Thank you all for the warm wishes yesterday for our 3 year anniversary of Dreamland being online.
So…now we start a new year. I’m sure I’ll blink and it’ll soon be 2010. Wow.
But for now…let’s enjoy 2009 for a bit as much as we can.
I’m trying to plan out my conventions for this year.
So far I have…

Baltimore Con
I think I’ll be doing a local Anime convention…and hopefully some more.
Anyone have any suggestions?
It’ll be “finances permitting”…but I’d like to see what your thoughts are.
A week ago…I was on Webcomics.com’s forum and there was a thread asking to “show your work space”.
I decided that was a fun thing to do…and posted.
In the spirit of fun…I’ll post here as well.
My render machines and laptop. Along with my wall of some of my favorite comics from old…
My set up. The monitor on the left is for the 3D machine. The monitor in the middle is shared by both computers. The right monitor is for my “photoshop” machine. Techically they’re identical machines…but it’s good to have one set up for 2D and one for 3D. The laptop is to the right.
My drawing table. I do my sketches for the books here. My white board. Keeps me on schedule and organized.
Behind me…my toys and light table. Colored pencils and fax/copier. You’ll see a “terrastation” or 3. I have over 3 terrabytes of work from all the years of animation and all the way to today with all of the work on Dreamland. It’s incredible that we can fill up so much space.
My old render farm. Some awards. More toys. And Donna had my Spider-Man series framed the year it came out. What a wonderful Christmas present.
So…that’s a mini tour of my office. The move to nashville really allowed me to have a bigger office space…and I’ve already filled it up. Yikes.
But I love it. And it’s fun to have the kids come down and play while I work. They are absolutely FASCINATED by my sketching. So if you see little fingerprints in your copy of the Dreamland Chronicles…they got too close to me while sketching for you. Sorry.

Well, it looks like the laughing’s over. It was weird seeing Nicole laugh, but it’s nice to know that she’s not all serious all the time.
well if you’re looking for conventions, there’s one coming up memorial day weekend. It’s ohio’s largest sci-fi/fantasy con. Marcon 44: may 22-24, hyatt regency at columbus convention center.
Congratulations on the 3rd year anniversary. Looking forward to seeing how the story continues to grow.

*insta wake up* New York ComicCon? I’M SO THERE! Were you there last year? Rummaging through my spoils at the end of the day, I found two bookmarks featuring Paddington and Nastajia. But I can’t remember passing a Dreamland booth, though I know I would have recognized the artwork. It was your style that attracted me to the comic in the first place, and I was hooked from Day 1.
woah… that office is even more messy than MY room… on a good day… and would u consider coming out to any conventions in nebraska? i know of some out here… i just can’t think of them right now… XD… oh well. ^^ and finally niccole laughs… i was starting to worry. just what exactly did dan find? the suspence kills…
Wow… it looks like Dan discovered something…. And I also see Spiderman/Superman up there on the wall. I have two of the Spiderman/Batman ones, which were both well-written. Hm. ComicCon, if it’s the one in San Diego, is the closest one to me. I’ve not been able to make it down there ever, though. (It’s an 8-9 hour drive)
Dan and Nicole rolling around on the floor laughing somehow tickled my funny bone. Thank you very much for the Dan/Nicole goodness! 😀
*hihi* That so reminds me of my living room, where I do my creative work, the os-development and – the gaming. Especially when I’m writing on a story, chaos explodes around me. But – hey – it’s not cluttered and STUFFED. You’ve got a rather well organized place here. I mean, even artists can’t work in complete chaos. At least one wants to find the colors and the pens, eh? and, heck, where’s the damned paper? *chuckle*
Besides, I think that funny moment of laughing with Dan & Nicole is worth a smile during the morning coffee. And as usual, you have buildt in a little cliff-hanger to keep us hooked: what’s on that piece of paper, eh?

As for conventions – I’ll put a plea in for DragonCon – it’s the only Con I know I’ll be able to attend.

hi loved the page, who knew nicole knew how to laugh, she is so sericous(sp). As for cons, there is one in Clombus OH. in the first part of July, but I cant remember its name. I will ask my husban tonight and let you know.

I love what you are doing here. The sweetestest of friendships often start with conflict. I see an awsome bond developing between these two. But, I am only a reader awaiting the unfolding of the orchid. Keep up the great work.
Love today’s page, seeing Nicole get a good laugh is great. Adventurecon is in Knoxville June 12-14 if nothing else is during that and it isn’t too far away for ya. I plan on being there if I can, probably use my works vacation days

I am definitely considering some of these great cons you’re suggesting.
I DID go to NY comic con last year. But will not be able to make it this year due to the fact that it’s on my boys’ birthday. So I had to bow out.
I will be in the San DIego con (when I said Comic Con).
I didn’t fit in too well at Dragon Con two years ago when I went. I didn’t really find the audience was made for my stuff. And also…we were kind of tucked away in a hotel basement 2 hotels away from all the fun.
But I’d love to hear more of these other cons. Please keep it up.
When Nicole fell over, I half expected the making out to start, but then I remembered this was more of a family friendly comic. Even better. You’re workspace is pretty friggin’ awesome, I must say. Something along the lines of what I always imagined mine would look like someday.

Do you bring a decent supply of books to the cons? I was hoping to pick up book 3 and not paying shipping is always a good way to justify non-essential purchases. 😀

Yes. I try to bring enough books for everyone at cons. I actually have to purchase all books and toys from IDW now. So my supply is not as big as it was when I was self publishing. But everyone should be taken care of.
“Unfortunately” I’m trying to be overly responsible with my money and I don’t think that I could survive on one of the books….
Although, I did see a study where lab rats who ate a Cornflakes box were healthier than ones who ate the Cornflakes. So, it might depend on the edibility if your ink.
