The wedding?
Now comes the unwritten caveat of Dreamland, fun and games until your majority, and then you are cast into the eternal fires of Mt. Doom to appease the gods or dreams and nightmares!
You know it would really be cool if sword necklace worked so that when Dan went to dreamland his brother Alex would come back to Earth. Alex could be a superhero on Earth while Dan was the King of Dreamland with his super powers there. Eh just thinking out loud for fun. Still hoping Alex gets appointed his brother’s regent, but at the least he’s always a prince.
Could the sword not be lent to their mother to allow her to visit Dreamland?
Would allow visits once in a while…
I should add: because her mother is in the king’s line, it may work (of course, there is a 50% that the line went through the father as well)
That is a touching thought, but unfortunately there are a couple problems with it, that would prevent it from working. First, If the sword did pass to the mother, then Dan could never visit again. Once Dan was able to wear the Sword, it would never work for Alex again. Orion warned Alex, when they tried to let Nicole wear it one time, for something similar, that it can’t be used temporarily.
The other factor is that the succession of kings isn’t based (at least not entirely) on bloodline. This is evidenced by the different kings mentioned. While David and Solomon were father and son, Julius Caesar wasn’t descended from them, and Arthur wasn’t descended from them or Julius. (I mean, I suppose it could be written that he was, since there is so much doubt of his actual existence, even, but the legends don’t really support it.)
Nicodemus also indicates that the Sword “picks” people, when questioning it, in the Nightmare Realm, about having picked Alex, right before deciding he’d rather deal with Daniel.
What I wish is that they found a way for the necklace to show “video” like it can in Dreamland, so their mom can see Alex.
What is the “big night”????
Normally, wedding night has little different associations, but yes: I think this night would be the wedding day in dreamland.
If I recall (I know… I know… I wrote it…. I should know this) but didn’t Nicole try it and the necklace didn’t work for her?
I’m pretty sure you can’t just hand the necklace to anyone.

I’m thinking coronation, too.
I hadn’t even thought about that. I guess I thought it was more like “tag, you’re it,” and off you go. Stands to reason there’d be such a thing, especially given the downfall of the Dreamer, defeat of the Nightmare realm, Nicomedus’ death, return of the enven royalty, etc. Lots for the inhabitants of Dreamland to digest.

I like to share some ideas i did had some days ago. What if mam (or dad) did already know all much more about dreamworld then we ever have seen in this comic so far. And that sending the box including the sword was al on purpose. And first i was thinking the books that Dan wrote as child where in that box as well, but maybe mam suggested Dan to take them with hem earlier.
For me it makes a lot of sense that mam does not get that much insane as i would expect to something that has happened in the last chapters. And i would i have been at the police to report a missing person etc. Also have those strange people to stay would not be cool by me at all.
So what if mam/dad has still contacts with dreamworld and (s)he did know the issues that was rising in dreamland and see did know (s)he must get alex back in dreamland to help to restore the balance there.
What do you guys/girls think about this?
See? This is one of the weird ironies of creating fiction. I have a friend who I KNOW would remember my world better than I do after a few years.

can someone remind me when mom met the elves again please? So they started explaining the situation to her before they rid of Gilgamesh? And she still didn’t help guard her son against fuzzy beasts?
At first, I was thinking wedding, but after seeing the comments about coronation, his look of apprehension in the last panel makes far more sense. That level of responsibility comes with a heavy burden.
There is still the magic bracelet Arthur completed just before being trapped in Limbo. It would allow adults from Earth to visit Dreamland while wearing it. Merlin may well present this to Alex as a wedding present. Then Mom could visit Alex and Nicole could visit Felicity. This could happen by Merlin giving it to Mom so she can attend the wedding. As a being of pure magic Merlin can now show up wherever he want to.

Well, I’ve been a big fan for at least a decade, after one of my college friends told me about the site. At the time there were chapters available on from Wowio (I’ve always assumed fully authorized by Scott), for download. I don’t even know if that site still exists.
It has been a top webcomic for me since I first got into reading them. It has been consistently on my reading list, along with GPF and OOTS over the years, with those being the only 3 that I’ve been reading for that long and checking on a regular basis.
I think Merlin and Niviene are pure energy now. I don’t think they are coming back. But who knows!
The parents really seem out of the loop on this per the links in mightycleric’s comment below. Someone else mentioned that maybe it has been a few weeks since Dan first broke the news about Alex to them, so maybe that’s why she’s not hysterical.
