Especially in the lines of it becoming too kitschy or just plain shallow. I also fear that people will make it even more mainstream than it already is – out of a fear of taking risks. This is Hollywood we’re talking about, after all.
Maybe I’m just too old for the target group (teenage girls, was it?). And maybe I shouldn’t care that much…
I truly apologize for the length and the probable coldness of this comment. I did not mean to sound unfriendly I’m just a bit tired.
I think it’s irionic that Alex has a Dragon on his shirt.
FUNNY!!!
i think nicole just hurt his brain.. in the last panel, let’s face it “thinking” or “doing anything useful” isn’t really alex’s forte (actually pronounced fort, not for-tay like americans tend to do)
Oy oy oy, that last Alex’s face at the bottom is priceless!
Yah, the look is great! It’s the look of someone who just got caught in a short volley. In their game of questions, she returned the ball into his court with a short answer and his brain wasn’t ready.
It’s like that picture I saw recently of a kitten that says “I cannot brain today, I haz teh dumb”! XD
Alex seems to have priority issues.
There is a chance that this *does* have some sort of impact on the plot. Eg knights of the round table, part of plot involved rivalry between the “good guys” over a woman. Here we have some potential for rivalry over women on *both* sides.
That might be the first time Alex actually looks like he’s really thinking hard about something.
Scott: Aww, you read my comic! Thank you; glad you like it 😀
Gee, he looks a bit stumped by this one. >,<
When will he NOT be an idiot!!!!!!!
LOL “and?”
Its know from the start that Alex is a moron..and we were 0k with that for various reasons.
But now he’s a tactless twit and a complete arse….I am not sure I like that or that I can root for him.
Still loving the story and world though
Fry face.
That’s the first thing that came to mind for me, too.
