Page 754…
Happy Monday everyone!
I hope you enjoyed your weekend and this is another fun week of Dreamland. I hope you enjoy.
If you haven’t scrolled down to the other blog posts. I received an adorable painting from Sarah Ellerton (Inverloch and Phoenix Requiem) today for the IDW cover.
Please scroll down and check it out.
I’m leaving the “Books are in the Book Stores” post for another couple days. Because it’s so important.
Again. Please go to your local book store. Wherever you are in the world. And order the books. Any book store should be able to get it. We really need your support.
Thanks
Scott
THE BOOKS ARE IN THE STORES!!!!
Ok guys. I’ve been talking about this for almost 3 years now. Some of you were around when I got my first rejection from the retailers who wouldn’t pick up Dreamland.
So I published the books and sold them myself off the site. And you guys supported me.
But a good deal of you waited for the books to hit stores. You wanted to purchase from Barnes and Noble, Borders, or any of your favorite book retail chains.
Well…as of today…I have not one…but TWO books out in stores.
The Dreamland Chronicles Book One!
ISBN: 9781600103070
Ed’s Terrestrials
ISBN: 9781600103100
Dreamland Book One is 300 pages. The first 4 chapters. A LOT of book.
Behind the scenes, Extra Covers, a Map, and more.
Ed’s Terrestrials is a funny graphic novel for kids 5-10 about 3 aliens who crash into a boy named Ed’s treehouse and befriend him.
Both books are available.
Now…here’s what I need ALL of you to do.
1) If you are one of the readers who wanted to buy Dreamland at the store. Please go to your local book retailer and ask them to get one for you (unless they have on in stock).
2) If you ALREADY have the book…please STILL ask your store to bring one in. Even if you don’t buy it…it’ll be at your local store for someone else to get.
3) Tell your friends and family. Word of mouth is HUGE.
For the last 7 years I’ve been working on Dreamland to get it to where we are today. I have at least 3 more years to go.
As most of you know…I’ve put tens of thousands of dollars into the production of this series and this is my full time job.
These books CAN be a big support of keeping this my full time job. And allowing me to finish this series. So even if you’re broke you can still help by getting a friend or family member to pick up the book. It’s not much to ask…and you get a lot of book for the price.
You all know I don’t like asking for much. I don’t have a donation button. I don’t cry poverty. I don’t make excuses and miss updates.
I try to be very professional.
So you know even asking you all for this is a bit uncomfortable. I don’t want anyone to feel pressured.
But I need to prove to the Barnes and Nobles, the Borders, and all of the retailers that we DO have a place in the book stores. And I can’t do this alone.
So if you have time this week. And feel so inclined. Please go and help us out. We’d really appreciate it.
Thank you all. We wouldn’t be here without you. At page 752. Over half way through this epic adventure.
You give me daily inspiration and courage to keep doing Dreamland. You guys are the best.
Hope you enjoy today’s page. And thank you for being on this journey with me and my family.
Scott
Woo, first post if no one beats me to it!
I find it intriguing (sp) that the princess cares for Felicity when I believe she did not like her at all.
:c) I believe, she realized that she did her some wrong with her animosity – not only because of the head-washing Alex gave her regarding Felicity in the last chapter. I am glad, Nas is not THAT stubborn and actually has a fair head on her shoulders 🙂 it would have diminished my liking for her alot, if she had stayed so harsh 😀 … anyways … I just ordered the book through Amazon 😀 Hope it’ll arrive soon.. it’ll be the perfect gift for my goddaughter as it’ll speed up her English learning… Yey for Dreamland as Teacher *G*
Yeah well. You *didn’t* stop Felicity because you believed what Nicodemus said about her being a scoundrel and a thief. You wanted to watch her get humiliated by Nic and now that you have, you feel guilty. Boo freaking hoo, princess. How were you going to stop her anyway? Shoot her with a bow?
fly alex fly, YOU should do something and re learn how to FLY!!!! lol. 😉
The bad guy is ALWAYS the bad guy. Even if/when he happens to be saying something you want to hear, it’s not for the reasons you want it to be said. But maybe our princess is realizing this…
Seems that hindsight is always better than foresight. Yet, everything happened kind of fast. I don’t see how she could have stopped Felicity. Better to deal with the business at hand, than to worry over what should have been…
Great personal insight to the characters, Scott!
Glad to see Nastajia caring about Felicity. I guess the grilling for the truth (Still believe she is partially innocent, and that she is on their side) will come when she is healed and able to talk.
Heh, she doesn’t believe Nic… or at least, feels Felicity has proven her self enough for a second chance mayhap?
Or maybe Nastaje still doesn’t like or trust Felicity but didn’t want to see her suffer that much.
I am new to Dreamland after finding it only a couple of weeks ago, but I did fight the urge to order Book 1 directly from you. Finally today I made it by my Barnes and Noble but it was not on the shelves … however I did order my copy for store pick up. I hope everyone reading does the same. We all need to support Dreamland … there are far too few fun for all ages adventures of such stellar quality. Keep up the good work Scott!!!
A couple days ago, someone posted that Nastajia looks weird. I’ve noticed it as well. I’ve tried to figure out what it is and here’s what I’m thinking (may or may not be right):
1) Her shoulder pads have moved closer to her neck and no longer appear to be attached to or possibly attached to anything.
2) Her … erm… chest… looks like it may have grown a bit and her… ah… armor… hangs a little lower on her frame than it used to as a result. She also looks kindof top-heavy like she might fall over. Maybe that’s just the positions and camera angles over the last few strips.
Scott, if you did change anything along those lines, I think it looked a lot more natural the way it was before. It looks weird now.
I knew deep down she liked Felicity, she was just put off by her flirtatious personality thats all
Hi David…
Actually NOTHING has changed. I promise.
About a week ago…the pages were just made on a new computer. But that doesn’t change anything physically with the characters.
The only thing you may be noticing is that Nastajia is running. And therefore leaning forward a bit.
Hope that helps. And thanks for commenting.
Scott, is it?
I love the story behind Dreamland Chronicles and it is very admirable that you put so much work in it. I guess you try to make the best of things you are enthusiastic about.
Well, all I wanted to say was that the comic has inspired me to finally write a story of my own, that I’ve been putting on hold for about two years.
Also, a question; will there be any more dwarf-ish-appearances in the story? I have a thing for those apparently.
Keep up the awesome work, regards from Iceland.

I think that Nastajia is learning the hard truths that (1) a ruler cannot deal only with the nice and good people, (2) some people believe they have, or think they have, reasons for acting less than fully good, (3) people can have a change of heart, and (4) if you kill everyone who deserves death, you may live to regret it. It’s part of growing up, especially as a ruler.
Alex: “I got it, I’ll take her back to the real world with me, then Nicole can treat her for a head injury!”
Nastajia: “Wait, what?”
Alex: “I’m grasping at plot hooks, okay?”
Take a ruler or small object and measure. For example the distance from Nastajia’s chin to hairline is the same as chin to cleavage when she is looking forward.
The coloring is clearly different. The new armor glows. The extra brightness allows for higher contrast shading on other surfaces. The extra contrast makes bulges look perkier even though the shape and basic curve is the same. Could be that the whole image is just rendered differently. I think her abs are more pronounced too.
Agreed. Any intervention would have been problematic, especially since Nicodemus had not yet explained to the Dwarven king about his ancestors. An attack by Nastajia or Alex may actually have forced the king to side with Nicodemus.
