Page 856…
Happy Monday everyone.
3 more pages to go after today’s page.
If possible…I’ll try to get all of them up this week.
Donna had a great weekend in L.A. for her friends wedding.
The boys and I spent the weekend playing video games and eating pizza and such.
We had a great boys weekend as well.
Thankfully my parents are nearby and Grandma cooked all weekend for us too.
🙂
Back is still a work in progress. Still extreme pain. Especially when sitting. But I’ve also not been taking any medication for the pain. So I’m basically feeling EVERYTHING.
But I can feel the exersise is working. And that’s good. I’ll let you all know if anything changes.
Thank you again for your patience with 3 days a week last week.
And thank you again for all your wonderful encouragment.
We love you guys. Our whole Sava family. Thank you.
Scott
That was weird Scott. Never do a page like that again. Just kidding.
A war you say?
and the sword still has me confused =\
No kidding. Sword with an eyeball says there’s going to be a war. The sword is possessed…. 😯
Naaah, I got the first post 😛
Oh ya, I hope you feel better soon!
A war, eh? Probably with the nightmare realm
Or with the dragon that watches the Princess Bride too much.
A war? With Gilder? 😀
The sword talks?! Neat surprise!
I SO LOVE THE HILARIOUS LOOKS ON THOSE TWO’S FACES!!!! ROTFL!!! *keeps it up for a few more mintues….* ooohhh scott u devil! and finally the sword speaks… and i’m guessing that the sword meant they weren’t ready to kill a dragon? (for all those leveling up type yahoos…) and yay! war is coming war is coming! WOOT! get the drummer and the flute boy!! along with the flag! *runs off to get them…* KEEP UP the good work with getting ur back in shape… and i’m somehow extremly hyper right now… *sees red bull can* oh.. that’s why…. lol..
Hehehe @ Alex’s face. O_O
Alex’ expression in every single one of the panels made me laugh. Nastajia shows her shock with a bit more dignity, but that’s to be expected.
Take care, Scott!
Yeah, just had to echo other people’s comments about Alex’s expression. I mean, if the sword I had been carrying around suddenly started talking, my eyes would probably be that big too 😉
oooooh, suspense. I`m sure they understand much better now, lol. War!? Oh my….
It`s great how the sword is looking around like that. 😀
I`m glad you feel the therapy is helping and that you had a good weekend! Don`t worry about the pages, take your time…
Ooooh…weird page.
Feel better soon, Scott. Good to know phsyio is workin’
I to must echo the voice of wow Alex’s face say so much.
hope you contenue to fell better. Bet the boys loved having you all to theirselfs. Thanks for all the hard work you put in to this comic
ahah I love Alex’s expression in the first panel.
creepy sword – there’s no way that thing is good.
If I was Alex, I wouldn’t dare touch it again – not until some serious explaining…
Love this one, and the expressions.. 🙂
People will most likely hate me for this, but now go read the panels again, using Yoda’s voice in your head for the sword. Whole new dimension of tackyness… 😉
Bah… every great epic story like this must have war. Can’t say I’m too surprised. Nick’s been ruling for hundreds of years. Also, they have at least two or three tablets to discover, in addition to the one the centaurs have. Ah sword… you are so enigmatic, but your part in the scheme of things was needed.
ANOTHER GREAT PAGE !!!!!
glad you are progressing too
I was NOT expecting the talking sword. It has an eye, it talks, and at times as a will of its own, could it get any weirder?
STOP SITTING!
Oh! And thanks for your hard work… but, please, STOP SITTING!
Take care and get well soon! 😀
That page was awesome! I love it. Well worth the “wait”.
*blink, blink* It talks!? Now I’m torn between thinking it’s really cool and really creepy. lol! Great page though, Scott, and I too adore Alex’s expression in Panel One. He’s so cute when he’s clueless. lol!
Glad you had a great weekend with the boys. Sometimes just having a good time with your family can be the best therapy. Definitely keep taking it slow and y’know no one says you have to be a “martyr” and not take your pain meds. *shakes finger at Scott* Docs give you them for a reason. You don’t have to take them all the time, but it’s a huge drain on your system to be in constant pain. Believe me I suffer from pretty bad migraines and while I hate to be fuzzy, I’m more exhausted and grumpy if I try to ride the migraine out instead of take my meds. Sorry for the mini lecture, but we worry about you!! ^_^
I really like the way the chapter is ending, Scott. Is there another eye on the other side of the sword that Alex & Nat can see?
Also, you should take the pain medication. When you have a chronic pain situation, your disc is touching the nerve in your back, telling your body something is wrong. However, you can’t do anything about it, but your brain doesn’t know that and your brain keeps upping the pain signal — it gets worse, basically for no reason. You need to break the cycle with anesthetics!
My doctor told me to take the drugs as early as possible. If the drugs are eating actual pain, you will get more tired and irritable from the pain than from the drugs.
The only reason for not taking the drugs is really bad side effects or previous addiction problems.
Hey all.
So glad you liked the page.
Avery…
Yes. Good question. There is an eye on each side.
I figure they move in the same direction…like ours.
