Page 877…
More sunset. More talking.
More information. Yay!
Newsarama just previewed 17 pages of my new book Cameron and his Dinosaurs.
It’s an All Ages book of course. Mainly for 6-11 year olds. Take a look. Post a comment on the Newsarama site and let me know if you liked it.
There should be 2 more previews coming out soon. I’ll let you know when they do.
And finally…
I decided to go a crazy route with the convention backdrops. I wanted people who walked by to get a glimpse of Dreamland. But I couldn’t do it with a single image. So I kept coming back to just posting frames from the books.
So here’s what I did.
Maybe it’s not “eye catching” or even very creative.
But time was running out…and we got a good deal on the three backdrops.
I’ll let you know how they come out. But thank you guys again for all of the advice and help.
Hope you enjoyed today’s page. And see you guys tomorrow!
Fantastic graphics and colors.
How tragically beautiful! :O And your poster is absolutely amazing. How could it not be eye-catching? The colours, the pictures…they pop off the page!
Just fyi, you misspelled “deplorable”.
I think that the posters look amazing. They’re a bit busy, but I honestly don’t think there was any other way to do it. The original black ones you had were a little too austere…
Oh, and I’m loving this side story. I love Paddington!
I love the way you flesh out your world so effortlessly. Part of what keeps me coming back.
I asked this before, but after the convention will those backdrops be for sale/auction, or do you plan to reuse them?
I like learning more about Paddington and his people, thanks!
Also, awesome backdrops! How big are they and what are you doing with then when you’re done? I have some extra wall space . . .
The backdrops are great. A lot of fantastic moments from the series but nothing is really given away.
I must say that i like the 2end poster the best, followed closely by the 3rd. The first poster just gives a view of dreamland like “we got violence, action, beautiful girls and kissing mermaids, what else could you men want more?”
It’s just not giving full credit to the story. 🙂 that’s why i like the 2end the best: you see the real world, you see an under water shot, you see a shot in the dungeons, you see a shot of the palace. 🙂
further, even though i haven’t answerd for quite a while now, i’m still reading with very much pleasure, scott ^^
Well, Scott, the busy-ness (if you will) of the poster is either going to do two things: It will make people stop to see what’s going on, or people will avoid it. Personally, I’m the type to stop and check them out 😀 I like how you included some of the funnier facial expressions (Like Nastajia’s bug-eyes look while chasing Felicity in the 3rd or Alex’s “oof” face in the 2nd and Paddington’s “1-2-3” pose when he was teaching the centaurs to dance).
The backdrops may be “busy”, but they provide a lot for people to look at and if people get curious they can ask you questions! Great job!
hihi i was right about the dwarves loyalty ^^
nice page again! Paddy forgives them because he knows, I like him 🙂 there is also no reason to be mad for their actions too
Great Backdrops and an even better page today!
Paddington’s face in panel 4 was a perfect sad Paddington face…
I like the backdrops. I think by showing people a little bit of the art in the comics will entice them to further examine the comic itself. But that might just be me! 🙂
Wow… Paddington is showing quite a bit of understanding, and being sad at the same time… it’s hard to have a trust betrayed of so many years. Hopefully the two races can reconcile.
Going to head to the comic shop today and see if I can pick up Gary the Pirate. Wish me luck.
I like the backdrops that you have up. Can’t wait to see them at conventions in the near future. I have enjoyed the back stories that you have provided. It shows the depth of Nick’s deception in how he has played the cultures of Dreamland against one another. With dwarfs, elves and the others quarreling, they can not unite against Nick. Not a bad strategy though.
DOH!
I woke up today and saw…I spelled deplorable wrong.
Ugh.
Then checked the comments. Sven (and I’m sure lots of you guys did too) caught it. Thanks.
I’ll head downstairs and fix it now.
SO glad you guys like the posters. I just can’t explain Dreamland any better than showing them some of my favorite panels.
I sure hope it works.
As for the question about my previous posters…I’ll think about it. Don’t know what I’ll do with them.
Is it just me or does Kiwi seem a little big compared to Paddington in the first panel?
She’s just closer to the camera and farther away from paddington than you think…
Fixed Deplorable.
🙂
And LeAnna….
yes. I have to bring her closer to the camera every once and a while so you can see her. Otherwise…as seen in previous pages…she’s MINUSCULE compared to Paddington.
Yeah, good strategy on the dragon’s part. Destroy the old alliances and make sure they are hesitant to band together in the future.
I’m really enjoying this segment, Scott. Side stories get the reader more personally involved with the characters, and help them to learn more about the wonders of Dreamland.
I think the posters are great!
Scott, you -could- do one of those picture thingies where the picture is made up of different frames from the story. I wish I knew what they were called–it’d take a lot of work, though… Maybe make a Kiwi out of all different Dreamland panels. Kiwi’s small…it could work… >_> I love the posters. I’m drawn to purples and indigos. 🙂
@ Kryssie, I think maybe the word you are looking for is “collage”? That would be really neat, but I gotta say I love these new posters, especially the second one! All three of the posters are great, but number 2 does the best job of really capturing the essence of Dreamland if you ask me. 🙂
there are 8 frames with Felicity in them…speaking of which how is she doing? there hasn’t been a visit to her well being in sometime… poor Felicity…6 frames with Kiwi…5 with Paddington…10 with Nastajia…18 with Alex…
lol then threre are a bunch more xD
Just a heads up — your link buttons are all broken. I wanna link you on my webcomic site =( I was hoping to get one of the 88×31 buttons… I guess I will just have to text link for now tho… I’ll check back to see if they are up later XD
Kiwi’s gonna kick some dwarven butt next time she sees them. I like how Paddingtom is sad but accepting as to what happened, and Bognok did show blind loyalty to Nick before Nastajia finally broke through.
Wow… Sweet job on the posters! For a quick little put-together, you certainly made it look exciting! And I’m pretty sure I saw some spoilers in there. (Such as Alex flying, kiwi using special powers, and aligator people coming after Nicole.) Now I’m >really< curious. I can’t wait to see where all this is going!
Hey Androboy…
No spoilers. Those are all in past pages.
Have fun finding them.
🙂
Hchano…
Yeah. I no longer have the links. I’ll see what I can do.
I love them! And I can’t help but notice how in the first two posters there are pictures of Alex getting kissed…although atmittedly the first is the mermaid scene, which wasn’t really kissing….But they’re very cute.
Yay for character depth!
Good to see you plugging along again. Was shocked to see daily updates once more, but it’s nice that you’re back to full capacity.
Really digging the preview of Cameron. Does Andres have a website, by any chance? I like his style and I’m wondering if he’s got any other work anywhere for folks to see.
It’s one of these mellow, melancholic evenings… breathtaking settings.
I believe the word Kryssie is looking for is photomosaic. And while they’re really cool, it would be insanely difficult to put together and the individual pictures would be too small to appreciate in the type of poster Scott’s doing. I think these look great! I though they would be too busy, but really they just seem to draw you in! Beyond that, yaayy, story!!
This [kinda] vaguely reminds me of the relationship between the dwarves and the trolls in the Discworld books.
Dwarves and rock giants seem to have gotten along really well in the past, at least, though…
This would seem to explain why Paddington didn’t say much while the crew was in Hilmdell …
😉
Wow. Paddington’s actually smarter.. and a bit more outspoken… than he looks. O.o
No offence intended, Paddingtonn. O.o;
