Alex is being reasonable and intelligent! I doubt this will work!
I do have to wonder, though, what the NR’s problem is with humans. Even though Dreamland – both dream AND nightmare parts – was apparently set up with a human as a King the NR only barely tolerated that and tried to change things the moment Arthur (and Nic’s treachery) gave them an opening. Here we’ve got Alex hacking his way though them like a hot knife through melted butter and STILL they’d rather fight him than deal with him. This is more than prejudice, this is hatred. And I’d like to know where it comes from…
Well done Alex!! 🙂 I’m proud of him using his brain and his training to overcome fear. That’s much more than we’ve seen from him before, and I think it’s a fantastic show of growth.
1. Who is Alex speaking to?
2. His sword and his armor is still shining like there is no bloodshed around. We can clearly see him smite tens of nightmare creatures in the previous panels.
So is it supposed that both sword and armor have self-cleaning properties?
@Dagger
I dont think the sword and armor are self-cleaning, it is just like the comic Asterix and Obelix, there is no blood showed in the picture 🙂
Several comics are showing blood when there is a fighting, and that scares me always a little, so im happy with no blood 😉
This is great, seeing Alex battle at this level. To be wowing creatures so unused to being whupped by a human. There’s got to be a psycological angle to this. Great stuff, Scott.
Is the real problem that they were trained by the Spanish Inquisition?
NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition! Our chief weapon is surprise!… Surprise and fear… fear and surprise… Our TWO weapons are fear and surprise… and ruthless efficiency! . . . Our THREE weapons are fear, and surprise, and ruthless efficiency… and an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope… Our four… no… AMONGST our weapons… Hmf… Amongst our weaponry… are such elements as fear, surpr… I’ll come in again.
Nightmare beasts need fear and terror and to make others afraid of them. They seem to be attacking more as a desire to overwhelm than to destroy. Thus, their intention isn’t to kill or destroy Alex, but to break him through his mind (which is usually the softest part of a human).
oh no. no no no no no. *First*
oh way to go, genius, you just gave away your kryptonite.
Alex rocks in this strip today. Whatever he’s doing, it’s working.
Which means some kind of change is coming.

Well, what’s giving him power?
It’s the power of love! *sings the Huey Lewis and the News song* 🙂
Yay Alex!
And that is the King Alex we’ve been hoping to see.
LOL!!! (gonna be humming that song ALL day now, thanks a lot!!) 🙂

If anything she’s anti-kryptonite. The closer they get the stronger he gets. They harm on hair on her head and I pity their fate.
Alex for President!

Nah. Nightmare critters don’t *have* blood.

Maybe the NR is just looking for an excuse to be rebellious and betray the king. It’s the way to be a nightmare.

GET ON WITH IT.
It’s called LOVE ya nightmare jerkasses! LOOK IT UP!
You’re very welcome! (That was my intent… :D)
Was just wondering, why isn’t he using his helmet?
Will those nightmare beasties honor Alex’s request????
The helmet part of the armor got trashed in the fight with Nic and the Elves apparently couldn’t repair it.
I don’t believe this is about hatred.
