Page 872…
I like how this scene works. I hope you do too.
This is the first time I’ve EVER in Dreamland…written something in Dreamland that Alexander wasn’t there for…or heard second hand.
I was TRYING to have the whole story be “told” from Alexander’s perspective. But I realized while writing this…that I miss out on a lot.
So I hope you enjoy this glimpse into Paddington that will be happening. It’s kind of fun…and it bypasses all of the boring “flying” talk Orion was going to do.
🙂

Oh…
And if you want to read 20 pages of Tracy Bailey’s and my book Gary the Pirate….
DIG IN!

Thanks all!
Scott
Wait, what about the time Nic (the girl) told Dan about when Felicity was captured? Alex was nowhere near them when that happened.
It sounds fun to drop into Paddington’s POV soon, and Orion’s talking was getting a little boring, even for an adult. But I do wonder how Alex will describe his lackluster grades.
@LazerWulf, he said he never did it in the Dreamland world itself. What Dan and Nicole did was in the “real world” of the comic.
lol, the last thing anyone want when beeing in an awesome fantasy dreamland on a great adventure is to go back to school (or work in some cases =P)
Yet again I stay up to see the update 😀 I love it. This scene is both funny (Alex) and cute (Paddington) I’m excited to see more about him. He seems interesting.
“RIIIP”?? Did the centaur dude just toot?? ROFL!
XD Sparcman, I think that was Paddington uprooting a tree. Your remark cracked me up. XD
I saw the same thing sparcman did. It’s the same level of humor that the whole feather thing was. The RIIIP seems to be placed in the right spot, and his tail hairs look like they could be getting blown out of the way. This casts Alexander’s “OH boy” in a totally different light.
Maybe the RIIIP could be repositioned.
Poor Orion… he’s trying to have a serious conversation with Alexander and all we can think about is the feather sticking out his butt and him breaking wind. I’m cracking up over this and I’m 23. I can only imagine what would be going on with someone under the age of 10 if they noticed.
I think Scott may be goofing on us and seeing who makes the comment about the “strategic” placement of comedic elements
Sticking a feather in your butt does not make you a chicken
It’s obvious Paddington is the one who let out a rocky gust of air… but I agree that you should reposition the rip or have big P say “excuse me.”
Great job, keep it up!!
Hi all! I’ve accidentally found the comic few day ago. Somehow it reminds me about “The Pirates of Dark Water” which is really amazing or maybe I thought so when I was a kid.
Thank you Scott for bringing some piece of childhood back!
P.s.
And yes..
in my opinion the “RIIIP” part is open for our interpretation =)) It has a different meaning for different people. And there is always more in a creation than a creator meant ;)) isn’t it?
since it is his dream, he can alter his body and such, he can become a flying firebreathing rock if he wants to, it just takes imagination and belief 🙂
I thought Paddington had tooted. so you could take Alax’s oh boy two ways *smiles*
You guys are hilarious.
No…it’s just Paddington uprooting a tree.
He’s having dinner you know.
🙂
For the record…if it was a fart…
It would have been “BRAAAP” or “BREEEP” or just “FAAAARRRRTTTT”
hahahaha! Thanks for the clarification, Scott. I stared at that panel for a good minute trying to figure out what was going on, and yes a fart sound did cross my mind. I’m a bit puzzled as to why Paddington would uproot a poor tree… back scratcher maybe???
I just read the “Gary the Pirate” preview and WOW. The artwork is INSANE! The story is classic. You have struck gold once again Mr. Sava! I’m looking foward to adding this and the other new books to my Sava library.
@torinaura: Who says “Excuse me” after farting?
Mark me down as another one who thought Padington farted. 🙂
I didn’t like the change of point of view between 3rd and 4th “squares” or “panels” (I forgot the right word). The camera moved too fast, giving me the feeling of Alexander and Orion going forward (North) and then turned left (West) very very fast! I think 3rd or 4th box should be made again and it could be useful to avoid “I think Paddington farted” thoughts.
By the way, I didn’t thought Padington farted, but I thought his pants ripped. 🙂
Hi, I’ve been reading for a while, but this is my first time commenting here. I just wanted to say that even though a farting centaur wasn’t the intention, the last panel makes me laugh uncontrollably. Thanks for making my day, Scott!
Rock giants eat trees? I thought they eat rocks.
Rock giants eating rocks? That sounds too close to cannibalism to me. But maybe that’s just me.
I hadn’t thought of what Paddington would eat. But since it comes up… Herbivorous makes sense.
‘pl..please sir may i have more?’
‘more? THERE IS NO MORE! D<‘
lol Alex made me think of ovlier twist quote!! xD
PADDINGTON DON’T EAT THAT IT’S POSIONOUS!!! -slaps a mr. yuck sticker on it-
also Orions necklace is just like…a scraf…>-> or something i don’t see any teeth!! ;-;
I thought Mr. I-Have-A-Feather-Sticking-Out-Of-My-Butt farted. Though the feather looks like its painfully suck up there, so I guess we can’t blame him for ripping one. XD
LOL! I figured Paddington pulled up a tree… (but I also wondered if he sort of had gastric disturbances, as well…)
I think the “RIIP” shall be removed.
Ugh I hate that question -_-
So that’s where gary the pirate has gone into hiding! It used to be on wowio and then they kicked everyone in the face.
If not “RIIIP”, what then would be the sound of a tree/bush/shubbery being rent from the ground? “STRIIIIP”? “CRACK-SNAP-RIIIIP”?
I never would have thought Paddington needed to eat anything….I thought he was just rock xD
Looking at that last panel again, I noticed that I can’t seem to see the feather anymore. Maybe he was… expelling it… kindof like a cough or sneeze.
Sorry to be so juvenille, Scott, but these last few panels have brought me a great deal of joy and laughter.
@Tom Flapwell Well, I certainly do and pretty much everyone I know does as well. It’s polite.
Yes I read the riiip as a fart too.. However, I also agree it’s open to interpretation. I wouldn’t remove it though as it really explains that he is pulling up the tree and not just carrying one around. The issue is the sound effect is placed between Paddington’s and the Horse man’s rears which lends to the mistake. I’d simply move it above Paddington’s elbow and problem solved.
Yeah, I was wondering if it was comedic relief, after such a serious few pages.
Graphics are way too cool.
Honestly, I didn’t notice the sound effect the first time I read it, but when I first noticed it I quickly forgot about it, figuring it was the sound of the tree.
Obvious to me that Paddington was ripping that tree out of the ground. This is a good argument for my higher-res panels idea! 😀
Perhaps expanding the point of view from Alex’s limited experience means we’ll be introducing another human’s perspective? I guess we’ll get Dan in there once he’s ready to be king (conjecture), but will Nicole be rejoining Dreamland?? I guess I’ll just have to wait patiently to find out.
Wanted to mention I just read the preview of Gary the Pirate — great work!
I love the Gary the Pirate so far 🙂 Good work!
Orion: “I will teach you the cheat codes for Dreamland…and you will then have power over the noobs.”
Wow, two blasts from the past in the comments: the Pirates of Dark Water (a “new” cartoon when I was a kid) and Mr. Yuck Mouth stickers!
Is my nostalgia about these showing my age?
😉
That pirate book is cute, I like how agressive the girl is. XD
And the comments on this page made me laugh fiercely… I hope the author isn’t upset by all the notice Orion’s rear end is getting…
Agreed. I feel cheated whenever I have a dream about school or work.
