This is one of those irony things. In the process of saving those children from a traumatic experience, she put them through a different traumatic experience. Cloudchaser is right. The kids look like they think they will be next. And who could blame them?
See. boys and girls? Elven princesses don’t just look good, they’re rampaging berserkers who can kill a whole ship full of pirates! Don’t you want to grow up to be just like her???
(OK, Nas, catch your breath, then get those kids to safety. You don’t have much time.)
“Well, kids, what are you waiting for, an invitation? All hands on deck. Hoist the anchor, set the mainsail, and we’ll set a course- second star to the right and straight on ’til morning.”
Any of you cutie pies, know field medicine?
seriously Nas, you really should sit down and have a cookie and some orange juice.
If only a ship full of dwarves, a healer, your one true love, and a mystical artifact that can keep you from dying of blood loss were to come barreling down. If only.
Welp! who wants pie?
Some see fear as a response from the children, I’m thinking some of those kids might just be stunned that someone they’ve never met would do all that to protect them.
Regardless of how the kid’s react, I think Nastajia did what was best. Completely neutralize the very present threat. The children had already been kidnapped and frightened, with only the promise of further captivity and torture to look forward to. Taking whatever means necessary to free them, however violently, was not wrong.
Not a “bloody” massacre. A “gooey” massacre. Because violence in front of children is 78.3% less traumatic when the bodily fluid is an unrealistic green color.
For me this page captures not only Nastajia’s fatigue and bloodloss, but when her head hangs down to me she is acknowledging the defeat of innocence for these children’s dreams. I think she knows that seeing that battle isn’t psychologically healthy, but she could not allow them to be taken to those pods.
You go Nastajia. Evil can never be allowed to take advantage of the innocent.
I think at some point she multi-classed to Barbarian. Looks like her rage ended, her temporary hit points disappeared, and she’s now up an additional level of fatigue… That’s gotta hurt.
Oh well, at least the pirates are dealt with.
Oh!
some dream these children will share with their friends when they wake up.
Are we sure she is still wounded?
Jings, i think that’s taken a lot out of her, not just physically either.
Poor things look like they’re afraid they’ll be next
I’m always amused by the fact that every dark, depressing page has “Happy [day]!” underneath it.
This is one of those irony things. In the process of saving those children from a traumatic experience, she put them through a different traumatic experience. Cloudchaser is right. The kids look like they think they will be next. And who could blame them?
That last frame is priceless! I believe the technical term for those expressions is Gobsmacked. =)
Also? I think she needed that release.
Does Dreamland offer a ‘scarred psychologically’ plan for children who experience really bad and traumatic nightmares?
From bustline to hips, I think the material shouldn’t be that red. She may need to sit down for awhile after this.
Something tells me that this won’t end well! :O

uh oh, blood loss alert!

Yes. They tell them it was just a dream. Also, those children in the pods would need it more.
Nastiana knows field medicine. But she needs supplies. Needle, thread. And to stop moving.
This is exactly what I was worried about yesterday. I hope she’s able to make some kind of amends for what happened.
Amends for saving their lives?
Poor thing. Now comes the pain.
Amends for being kidnapped when they should have been protected by the Dreamlanders and letting them be front row to a bloody massacre.
Twas but a flesh wound!
There should be at least one kid, all wide-eyed, amazed, and smiling, as if thinking, “That. Was. AWESOME!”
That was awesome, by the way.
Likely at least one gamer present among the children who will cheer.

Alex, rule #1. Never ever cheat on Nastajia or you’ll end up like those pirates.

She used her cape for a bandage. And it was red, but not that red.
Im still hoping Alex shows up soon with sword and scabbard to give her for healing. she’s needing i sooner rather than later.
definitely next panel will be kids with big smiles jumping and all that

She’s killing Vulcans, damnit!
many of those faces looks more “wow she’s freakingly cool” then “we all gonna die”,

This reminds me of River Tam at the end of the Serenity movie.
Between her own red blood and the green pirate blood, she is starting to look quite festive.
