I don’t think we’re supposed to. He’s a figure from Nastajia’s past, and the past has only been touched upon once or twice.
If he’s the Dwarven King, then he probably had diplomatic relations with the Elven King and Queen, Staj’s parents, so it’s possible that’s where she would know him from.
P.S. It’s totally weird that the text when you’re writing in the comment box is super-huge, but when it gets posted it’s super-tiny.

logistics question – how is nastajia suddenly right up against him? or is that just done for effect? a moment ago she was poised with her bow and arrow, standing far enough away to shoot him – which i thought she just might do…
Hes got feet to walk with. And as far as the multiple dwarves go you did a fairly good job trying to hide that fact. With a quick glance at the panels you cant really tell, its not really noticeable untill this last one since they are the main focus.

the second panel is my favorite panel in a long long time! Great job showing off that bit of fear Nastajia has and the anger the dwarf leader (wont call him king yet) has! Awesome panel!

Jesse, that’s kind of a funny comment. I agree with you; I like Nastajia’s facial expressions. It’s kind of funny though, because if you download the WOWIO books, Scott says he doesn’t like the limited range he has with her facial expressions.
If you look at page 684, his legs are taller than the dwarfs around him. Maybe he is half-giant.

Actually, it’s a trick of persepective – he’s really standing much closer to the “camera” than Nastajia is. Here’s a quick experiment you can do at home:
1) Hold your thumb up, arm fully extended away from your face. Note the size of your thumb compared to a stationary object farther away.
2) Now bring your thumb in, just an inch or two away from your eye, and compare its apparent size with the same stationary object.
3) Now poke yourself in the eye with your thumb, and *go to the next page.*
