Wild Cards have the tendency of doing just that… But he might be a liability… also he can kick as much ass as his brother. And has a lot more allies than Daniel, don’t forget.
The throne is not vacant. Dan’s got the sword, Dan’s got the power. He was meant to be the King in the first place. Who would question his right? And why?
Stalemate is not the right word, but it’s hard to tell what the right word is. Dan can’t stop Abaddon’s invasion of Earth; they can’t stop him from destroying the Nightmare Realm and killing the Dreamer and all Abaddon in Dreamland. Each side can inflict intolerable harm on the other. So how do they get out of this?
I doubt Alex can kick as much ass as his brother. He has human limitations in Dreamland that Daniel does not since Dan is there in dream form and Alex is there physically…but he can still be one heck of a monkey wrench in the gears of The Dreamer/Abaddon’s plans. 🙂
I wanted to suggest something more precise like “I cannot stop your invasion on Earth. And you cannot stop me here in Dreamland” but I realized it could backfire spectacularly, by giving to Abaddon the idea to attack Dan on Earth, where he is much more vulnerable…
Actually, what Dan can do is to sieze control of the Nightmare Realm side of the portal to Egypt and block any more from using that portal. As for the Nightmare creatures that have already reached Earth, the Middle East will now have a new jihad of demons to worry about.
Let’s see. Here’s Dan, in his an almost-omnipotent dream body. An invincible warrior carrying an unstoppable sword. The brain behind every successful operation carried out by Alex and his crew. And there’s Alex with a lot of resolution, 10 seconds’ worth of air in his lungs, a magical portal exploding in the same underwater cave he’s in, and a horde of not totally friendly nightmare folks around him. And not even a single shark in sight, so jumping is out of question.
The only way this makes any sense to me is if the Dreamer ate the immortality plant however many centuries ago and is therefore unkillable, and Dan now knows this.
“Truly, you have a dizzying intellect.”
“Wait til I get going!”
True, I cannot hurt you. However your brother has just entered dreamland and I most certainly hurt him.
I can hurt him, and I wish to go on hurting him. Buried, alive, in the center of the planet.
KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!
Ooops sorry another story, but you get the idea. Alex just became a potentially huge liability for his brother.
Wild Cards have the tendency of doing just that… But he might be a liability… also he can kick as much ass as his brother. And has a lot more allies than Daniel, don’t forget.
Still, won’t that cost Daniel the throne? Thus leading to a war on two fronts?
One front-the impending nightmare invasion of Earth.
Second front-a civil war in Dreamland to see who(or what)will occupy the now vacant throne?
The throne is not vacant. Dan’s got the sword, Dan’s got the power. He was meant to be the King in the first place. Who would question his right? And why?
That’s not really a stalemate. They just invade, and then they win, and you’re still fine, but everyone else is dead.
Stalemate is not the right word, but it’s hard to tell what the right word is. New armor. The human wants new armor.
I wonder “impasse” would be better?
I was thinking something like “I cannot stop your invasion. And you cannot stop me”

lol…yeah. I’ll admit to being a bit weirded out by the bell sleeves and bell bottoms on Dan’s armor. 😛
Oh, great… now, despite his good heroic intentions, Alexander comes to ruin his brother’s plans for Dreamland…
Any chance Alex showing up saying “You can’t stop them but WE can!”

Tricky.
*programming kicks in*
Me: “I’m afraid so. The Dreamer can’t compete with Dan physically, and Dan is no match for the Dreamer’s brain.”
Fellow readers: “He’s that smart?”
Me: “Let me put it to you this way. Have you ever heard of Plato, Aristotle, Socrates?”
Fellow readers: “Yes.”
Me: “Morons.”
Seems like a sword through the Dreamer would stop the invasion.
The only way this makes any sense to me is if the Dreamer ate the immortality plant however many centuries ago and is therefore unkillable, and Dan now knows this.
So what have we to suggest that Dan should fear the Dreamer’s mind?
Oh god, don’t tell me Alex showing up is going to mess things up royally?..
