Page 746…
Sorry…not much to say tonight.
I want to thank you guys, though. I’ve been reading every message and I’m SO glad you like this chapter as much as I do.
I’m working hard at staying ahead. I have my cousin Chris visiting and it’s taking some time away from work…but I’m confident I can keep my 5 page buffer and hopefully next week extend that buffer to 10 or more days.
The new computer is really helping out and I think you may even see a difference in quality by next week.
Thank you for reading and I hope you have a great day!
Scott
Scott –
I can see why you’ve been excited about this chapter – Bognok has just become the first Dreamland ruler to declare for human rule. And look who’s standing over there holding a sword out of legend in a suit of magic armor?
Looks like Alexander is going to have to face up to the possibility of taking on a job that’s a lot more serious than he cares to be. This should be fun to watch!
To his credit, it doesn’t seem to be a prospect that’s even entered his head. Of course, it’s going to be even more of a complication when he wakes up. Given that a certain dedicated med student is already concerned about his mental state, she’s going to think he’s developing megalomania to go with his delusions!
Given the way this could go, Alex could well decide going up against Nicodemus is the least of his troubles…
Much to anticipate!
Thanks!
I have to say, Alex doesn’t seem too thrilled with the implications of that statement coupled with that look.
One question though. What is that black thing the straw haired dwarf has?
i don’t think nastajia considered this possibility too seriously before now, either.
@Arnoud It’s the shadow of the “purple” one.
Next scene : CHAAAAAAAAAAARGE of the dwarves ? 😉
ha! dwarfen toughness! 😛
even in nicodemus (how do you spell that?) would throw him down the mountain, burn him, and goes brakedancing on what’s left of him, the dwarf king probaly survive ^^
You’re awesome scott, keep it up.
Just letting you know there should probably be some blood on his beard
I find it interesting that Bognok suddenly believes our band of adventurers just because a dragon said he killed dwarves. That doesn’t prove Nic wasn’t the real king… and considering how prepared Bognok was to kill them all, I just find it a bit far-fetched.
I’m confused. A few panels ago, the “whole place is coming down”. But, in the panels that followed, not so much.
thanks for the new pages ^^
btw isn’t it ‘an ursurper’ instead of a :p?
Thanks all…
Katana01…
There is blood on his beard. You just can’t see it on the web. But in print…you see it.
Throfin…
The room they were in was coming down due to the gaping hole. They’re now in one of the main tunnels which has hundreds of support beams (minus two Bognok knocked Nicodemus through so far)
Drake7707…
We discussed this a few pages back when I used Usurper. “a” is the proper use according to popular vote.
🙂
Yea! Someone else believes Nicodemus is not the rightful king of Dreamland! Thank you Scott!! I am happy now. And remember, Bognok got to read the tablet completely before Nicodemus smashed it, so he knows the real history of Dreamland.
“Dwarves, RALLY TO YOUR KING!”
“Um, which one?”
“THE HUMAN ONE!!!”
hehe, love alex + nastajia’s expressions =) and the purple hair dwarf… hehe, his eyes went wide ^__^ and bognok’s hair so glossy + velvetty~~
when xaxnar mentioned this job may be more serious than alex would like, it suddenly reminded me of alex’s brother… wonder when we’ll find out why he has never been to dreamland + wonder if he’ll ever come…??? maybe nick put a curse so that the real king will never come, and alex’s brother is the real king..? =P just guessing =P
I’m super excited for what’s to come!!! I’m pretty sure there is gonna be a show-down in the Dwarven Kingdom pretty soon….and it’ll be great! Scott, you’re amazing, and I absolutely love this comic. I’m so glad it’s a long webcomic series, ‘cuz if this epic adventure ended in the near future I’d be crying, no lie.
Awesome! I hope we get to see all the Dwarves swarm Nic like a zerg-rush in Starcraft! xD
“AN usurper” 🙂
Seeing as it kind of hit all of us already, I couldn’t wait for somebody to connect the idea of a human king directly to Alex. He needed to hear it at Some point. 😀
Go on… tell them what they did to your forefathers…
Methinks that the dwarves will either join against Nic, or think that Bognok has gone mad, depending on where their loyalties really lie. Maybe it will even vary between the dwarves. *gets out popcorn*
It’s pronounced yoo-surp-er, so “a” is correct, not “an”.

Better quality in the comic? Can it actually get better than this?
I’m glad you took the break Scott, this chapter is my favorite so far! I can’t wait to see what Felicity has to say for herself.
Of course, it’s going to be even more of a complication when he wakes up. Given that a certain dedicated med student is already concerned about his mental state, she’s going to think he’s developing megalomania to go with his delusions!
And once Alex gets used to the idea of becoming King of Dreamland, it might also dawn on him that this job might require him to reside in Dreamland permanently…
As in: Not waking up anymore…
And as we know, he’s clinically dead while he’s sleeping…
*Looks at JackAce’s post*

Anywho, we have the dwarves in support of him…the elven kingdom…possibly the pixie kingdom…
All he needs is the dragon kingdom…Yeah…right…
I keep reading this over and my eye is always drawn to that blond dwarf with the “black beard.” It’s really weird-looking and confusing… plus it changes in all the panels and disappears in the last.
Someone left a post saying it was the shadow of another dwarf but it’s way to dark to be that. Sorry, but little things like that always distract me.
I Just caught up! found you through Phoenix Requiem.
Who? Me or Sarita?
😉
A human is a bit of an odd choice of a ruler, since he’ll disapear when he wakes up and who knows when he’ll return. What if he wakes up during something important?
We don’t know how the King of Dreamland thingie works. It does seem that each race has it’s own king, like Bognok for the Dwarves, and Nastajia (Princess Regent?) for the Elves.
Oh, I left out the main point: Even if the King of Dreamland comes and goes, the racial Kings could keep things running for him.
No, not at all. Dwarves (of this story, at least) value honor and loyalty above all else. Bognok could never believe that his ancestors were traitors. Ergo the dragon lies.
Last panel, Nastajia seems to be almost hiding behind Alex. Not really something I’d expect from her.
“a HUMAN must rule dreamland”
