Sythiar: The point of the argument is that asking your visitors to click the ads is forbidden by some (many) advertisement networks. Like Google Ads for instance.
In their book they will simply *not* pay you for the clicks once they find out you asked people to click.
Opaque: I thought you were dead right about Google Ads, being a (currently inactive) member of that programme myself, but it seems that their T&Cs have changed. Section five of their T&Cs (“Prohibited Uses”) merely prohibits the generation of clicks “through any automated, deceptive, fraudulent or other invalid means”. They don’t even seem to prohibit page owners from clicking on their own links anymore, which is nice, because sometimes you want to see what the heck is being advertised on your own dang page, and clicking is the easiest way to do it.
So yeah… support Dreamland and its sponsors: click on an interesting ad today.
I can see how asking your readers to click the ads could be taken as an attempt to “cheat the system”, but we know that’s not your intent. Besides it’s a great and free way to support you. Especially since hubby & I are moving next month. I keep having to remind myself unless I want to pack it up in another box as soon as it gets here I have to wait! I’m not so great at waiting… arrrrrrrgh!!!!
The blurb I always put in printed programs runs something like, “We hope you will patronize the businesses who have sponsored (fill in the blank).” The same principle applies here.
Well he’s just pointing out that like TV shows, if the advertisers see that it isn’t worth supporting a show (or in this case comic) they’ll pull out their support. So for the artist’s sake as much as our own, let’s support him ๐
Why do I have the feeling that the man in the shadows is going to be someone Nastajia actually knows? ๐
Well, there’s something for Pirate Dan at the bottom, which apparently is… “authentic pirate hip-hop”. I clicked it, and listened to a few tracks… ouch.
About the ads, I would check them out if I could see them. One site that I visit often (which ironically, is how I found this site) over did it on the ads (like many sites), which led me to install the ad blocker. Sometimes, though, you do find a jewel in the wreckage ๐
Just wondering; how, since they are not dwarves how could it be treason? I think the big dwarf is being carried by others, in like a sedan chair, my best guess.
I did better than click–I just bought some T-shirts from the Retropolis Transit Authority. Of course, this is why it’s good to have ads that appeal to your target audience. That way everybody wins! ๐
As for the comic, I have to say that I’m curious if the “traditional” dislike between dwarves and elves will be a factor in all this, but I’m willing to wait to find out.
You know, you could just put up a donation box with a meter and everything, your comic is so good I can guarantee you it would fill up pretty quick.

Nastajia: “Treason?! Wouldn’t that mean we’d have to be citizens of the dwarf kingdom first?!”
Megadwarf: “Oh cut me a break, I majored in metallurgy, not law!”
I dunno, you could make a case that asking readers to click on ads for products they have no interest in just to support the host counts as fraudulent. Also, if it’s pay-per-click rather than per view, lots of clicks but no sales would push the cost-benefit of taking ads further towards the cost. I know if I was paying more for ads than the ads were bringing in revenue I’d pull them PDQ.
Well… I’m all for clicking on ads, so you won’t hear anything of the sort from me! I don’t really see the point of the argument…

the leader of the dwarves needs a serious kick in the head and a reality check.

Wow…you remember black and white TV??

He is awfully tall for a dwarf. ๐
uh, what ads?
Well, there’s something for Pirate Dan at the bottom, which apparently is… “authentic pirate hip-hop”. I clicked it, and listened to a few tracks… ouch.
Its Dwarfzilla raun!!!!

Hey Decent…
Coding error. I’m working on it.
๐
The chapters at the top of the sidebar work though.
I may be wrong but that shadowy figure hidden in the back “sounds” like Nicodemus
Can’t . . . comment . . . must click . . . ads . . .
It’s Oberon!
Treason and Lies. Blasphemy and Madness!
Pretty tough to negotiate with someone who insists that everything you say or do is, “Treason and Lies!”
:'(
(^_~)
Peanut butter and jelly! Oh wait, what?
Nastajia: “Treason?! Wouldn’t that mean we’d have to be citizens of the dwarf kingdom first?!”
Megadwarf: “Oh cut me a break, I majored in metallurgy, not law!”
Madness?!?!
I’m trying not to blow up like a volcano.
Actually, if the dwarves have bought in to the idea of Nicodemus as “High King”, then speaking against Nicodemus would indeed be treason.
๐
What’s with Staj’s face on the first panel…?
Peanut butter and jelly! Cookies and cream!! Baked beans and Spam!!!
Ah, frak. I should read the other comments before commenting myself.
*doffs hat to Overlordlaharl79*
Bingo.
He’s annoying. I would have shot him.

From lies to treason and lies. Really moving up in the world.
