Page 876…
Hopefully this page answers some questions (though I’m sure it also creates new ones).
I think we have time next chapter to get more into all of this. I have certain “plot points” I need to hit each chapter. But if I’m up to it…maybe we’ll flesh this out a bit more.
There’s still another week of dialog between Kiwi and Paddington. But just wanted you to know my thoughts.
My back is feeling pretty good. I’ve been working long days. I have a 4 week cushion of renders already. So hopefully I can keep up the pace.
I’ll let you know if anything becomes a problem…but I promise…I’m not pushing myself. I’m having fun.
🙂
Have a great Wednesday and see you guys tomorrow.
Scott
Another week of Paddington and Kiwi? AWESOME!
If I remember my LOTR correctly, aren’t dwarves like dragons in that they like to horde treasure? Maybe Bognok and the others didn’t ask too many questions when Nick came to them with the deal.
Well, if you remember, up until last chapter the dwarves were loyal to “King” Nic. They had no reason to distrust him, so when the “king” (and I highly emphasize the quotation marks) asked them to do something, they had no reason to say no.
Ah, well, and there I thought his family ate them all…
(after seeing him munch on the trees…)
Hm. That makes sense. Kind of sad in a way. I’m guessing Paddington’s family will always hold a grudge against the dwarves, even if they have now “changed sides.”
Take care of yourself, Scott. It appears that you’re not pushing yourself too hard, but listen to your body when it tries to tell you things.
I was with mjkj. My first thought was that they ate all the trees, but then I thought, nah, that can’t be right. Poor Paddington. 🙁
Please don’t worry about the “pace”! You know we’d much rather have you healthy and happy than in pain & stressed out!!
I like the side story that rou have presented here for us. I look forward to Felisha’s part in the tale to come.
What–no fun for you! Doing what you love….is that allowed?;)
No, honestly, I think what you’re doing here is great and what’s best about it is that it’s reader friendly!! Wonderful to have something of such an excellant quality that the whole family can enjoy. Thanks for your hand work.
hehe, treestumps dont fill you up like a grown tree 🙂
now i understand why you thought of a having a background made, it would have been chopped down trees and such, hm hm well found, i didn’t think of that.
at kitsune: they make the treasure as far as i know (in most fantasy stories), dwarves are master craftsmen who litterally live in mines (from which they mine precious minerals and ores). My guess is that they got offered to make those ships but didn’t know what they were for, to be honest, I would accept the offer too if I didn’t know he was going to use it to kidnap the children.
then again paddy doesn’t know for sure if the dwarves did it, (now my LOTR knowledge comes into play) dwarves don’t really like forests and unless Big Red offered loads of money, or something, I dont think they would do it, then again they WERE very loyal. I wonder what Nicodemus would offer them besides money, maybe threats, … I really wonder 🙂
to Scott: glad to hear you aren’t pushing yourself, if you are I WILL take the next flight to America and MAKE you take it easy (and have a chat with you because people with lots of imagination and creativity are people I like most of the time + I’m curious to how the story will go on ^^)
There is a balance to the world when creatures only take what they need. It is when industry gets greedy that the balance is upset. Industry can actually benefit nature if it is conducted thoughtfully and wisely. Course, when industry is led by a megalomaniacal dragon, disaster occurs.
Love the message of this dialogue, Scott.
Thanks guys!
I’m enjoying this sequence. I’m so glad it’s coming along OK.
🙂
Aww Paddington is so sad 🙁
I don’t think we can ever have too much Kiwi!
I’m still wondering why you emphasized the “offering”… probably for no other reason than to show that Rocky emphasized it, but it still makes me wonder what they what they were offered… but why make the dwarves do it if you have so many minions, dwarves are (well were) allies and need payment, while minions will do it because you tell them to
Beautiful pages this week – this story keeps pulling me in more and more.
Also, some Bible study triggered this question: Was there any particular reason you decided to give Nicodemus his name? Or was it just a name you liked and has nothing to do with the New Testament account at all?
Hey Wowey…
I got the name Nicodemus from the movie Secret of Nimh.

Ahh. Well, that makes much more sense. If I remember correctly, he always creeped me out when I was younger…
Thanks! 🙂 And wonderful pages, once again!
I had that thought.
Agreed! Kiwi is probably my favorite. Anything that gets her more panels is a good thing. Her size, relative to the other characters, dictates that all we usually get to see of her is a point of light and a trail of butterflies. Just like in this series.
I just hate it when someone just comes along and makes pirate ships out of my food reserves.
