The Making of Dreamland Page 32…
Today’s the last day of 2009.
YES!
🙂
I did not enjoy this year for the most part.
Here’s hoping for a better year in 2010.
Â
Please have fun tonight. And I will see you all next year!
Happy New Year all!
Scott

Oh. And don’t forget. We still need help with the Wiki.
Gasp, I’m surprised to hear you didn’t enjoy this year what with the rising popularity of your webcomic and books and the movie deals and other stuff that brings, not to mention your boys hosting a convention featuring all of your works.
Anywho, you helped brighten my 2009 and here’s a big cheer for an even greater 2010.
Interesting. Mind if elaborated on why this year wasn’t as enjoyable to you (minus out the recession)?
Well, now I don’t have to ask for that pattern for the railings in my house if I ever get to build it.
I am surprised to hear that 2009 was not enjoyable for the most part – so many of your posts were positive. But then again, every good in our lives is tempered with the bad, the trick is to not focus on the bad things, but use them to make the good things stand out more by contrast.
I suspect Scott is referring to his infamous back injury, and the long recovery that followed. (First mention I found was here, so the original injury was early this year: http://thedreamlandchronicles.com/2009/02/10/page-832%E2%80%A6/)
Having spent the last year recovering from some complications from pancreatitis, I can empathize with Scott on that point – a long recuperation tends to drag down everything else going on …
Here’s hoping for a better 2010 for both of us, Scott! 😉
For everyone: don’t forget to VOTE! http://topwebcomics.com/vote/4274/default.aspx
Okay, that link didn’t come out right …
Let’s try that again:

😕
I’m with you, Scott. 2009 sucked rocks and I can’t wait for it to stop being this year.
2010 is going to be much better. Cheers!
I’m with you about not liking 2009 – except I hated it from beginning to end!
As was said in a recent comic (elsewhere) – “I’m not staying up to see in the new year – I’m staying up to make sure the old one leaves!”
And how do we join gor the wiki?
Nothing like a back injury to suck the fun out of the party BUT you shouldn’t let that overshadow all the good times. I bet if you go back through your own posts that you’ll have a better view of the year.
There’s no log in yet. Just start editing.
That is a GREAT quote…ha ha
Wow. Those are some amazing pictures, the detail is leaving my head spinning.
Ok. WHY I didn’t have a good year.
One of my friends lost his wife. My Uncle lost his wife. Another lost his father and Uncle.
But also all of the wonderful things that were supposed to happen in Hollywood this year did not.
Not that they went away. But they just literally sat around for a whole year instead of going into production.
It’s hurt us a bit financially. But we started 2009 with all of these movie and tv deals. All of the books going into the stores…and a lot of optimism.
By year’s end…we’re drained.
Now. That being said. You are right. It WAS a wonderful year with the comic. Hitting 1000 pages.
Book 3 came out. And all of the wonderful new friends and readers.
I do try to stay very positive on the site. And I’ll continue to do so.
Dreamland IS a happy place after all.
But I’m still happy 2009 is over.
🙂
When a person is having to deal with thorns in their life, one can be reassured that they are probably cultivating a rose.
Despite all the troubles 2009 brought, “Dreamland” continues to Blossom.
So, farewell to 2009,
All the more welcome is 2010.
I’m sorry to hear about your losses. I think 2009 took more then its fair share of lives. I hope Hollywood moves their fat bottom in 2010. TV shows and movies are the best way to bring in new fans IMHO (and it was the first Twilight movie that made a diehard fan of a friend of mine.) Seeing Dreamland on the big screen, and I’d spludge on AMC rather then my local theatre, what a joy that would be.
I’ve been watching voting traffic the last few days to see if I could figure out some averages. The average voting rate on Top Web Comics for this comic is approximately one vote every half hour. Compare that with “Goblins” approximate one vote per minute, and you can understand what happened when Scott released those hidden letters as a voting incentive. We had enough people voting that we were OUTVOTING what Goblins normally receives (i.e.- we were receiving more than approximately one vote per minute, but not enough to counter Phoenix Requiem’s approximate 3 votes per minute).
This is a serious travesty, viewers! I know you read this, otherwise you wouldn’t have known to vote so you could see the letters! If you truly appreciate this comic, take the 10 seconds to click the link in Tek’s post, save it in your favorites in IE, Firefox, or Chrome, and vote! I know you can when you want to- so, want to!
Better yet- make it your New Year’s Resolution that you are going to vote everyday. 😉
Happy newyears to Scott and everyone here! I am looking forward to a new year full of many more wonderful adventures in Dreamland!
Wow, the detail is just gorgeous! I somewhat agree with you Scott, I didn’t really care for 2009 either, but happy new years anyway :D!
Ashendel condos! Model units available for viewing, completion in 2011!
Construction Update:
The condos in Ashendel were available for living, but an unforseen fire nearly destroyed the condos recently, delaying the final construction of the condos. We thank you for your patience and appreciation during this time, and hope that you will join us in 2012, the new date for final construction of the Ashendel Hills condominium subdivision.
A lot of people that I have sent new year greetings to agreee, good riddance to 2009 and a welcome to the dawning of a new decade, the second of this millenia.
I vote regardless of incentive, so that isn;t a factor. But with peeps traveling for the holidays, our voting contingent may not be back in full swing until next Monday, 04-Jan-2010. I’ve been harping about keeping TDC in the top 10 for I don’t know how long, and I’ve basically given up telling other to vote. I will just remind you all, I can not do this by myself.
The story just gets better and better. I look forward to the next chapter with much anticipation.
i love the rich details

I bet there is a public library near you. Some people can log in at work over lunch. It is, in fact, one vote per IP address not per person. FYI the owner of posted explicit rules and roaming to computer centers or driving to various wifi spots is not technically cheating.
