Page 1214…
Happy Wednesday everyone!
I’m realizing now that I will have to paint in all of the raindrops as we go.
Yikes.
I also wanted to give you an update on the Advertising front.
Many of you removed your ad blocking for this site in an effort to support us.
That effort. The extra page views of the ads. And the subsequent click throughs of some of those ads has increased our ad revenue 10 fold.
I just wanted you all to know how much this helps.
Thank you.
I am loving these pages. Just for the sheer “cool factor” of doing an inspirational speech.
Yesterday I posted the Independence Day clip. But some of you reminded me of this speech as well.
And it is truly one that I brought to mind when writing this.
Enjoy.
🙂
Scott, you’re a beast
Epic speech
Epic facial expression in the last panel
Epic raindrops.
Scott… You’re EPIC!
Love the comic. Thought you might like this little compilation. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d6wRkzCW5qI
Aragorn`s was the speech I was thinking of yesterday. 😀
I love Nastajia`s speech. She has come a long way too. I think she has been really afraid of all the responsibility that her parent`s absence gave her but it never made her stop and sit in a corner. She has a real talent for leading.
Love her new looks too and her expression in the last panel. 🙂
I appreciate every effort on the raindrops Scott, because they add just that extra touch of more awesomeness!
Aren’t you cold with that outfit in the rain gal? 😀
Fantasy/Heroes 101: No matter the weather the woman with the chainmail bikini/revealing outfit/armor that shouldn’t protect but does, feels not the climate change. Unless if they are in the snow, where the armor will get furs… and still reveal the same amount of flesh.
Nominating Nastajia for a Crowning Moment of Awesome.
also, her speech so far is reminding me of the one from the fanfic: Shinji and Warhmmer 40k:
“You are the soldiers of mankind. You are the Guardians who stand at the Gates of Hell! The dead howl for vengeance, and you must become as the Spirit of Wrath! You shall Eat War And S*** Awesome! YOU ARE DEATHWATCH! KILL TEAMS! YOU ARE THE ONES THAT MAKE THE XENOS DIE!”
and there was much screaming afterward.
In Dreamland, cold does not exists, rain is like taking a warm shower :p
It’s got to be magic. Just look at her hair not getting wet.
I see rock giants and Elves and Centaurs. I think I remember seeing some Fairies too. I do not see any Dwarves. Also no Mer, but with the whole “above water thing” I can understand that. The Dwarves though…them not being here worries me. Did Niccy really kill all of them? Or are they coming?
I sense a tunnel sneak attack.
FOR TO LONG WE’VE BEEN KEPT FROM WITNESSING EPIC ACTION BY LONG AND BORING SPEECH!
Love the fire and passion of Nastajia eyes in the last panel. Well done Scott!
Love it! I can imagine how fun this must have been to write =D
Also, Merry Belated Christmas! I was away for a bit and just catching up now, but I’m glad you and your family had a nice white Christmas! Keep up the awesome work!!! 🙂
Oh yes, and I keep imagining lightning bolts in the background! haha
Ah..very observant. Remember the “changed plan” handed over the last minute ,and Alex and Felicity wandering off to do something very dangerous ??
Hmmm, curious. Attacking a fortified city without siege weapons while friendly civilians are inside.
This is why Tyranids are so great. They don’t need such speeches. They only need… a world to omnomnomnomnom…
No Deathwatch will stop the coming of the real Tyranid storm. Silly humans.
Next stop: Terra. One Emperor burger with Astartes fries please.
Love that!
And you shall have even MORE speech!
Because the writer demands it!
🙂
What Month said. 🙂
Boring? Hardly. Long? Not yet. 😛
I would assume that Alex and Felicity running off in advance would be part of the plan to help alleviate one or both of those problems. 🙂
I also wanted to throw my hat into the “Nastajia in the last panel is awesome” ring. 😀
Her hair’s definitely getting wet. There are droplets in it in the last panel. 🙂 Just because hair is wet does not mean it has to look scraggly and limp.
Her ponytail may lose a little of its “oomph”, but if styled right and protected with the proper amount of elfy magic, it will remain lovely. 😛
Hee! Go Scott! =)
Haha! This made me think of Braveheart’s speech or the one from Independence Day. For some reason Aragorn’s didn’t come to mind.