Great page. Alex’s face looks like it’s stuck on ‘my sword has an eyeball?’
Can they actually see an eyeball on that side of the sword? Or are they staring only because it talks?
Okay, admit it. You got that eyeball from Saul Tigh, didn’t you?
Hey Tom.
Yes. There’s another one on the other side.
ArdRhi…Saul Tigh?
Sorry…never heard of him.
Is he an author?
The idea of the eye on the sword was from a few different things ranging from Beastmaster to Thundercats to some things I remember from D&D when I played in Jr. High.
And now all I can picture is Alex holding up the sword and going “Thunder, thunder, THUNDERCATS!”
That all sounds rather “Five more minutes…” to me.
Haha! Love their expressions in the first and last panel the most! 😀
Hope you get better soon 🙂
:DD
O_O
Scott,
Saul Tigh is a character in the latest Battlestar Galactica TV series from the Sci-Fi channel. He gotted his eye poked out by the bad guys early in the series.
Cool page, Scott.
(but can anyone ever, ever, really be prepared for war…)
Dude, that was great.
I could have sworn you got the Talking sword idea from Suikoden 1-3 (He could talk had a whole face around the hilt and had an attaude(It was called the Star Dragon Sword)
Talking/sentient weapons aren’t really anything original by this point. They’re all over the place, so it shouldn’t be too surprising if people remember them from other things.
Something is wrong with the previous page, it looks like the file got overwritten by another file (perhaps another page that’s supposed to be between that one and this one?). Right now it’s a low-res jumble.
I see nothing wrong with the previous 5 pages, nor with the way this story is developing. After all, it was stated by Arvamas that the sword was wise, and that Alex would do well to hold it. That statement has been given merit with the unfolding of the past 2-3 pages.
Hey Scott, have you tried sitting on an inflatable exercise ball? That might help your back a lot. More prayers and thought goin’ your way buddy.
JMKOOL, if you are reading this, this is in response to your comment on Friday’s strip. This is not really the “Excalibur” scene, however, in the beginning of the comic, there was one. And yes, only the rightful King of Dreamland could remove the sword. That was when he was a boy.
Yes, having a different posture may indeed improve the comfort when you are seated. And, I know that you have sworn of the meds, but have you tried 800MG of Ibuprofen? It is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, helps reduce swelling of tissues and acts as an analgesic. I use it whenever I have a headache, and that is the ONLY med that I use. It’s also improved my gimpy left knee, and injured left shoulder.
Scott, if the meds work, DON’T STOP TAKING THEM!
Take it from a guy who’s popping Advil every 8 hours, until he can get his treatment back up and running.
LOL. Alex’s face is like what I imagine mine would be if I discovered that air is made of icecream. I love icecream.
Not taking pain meds actually has its benefits. Or rather, you skip out on all the possible bad side effects (ie. double the pain when it wears off, hallucinations, temporary loss of motor skills, loss of control of said motor skills, thirst for human blood…etc.) which is especially good when taking care of kids.
I’m rather scared right now that Alex has a talking sword on a necklace.
*creeped face*
I just looked back up the page, and Nost and Alex both look especially creeped when the sword-eye turns towards them.
now a talking sword… that could be usefull for pranks back in his college life… stick it in his friends pocket and have it make cellphone noises durring a lecture….
Okay, it really makes sense now, knowing there’s an eye on the other side. Good stuff. And personally, I’m glad to see the sword talk – we knew it had it’s own ideas when it slashed Nik’ there. Yay!
Its good that you and your kids were able to get that time in together. Most kids don’t get that now a days. Oh and I don’t know if you know this yet or not but the best physical therapy is done in the water. so if at all possible you can do your exercises in a pool or something. your working the injury a little harder in the water but its not that noticeable and it helps with the pain. 😀
I love the look on Alex’s face!
Forget the sword, THEIR FACES!! LOL!!
hahahahahahaha. I could not stop laughing at their faces. Best part of the entire page.
ok that was weird
very very nice side.
check this webcamchat
see u
YES. YES. YES. This comic has everything! Comedy, romance, fantasy, pirates, ninjas!(well not ninjas exactly but felicity is close) And now a living prophetic sword!!
I love their expressions, going from utter confusion to looking to each other for reassurance. Great Page!
Creeepy…
Cool, the sword has a help file!
I love the style of the speech bubbles for the sword. I wonder if Scott intended that to indicate that the sword was actually speaking to all of them telepathically? To me that would make sense, for a sword with eyes but no mouth …
😉
(Of course, you could also explain it by saying that the sword vibrates itself, modulating the frequency of the vibrations to generate audible sound waves in the air. This would probably still sound a little weird and metallic, which could also be the reason for the unusual speech bubbles … )
Creeeepyyyy!
Okay, creepy talking sword . . .
Creepy moving eyeball in the talking sword…
Creeepy. At least the sword finally talks
And from now on, every time he uses the sword, he will be concerned about poking its eye out.
…THE SWORD IS ALIVE
IT MUST BE LIKE THE ONE RING
BURN IT! BURN IT ALIVEEEEEEE!!!!!!!
Oh boy.
A talking sword.
This must be the most original plot twist in history
