It doesn’t appear Gil abides by that distinction, or perhaps he succumbed to human greed for power long ago and couldn’t abide passing the power to a successor if there was some way around it. Which reminds me, we haven’t heard from the sword itself in a long time.
Peace may always be the First Option, but Dan will find that Force is the Second Option. It remains to be seen who the Sword of Kings thinks is the True King. I do note that Daniel’s invulnerability and power rest with his mastery of lucid dreaming in Dreamland and not on being King. That just lets him enter Dreamland as a dreaming adult.
Hmmm…Gil doesn’t seem very friendly first thing after waking, does he? Not a morning person maybe? Dan should see if having Nic make Gil a cup of coffee helps…then attack when it doesn’t. 😛
Sorry to say, i have never seen Dan as THE right king from the start, for me Alex is and will be that.
For me Dan is only a thinker/talker but he has no power above that. And will be overwhelmed by the power Gil is showing. When he does not look out, the last moments are counted for hem. He can only be rescued by alex and team. And the need to be there really soon.
I guess Gilgamesh became quite hooked on the surroundings and appearance of the almost real Dreamland. Time for him to fight his addiction I guess (though I don’t blame him: I would like to dream a little more myself as well).
“False king”? Who’s got the sword, Gilgamesh?
I don’t think this is going to end well for you, Gil.
Daniel. Don’t talk. Just accept the psychological trauma and run him through. I don’t see that you have other options…
Time for a certain dragon to give his last and earn his complete redemption?
if Gil is going to claim he is still the rightful king, it’s time for Dan to usurp with extreme prejudice!
Now he’s talking in the first-person.
Not exactly, but he could be talking to himself, which means shifting the first person to the second.
Hm. Does Gilgamesh look a bit like Lee Van Cleef?
Will Dan shout back,”You’re the false king!!!”?
Oh, boy, here we go! =)

“I know you are, but what am I?!”