Oh, if only the Imperium would stop screwing around with the Eldar and the Tau… maybe they could work together to cleanse the REAL vileness from space, like the Necrons and Tyranids. Would never happen, though. Tau are still growing quite well, all the same, and taking on their fair share of human membership. And, quite frankly, they’re the closest thing to ‘good guys’ in the 40k universe.
I’d have mentioned Chaos, but that might as well be an internal matter. Very personal for the Imperials. Far more even footing, there, too. And Orks are mostly just an annoyance. They’re like Barbarians in a game of Civilization.
When you have a collective, there is no such thing as motivation, only the will of the whole. Problem with that, though, is individual soldiers are much less likely to try something unorthodox, but effective, all because they weren’t explicitly told to do it.
Nastajia looks totally bad@$$ in the third panel. Good thing Alex isn’t around to see it. He may get so distracted that he forgets to do whatever he’s about to do.
its actually pretty realistically saggy
Whoooaaaa…..LOVE the last panel. O.O
Just found this comic yesterday and read the archives in one go and I have to say I LOVE it. Truly awesome artwork plot and characters. Keep up the great work!
Thank you, Radius!
So glad you took a chance.
Hope you continue to enjoy the story.
🙂
Hmm, I keep thinking that everyone is going to raise there weapons when the speech ends. I can’t wait for more, I love this comic! Great work on the backdrop and rain, Scott.
Oh yeah, I also love the way she looks in the last panel. 😀
Speech ends, crowd raises there swords “FOR DREAMLAND!”
Whoah! My avi keeps changing.
First its Kiwi, and then it went back to the old one. Odd…..
barbarians with spawn rate set to INSANITY.
If you don’t have a gravatar, the site picks a random avatar for you.
Maybe she got some styling tips (and mousse) from the mer-people?
Besides: once you purchase the books, you can skip over the speech and get on with the action–or not, since reading it only takes a few minutes. Remember, this time through, things take a lot longer, since we only get one page per day.
And now, for the first time in dreamland chronicles , there will be some blood ….
Not quite the first time: Nicodemus got cut by the sword (green blood): http://thedreamlandchronicles.com/the-dreamland-chronicles/chapter-01/page-26/
does it seem to rain harder as she speaks?
her voice is so epic it can control the weather! lol
Love the comic, as always…
About painting the raindrops: I read somewhere of a quick and dirty method of doing it, where you take your image, add an additional layer, on which you add a noise effect, then add a motion blur effect. With the proper transparency, voila: instant (or almost) rain…
And don’t worry about the naysayer complaining about the lengthy speeches… there will always be one in the crowd… but since nothing forces them to actually read your comic, and since they are not in any way, shape, or form, in charge of you, you go ahead and do what proper storytelling demands must be done. The rest of us will still appreciate it.
I second these statements! ^.^
Here here!
She is wearing bracers. Maybe they are “Bracers of Defense and Protection from Weather”? (sorry, I’m a former D&D player)
Another good one that might apply here is G’kar’s speech from Babylon 5: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPjmxIWLEaU It starts at 2:10 in that clip; I tried to find a clip of just the speech, but no dice. XP
maybe the dwarves are to short to be seen in the shots, since most of them are shots of the chest and up?
Welcome, fellow Dreamer!
Don’t forget to VOTE! (And buy stuff, and unblock the ads, and anything else you can think of!)
Yup. There was another cut to Nick later, as I recall, and I think there was a bit of blood during the pirate fight …
I’m wandering where all the Dreamlanders’ human children are right now. I mean, it’s gotta be night in some part of the world, so there’s gotta be kids dreaming somewhere. Are they watching the battle? A part of it? Do they have a big daycare somewhere for when things like this happen?
i assume you’ve never been to tvtropes.org, then you’d know the answer to that question
Nastajia: “Today we purge this disease from our land!”
Alexander> del c:\Dreamland\GameBin\NPC\Nicodemus *.*
Nicodemus: “Oh cr….*”
Nastajia: “There! Purged!”
Could be worse.
Could be ghouls, gugs, and ghasts from the Nightmare Realm.
We won’t talk about the shoggoths.
The rain looks GREAT!
At least the barbarians occasionally give you gold or tech when you take their villages…
I’m sure the Nightmare Realm could dhole out worse things 🙂
Wow, the water effects on Nastajia in the last panel are great. Plus, she really looks like a leader there.
Yes… both of the human children were terrorised by pirates… ALL TWO OF THEM!
Also, epic windswept hair in last panel.
