Well in a spinoff of New Age religion there is a “Love – Fear” scale (which I consider too simplified to categorize every kind of emotion), where love is the ideal nirvana-like state, and fear is like a discordant frequency that disrupts peoples link with the one. Even a yogi can loose his abilities if he gets too agitated, so I suppose the kid is right. I wonder if they need a happy thought to fly, like in Peter Pan.
wait, so if you’re out of the pirate’s hands, and you know you can fly to perfect safety, you’re still scared? >.> Oh well, at least it makes a bit of sense. Also, didn’t the fairy say something about Alex having to believe he can fly?
Daniel: “See, fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering. In this case, the suffering of hitting the ground really really hard.”
Pirates:
Our chief weapon is surprise…surprise and fear…fear and surprise…. Our two weapons are fear and surprise…and ruthless efficiency…. Our *three* weapons are fear, surprise, and ruthless efficiency…and an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope…. Our *four*…
Well, if you think you’re gonna fail then you do fail. That is standard for dreaming.
The solution is to empty the mind and simply do what you know you must. Put aside concepts of success and failure and just visualise what you need to achieve at maximum magnitude.
My dream-flight isn’t conventional. It involves telekinetically pushing the world down beneath me… in jumping bursts typically. Takes a lot of concentration.
So does that mean Alex has been a total pansy for the past 636 pages?
It’s a distinct possibility.
No, because in the first few pages he was flying.
But after that, yes. Total pansy.

Is that like a priest, or are you talking about the Jellystone park resident who is “smarter than the average bear?”
