Page 1665…
Back to Earth…
I may go back and take some of your advice and add a full page splash of Alex being swept away by hundreds of nightmare beasts.
The sheer amount of time for that single page, though, would have meant no more pages this week.
So let me see if I can work that in at some point.
Thanks again for all of your feedback!
Scott
If THAT does not sound Stargate i don’t know what does.
Also First..
Thus concludes another episode of “Meet The Parents!”
Wait — how did they get there from *Egypt* without attracting attention??? And how did they find Dan and Alex’s house???? (I’m sure all will be revealed, but I’m just going to ask the obvious questions for now.)
…What? Egypt?
Aw, you mean to tell me we missed out on the most awkward conversation of all time?
I want Alex to breakthrough and save her.
I want to know how much Dan explained. Sounds like quite a lot if dad retreated to the bathroom O_O
Not sure why, but our resident elves here seem out of place here. And I don’t mean the obvious “they’re elves.” Something about the coloring doesn’t seem right, which might just be because they were designed to fit into Dreamland background, but it really stands out in Alex and Dan’s home.
I’m sure they mean Little Egypt in Illinois …
I’d have loved to see the meeting between Dan’s and Alex’ and Nastajia’s parents 🙂 And yes, I am curious, too, to learn how they got from Egypt to the house without problems. Can they teleport?
Exactly ho long have they been missing from Nastajia’s home? Years to my understanding. Assuming they found any of there information half as quickly as the main characters, I think it is safe to say they can not teleport. They have been on Earth for some time, trying to find there way to a person described by an eight year old boy, ten years ago. America probably came up in conversations, as did family names, and maybe even a city. But I doubt they knew states, or currency rates, or even telephone books. Finding Daniel has likely been the greatest challenge of this entire quest.
But my question is, when a native of Dreamland is physically manifest on Earth, what happens when they sleep? Can Dreamlanders dream, and if so, where do they go?
Oh, that’s too funny! First time I recall the boys’ dad being involved in any of the doings here. In fact, I wasn’t sure he was still living. Glad to hear he is, though he may have aged a whole lot in the last couple of minutes. =) Kids!
They told them huh? That’s cool, at least Dan’s honest. “Hey mom, dad, I’m helping these elven royals, is that okay?” 😛 Taking it pretty well too.
is it just me or… have we never seen their dad before…?
or have I forgot about them?!
It’s a Stargate! I KNEW IT
Yeah, I don’t remember the Dad either. Cool to know he exists.
And hey, when Alex comes back, he’ll finally be able to have that chat with his parents and to-be in-laws.
If they arrived in Egypt, then how did they end up in the U.S.A.?
Whoop…that was an abrupt shift….
A plane. Just say you’re going to comicon.
hands up, who saw this coming a mile away? *raises hand*
To date we haven’t seen Dan and Alex’s dad on-panel… I don’t think we’ve even gotten a word bubble out of him. Must be the silent type.
And get strip searched? I’m not a royal person, but still have never flown a plane since those humiliations were introduced. There are limits to how much dignity one can trade for getting there from here. Or used to be back in the day, before we started letting governments treat us like frightened sheep.
It’s got to be some Elven magic.
Umm…. *keeping my hands down.
I expected a little bit more storyline or explanation there.
Whoah!! Now you’re touching on some important topics.
No, we have not seen Dad yet. I am still afraid that when we do finally see him, it will turn out that he (somehow) is Arthur. (Not nearly as possible as I once thought because if he was Arthur, the elves would have said something.)
Aww… I seriously wanted to see at least a reaction shot from “Hey, mom, dad, I know this is sudden, but your sons are the heirs of King Arthur. Also, there’s an elf king and queen in the living room.”
I understand why you’d do it off-screen to keep momentum going, but seriously, I REALLY wanted to see at least a snippit of that conversation.
So, are we going to see Dan’s and Alex’s dad at some point? And their reactions to it all?
Elven King [waves hand in front of security]: We are not suspicious-looking
Airport Security Chief: They are not suspicious-looking
Elven King: You will let us through without a search
Airport Security Chief: We’ll let them through without a search
Elven King: You will allow us to keep our dignity intact
Airport Security Chief: We will allow them to… hey, wait a minute!
😀
But seriously, you are so right about airport treatment and “letting governments treat us like frightened sheep”!
Interesting questions.
Perhaps dreamlanders dream of Earth when they sleep, but they just view snippets from our lives instead of actually visiting? It might help explain the Earth/Dreamland connection, why Dreamlanders are generally okay with Earth kids coming to visit and why the Nightmare Realm is bent on conquering Earth.
I wouldn’t be entirely confident that they can’t teleport on Earth. Perhaps, like you said, their biggest challenge was FINDING Daniel’s house. Or maybe magic just doesn’t work on Earth? (But then how can those Nightmare critters stay invisible/intangible like that?) Perhaps they had a human help them in their quest?
Thing is, what are the ODDS that Nastajia’s parents would stumble across Daniel in the local park the SAME NIGHT that Alex and Nastajia invade the Nightmare Realm to rescue them. The coincidence there is just COSMIC in scale! (Why couldn’t they have just been 1 day earlier and prevent them from embarking on such a foolish quest?)
Egypt? I must say I am not surprised…I mean, we just need to look at the humans stuck in the dreamland realm. The winged people. Where did they come from again? What was it…ah right, they are the descendants of an Egyptian Pharaoh! Now where else in the world would they end up?
Though I still say they’re fishy…aside from the fact that they managed to travel from Egypt to the USA, they also found the Sword of Kings on this side. I don’t trust them.
*hums the SG-1 theme song*
I really wanted to see how Dan brings this up to mom and dad.
They’re skilled in avoidance.
Every bus driver, sailor, customs officer, and map seller: “So you’re the king and queen of some nation of elves in a dream world, and you need my help to get to this guy’s house?”
“We have gold.”
“Crazy or not, the money’s still good.”
