My first thought after the third panel was: Call now for this limited-time offer, and you too can own your very own King Alex action figure! Call within the next 10 minutes and we’ll include the Sword of Kings, absolutely free!!!
This is when Alex’s sword goes all Final Fantasy on these guys and he swings his sword in a horizontally slashing fashion and takes out minions five deep and a half semi-circle.
The sword should be able to do what he envisions him doing, right? Put a little “Green Lantern” in there and as he swings it make it expand in length and breadth to deal the extra burst damage.
Of course this isn’t a once per encounter power.
Geek-fest anyone?
I really like how Alex is taking it to the Nightmare creatures but I have a feeling that it is not going to be quite enough. Even the greatest of warriors can get dragged down by sheer numbers.
Poor Alex. He has grown so much and is trying to prove he can be a leader and everyone likes to throw the bit; “You’re not the true King.”
I am amazed he isn’t depressed or has developed a bit of loathing towards his brother…
I was actually thinking about Matrix 2, my favorite line from the movie, that I use often is right after Neo stops all the bullets from the Machiavellian’s bodyguards and he reluctantly says, “Ok, He has some skill!”
Don’t listen to them Alex! They’re just trying to drag you down and defeat you mentally and physically. You are the King. Make that wolf eat those words!
What’s to be depressed about? He had his whole childhood in Dreamland. He’s gotten to continue to live in Dreamland as king and found his true love there. He gets to be everyone’s beloved hero. Why does everyone think he should be sooooo sad?? He has been given everything he could want.
And why should he loath Dan? Dan supports him as king.
Imagine Daniel deciding to return Excalibur only to have Nievene(??)say: “He who shirks his destined duty as king shall die ten thousand deaths,” A whole bunch of merefolk emerged armed with deadly weapons aimed at Dan. “You CANNOT abdicate!”
I’m probably just nitpicking, and if these are quotes from How to Train Your Dragon, then fine (I haven’t watched the movie enough to remember the lines), but when I read “strength and durability” I think of Alex’s armor, not Alex himself. I think it would read better and have more impact if they said “strength and endurance.” Just a suggestion. Overall, I thoroughly enjoy Dreamland and look forward to every update!
Maybe that would be true in the real world, but this is Dreamland, and Alex has been trained to be stronger and faster…and I’d be willing to bet that he doesn’t even experience physical exhaustion now since this is “all in his mind.”
(This has me wondering what it would be like to see the true king fighting since Scott has mentioned that the true king would be stronger/faster/have better powers.)
He may have had his childhood in dreamland and had great experiences, but recently how can one not be depressed when the place you had faith in….doesn’t have faith in you as king? Think about it from Alex’s view. Great place to be, his true love lives there, and even though he stepped up and is trying his best, leaders or people of importance, know your NOT supposed to be king and like to tell you so.
Sorry I meant to say jealousy not loathing.
Come on, If I were Alex I would be a bit jealous of my sibling. Yeah he supports Alex as king, but it doesn’t mean Alex will remain king. (I have a feeling that when Dan is allowed to visit dreamland, Alex will turn the crown over no matter what Dan says) As Alex the reason would be a tad bit jealous as he would get to rule such an awesome place.
He can’t be a king because he is smelly stupid human. Only a wise scaly fire breather can be king. Wisdom is proven be listening to the wisest of all, Emperor Abadon!
Scott, there’s a typo in the last panel. I think that’s supposed to say “Well trained”. π
I can see one of them saying “Impressive. Most impressive.”
Thanks Kelly!
Fixed it.

Flight! Enhanced speed! Increased strength and durability! His power level is OVER 9000!!!
Thanks Kate for making that joke so I don’t have to! π
And I really like the Wolf beasts dialogue, soooooo fitting. I can just hear him snarling when he says “NEVER a King!!!”
LOL, I had a similar thought!
Goblin: All yours for 3 easy payments of 19.99.
Wolf: CALL NOW!
Not these guys, too! Everyone is dumping on poor Alex.
I think we’d have more of a problem if the only ones supporting him as king was the nightmare realm goons.
Those nightmare creatures stole the lines of fishlegs, from How to train your dragon! π

Gunblade all the way, make excalibur a gunblade!

KLN B)
Faster than a speeding hedgehog, more powerful than…well, two or three normal people, AND able to leap tall gargoyles in a single bound!

I seriously doubt his listening to any of them. π
Ooooh, play on his self esteem. Harsh, yet great!
“Never a king!” says the wolf(or werewolf).

LOL! This should totally be the new Vote Incentive! π
Last panel: Seal of Disapproval. Denizen of the Nightmare Realm.
“Never a king!”
This is a tactic of the Sith. Not only drain your enemies physically, but emotionally and mentally too.
He’s been spending those XP and bringing up his SPD, END, CON, and DEX to bring up that OCV!
“But NOT a king. NEVER a king.”
Everybody’s a critic!
(Referring to the denizens of the Nightmare Realm, not anyone here.)

I’m partial to the Death Blossom, myself…
(The Last Starfighter)
Why NOT a King? Who says so? Let him show himself! (cue Lord Abadon…and a reanimated Nic?)
Maybe that would be true in the real world, but this is Dreamland, and Alex has been trained to be stronger and faster…and I’d be willing to bet that he doesn’t even experience physical exhaustion now since this is “all in his mind.”

Obi-Wan has taught you well… but you are not a Jedi yet!
Pffft. Why stop there?
Dynasty Warriors… MUSOU ATTACK!
Alex ain’t no Lu Bu, that’s for sure.
