Page 781…
Ok…here’s the scoop…
Comicpress doesn’t allow me to post double page splashes.
So…I have to split up the page into two parts.
For those of you who want to see it all in one…here it is.
I gotta say…Stefano blew me away with this city. It has such a rustic feel and design.
This isn’t the whole village too. Wait till you see the rest.
π
Anyways. I have to go. Thanks for reading.
Scott
Amazing! I love the feel of this city! π
Wow…. again I say wow… that took my breath away as well. O_o
Impressive… Western style?
Woot! Our boy Alex has a sense of direction! Yay!
And that is an awesome page. Why won’t they let you splash it?
hm, this city looks a little bit like a wasteland village from the “fallout”-videogame serie =)
This building design is really cool.
Is it bad that I am almost disappointed that Alex found the right place? It would have been cool for him to have a small adventure…
Hey Scott. It was so great to meet you at Philcon! I had a great time, and really enjoyed talking with you. Thank you again for the books, you are so generous. Your boys are even more adorable in person. I’m so sorry your wife was sick and I wish her the best of luck with a speedy recovery. You are a truly genuine person, whose talents and generosity will continue to pave your road to success. Thank you so much for allowing all of us to join you on that ride!
My Paddington plush sits on my desk at work! There is nothing like a squishy rock giant to take you mine off a stressful day. Who can be glum with that cute smile, even at the morgue!
I couldn’t wait to get to the Centaur village. It’s great! I can’t wait to see more. There’s a home on the range kind of feel that seems fitting for their kind. They have always been one of my favorite species, canΓ’β¬β’t wait to see what you do with them. Teehee!
Wow, that is just awesome!!
Where did you get the idea for the village? This area seems more (industrial? modern?) than the rest of Dreamland.
absolutely amazing and brilliant work.
Can I use the big version as my wallpaper? Pleeeeeease?
(I’m hoping you’ll say yes, and preemptively downloading and using it… but if you say no I’ll get rid of it.)
Thanks all!
Krisslanay. So great meeting you as well.
You’re too kind.
π
Allison…
Absolutely!
Thank you.
That village looks pretty unique. sort of western plus circus.
Wow, that really was not what I expected for Aethos at all…I was imagining something much more grandiose, I guess my mind has centaurs as such an advanced and lofty people that I thought their city would be more like…well more like Ashendel, only different. But this…this is fabulous. It feels so much more natural for the centaurs. The low buildings, the landscape…rustic is definitely a good word, but there’s so much detail as well. Great job to both you and Stefano. I love it.
I’m a teeny bit disappointed too Edana, it would have been fun to have a mini-adventure with just Alex, but I’m also glad he found his way to the village.
It is truly gorgeous! Very different from the rest of Dreamland. I cannot wait to see the centaurs up close. They’ve always been one of my fave fantasy creatures. ^_^
In the words of Lord Vader…..Impressive !!! π
π
Thanks all…
You’ll see more later on…but I wanted the Centaurs to be more like Native Americans. So you’ll see a lot of influence of their style and culture there.
Holy crap wow!!! That environment is *beautiful*!!!!
The transition from the last page to this one was rather sudden (another page where he goes down the cliff would be a bit better in my opinion).
The page is nonetheless amazing. I think this one has to be my favourite world up until now (and me preferring something to anything under water is saying something). I didn’t see many episodes of that show, but somehow it reminds me of this 90s series “Hercules” – I hope you take that as a compliment.
I’m anxious to see what’s yet to come and what other parts of the village look like.
Wow, that two page shot is awesome. I cant wait to see more of the village.
I absolutely adore it (and I’m not just saying that as a centaur fan). Centaur fandom has debated the nature of ‘taur buildings before, but yours work beautifully. They do seem to have a handle on wind power. I almost wouldn’t be surprised if they have a “replacement” ship available.
Darn, I was hoping for a mini-adventure, but this is cool too. Besides, I do want to check on Felicity’s condition. This place absolutely amazing! Not at all what I expected, not that I had anything in mind when Aethos was first mentioned.
great page.
can’t wait to see the next one.
the village look’s a bit like a fair
agreed 100%
impressive indeed

The instant I saw this it reminded me very much of the building style of the Tauren race in the World of Warcraft MMO. Maybe that was the source of inspiration?
Hmm. This looks, to me atleast, alot like the Tauren villages in the game World of Warcraft. Love that game. <3
That’s a very interesting architechtural style.
I wonder how the Centaur’s manage to build all those complex and tall constructions of wood and rope, seeing as their anatomy should make it rather difficult for them to climb…
@JackAce – maybe the centaurs asked the dwarves to build for them, and in return, the dwarves get free pony rides.
I hafta agree – this is awesome. And it’s definitely something that makes sense for centaurs – I don’t see them building ‘up’ very much.
I just found out about this series this morning and I haven’t done anything but read it. I love it, the story is amazing and I can’t wait to see where it goes. Great work!
Wow!!!! Looks awsome!!!!
Great!
So long as we don’t see Horseties outside the buildings LoL. I can go with Centaurs in a western themed Palm Springs California town.
Yaaaaaay! The Centaur Village! This is awesome!
Your first double page splash. Very worthy.
Eloc, there have been other double page splashes: one or two of the desktops, mostly when they come to a new city.
Getting the tall structures up actually wouldn’t be that hard. Ever seen a barn-raising? Same principle: if you have enough people and enough rope, you can build just about anything at ground level and then hoist it up and brace it. Add some simple block and tackle for the heavy stuff, and you can get some pretty tall and complex stuff up without ever leaving the ground.
(I’m not an engineer; I just play one in the forums … )
π
Aethos…. interesting name. The word “ethos” (same pronunciation) means “the characteristic spirit of a culture”. I wonder what the ethos of Aethos is? π
A few pages back someone posted that there were too many unnecessary frames. Me thinks Scott should use own judgimint.
I would have pronounced the “A” as a separate syllable like “atheist”. Maybe they are lacking culture or were when they named the place.
How disgustingly African
Scott that picture is just amazin!!
