Hopefully there is a portal nearby they can use to get to Egypt. Passports for the King and Queen of the Elves so they can go on a commercial airliner might be a bit… hard. O_O
I’m sure Dan can just wander around looking for where that nearest dot probably is 🙂 Great map, Guardians!
(yes, I understand that Dan might be able to guess “Stonehenge” or whatever, but in that case wouldn’t a list of places be easier than a map of the world?)
The dot northwest of the Black Sea could correspond to Cimmeria from Conan lore.
I agree with the assessment on Tunguska in central Asia.
The one in Japan seems a bit too far north to be Mt. Fuji.
Perhaps the Scandinavian Gate could explain some connection between the Vikings and Dreamland’s dwarves. They seem to have some similarities.
The one in central Africa is almost smack in the middle of the Congo rain forests. I don’t know of anything that could be tied to.
Don’t know about Quebec/Labrador.
The Central American line seems more directed at the Mayans than Aztecs.
Western South America is close to Machu Picchu. Don’t know about the other one in South America.
I wonder if the Australia line actually goes under Dan’s thumb to New Zealand? Maybe Peter Jackson’s home….
Don’t know about the one near Hong Kong. Further north and it could have been more easily tied to the early Chinese dynasties. Further south and it could have been the people that built Ankor Wat.
Now Dan has a reason to enter Dreamland and fly off to see the Pharoah to compare notes and make plans for the assault on the main portal. In the process they will find out about our favorite Tigrin. When she is awakened she will have been briefed by Merlin and she can cast the spell to awaken him. The Pharoah can send fliers to the Dwarven King’s ship to inform him, whereupon they will learn of Alex being rescued by the ship. The new scooby gang on Earth can then take the local portal to the main portal, planning to immediately jump to the one in England to help Merlin. Meanwhile Alex and the ship can fly to the Dreamland side of the main portal to create a diversion, which will likely reunite Alex with his girlfriend.
For a moment I thought the one shown in the US went to Franklin, TN, but the dot on the map there is closer to Knoxville. Still… Could have been intended for Franklin (near Nashville, TN). ~.^
One of the ones heading further west on the North American map seems to be heading in the general area of the Anasazi, the precursors to both the Navajo and, IIRC, the Apache (either them or the Hopi, but at the same time, neither of them seem quite right. Been nearly a decade and a half since I last used this knowledge).
Perhaps its supposed to be Rock City, or maybe Ruby Falls, although WAY too far north and too far east. Maybe one of those caves in Virginia that espouses that they are the portal to the underworld? IDK.
Upemba depression is the central africa area, though the only major known kingdom is a bit later than king arthur and the knights of the round would have been. on the other hand very few excavations have taken place in the region leaving plenty for speculation.
Not really. It seems to be almost spot on for Mt Olympus. The mountain is just north of Thessaly, south of Salonica and indeed close to the east coast of the mainland to the Aegean. Unfortunately, the map doesn’t have the three penninsulae (sp?) south to southeast of Salonica (Chalkidiki) so I can’t be 100% sure, but the dot seems to be northwest of the Pagasetic bay (where Volos is today and where Mt Pelion is) and that makes Mt Olympus a pretty good candidate for it.
Certainly not Styx. The closest we have for entrances to the Other World from Greek mythology were Acheron and Mt Taygetus, none of which are even close to the dot.
It’s the hometown of the wonderful Sava family. Thus, it would have indirect, but significant meaning to Dreamland itself, if nothing else.
A small nod if you will. 🙂
I think I can spot Stonehedge… And that part in Greece must be the entrance to the river Styx. Any other places people ?
One in Australia, but the exact location is covered by Dan’s thumb. Uluru, maybe?
Um. “Pharoah”?
All portals lead to Egypt…
I read it as all portals are CONNECTED with the master one, which is in Egypt. I would take a guess it is the temple of Abu Sibel.
I can spot Brocéliande in France.
The one over Mongolia is Tunguska… Tesla knew something!
Mt. Fuji in Japan? Nazca Plain/Lines in Peru? Ur in Iraq (actually the point is a bit too far north… Babylon/Niniveh maybe, tho Ur makes more sense)?

I think there’s one in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. That wouldn’t surprise me. There’s always been lots of covert stuff going on in Oak Ridge!
About as many gates as your typical Eldritch Horror game.
Any chance we could get a clean version of just that map? So much possibility. I bet one of the gates in the southwest US leads to Night Vale.

All Hail the Glow Cloud
Daniel, you must bring the Fifth Element to Egypt and use the Stargate to destroy the ancient Mummy bringing death and destruction to Earth.
I would love for each of these locations to have a story.
The Gate in northwest Russia could be in the Ural Mountains. Maybe it’s tied to the Dyatlov Pass Incident. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dyatlov_Pass_incident

Not sure about India, either.
Of course, no love for Antarctica….
(I’m having entirely too much fun with this.)
I wonder if one of those un the US under the speech bubble is going to Area 51.
Actually, I think the Greek portal is on Mount Olympus — which, unlike the River Styx, actually exists in real life.
(Also, it’s StoneheNge, not StoneheDge.)
speaking of alex… dan and nicole still show no sign of caring where Alex went off to…

It’s spelled “Pharaoh” (one of the all-time classic confusing spellings).
Currently living in Franklin. No clue what we have here that remotely implies mystical stuff, but I’m willing to find out if it means Dreamland. 🙂

Too North to be Olympus. Olympus is kind in the middle and to the east of Greece.
I think the other one in south america is related to the nazca?

Roswell would be more likely, I think. Or the region where the Anasazi lived.

Well, they DID get from Egypt to where they are now (I keep forgetting where that is)…
