I wonder of the cat’s name is due to a bladder control problem…
The “Mr.” leads me to believe that Nicole was just making the name up. Is it weird that my first reaction upon seeing the name was “but that’s a calico”?

I’m sensing some kind of a “Scabbers” idea running here. Cat’s having been considered somewhat of a deity of ancient Egypt, etc.
I don’t think thousand year old mythical pointy things glow just for kitties in the bushes.
Perhaps not but maybe an Egyptian mythical pointy thing would have a fondness.

That … felt anticlimactic … but the humor is humorous.
That was funny. But a twig DID snap – something kittens can usually only cause by falling on them – and Excalibur DID glow. I suspect there’s something else out there, not willing to get too close to Dan now that he’s armed…
Sometimes people name their pet(s) “Mr. | Mrs. {insert name here}”, so the cat’s name really could be “Mr. Tinkles”. Anyway, Dan should not wield that sword in the public; that blue glow could cause some attention.

I wouldn’t count on this being “done.” We still don’t know why Excalibur was glowing…and I doubt it was the cat.
Frame 3 is a reverse frame (looking from their back) of the cat running off. The blur is the cat hitting mach 1.

Maybe it just glows when there’s something unseen around? Hm.
I really hate having to play devil’s advocate here, but that cat model doesn’t seem to like having its limbs manipulated. All four limbs look like they’re broken (or, at least, fractured). Also, a cat would lower its head when running; the pose just doesn’t look natural.
But, hey, first nitpick in a VERY long time for me. Pretty good, considering I started reading back in, what, chapter 3 or so?
They need to be alert. The sword didn’t glow because of a cat.
Hey if someone thrust a huge glowy sword at your face in the middle of the night, you might become Mr Tinkles too
